History:
During his youth, Ren used to live and work on a farm that both raised agriculture to feed the family and raised horses for the benefit of travel. Life was a very typical thing, and the need for weapons and self defense was constantly overlooked and taken for granted.

At the age of 10 Ren eventually finds a young dragon eating their crops. His brothers and father agree to take it in and care for it until its owner arrives. However, bandits sneak into the farm at dawn to steal the pedigree dragon mount for themselves and sell it on a black market. The bandits, uncaring and oblivious to life, set fire to the farm and the Ren's house while attempting to steal the dragon, but the ashes set the stable on fire, and weaken the binds enough for the dragon to be set free..

Unable to fend off the bandits, most of the older male members of the family get slaughtered, while Ren's mother drops him out the window so that he can be saved from the fire. Ren almost fails to run away from the bandits after his painful and unsetting fall, but the dragon, as if by a miricale chooses to save Ren, seeming to tell that he and his family were better masters than his previous one.

Age 12. Ren has taught himself how to use a spear, and is forced to survive on his own, lying and sneaking through towns in order to avoid being taken in by a family and leaving behind his friend, the large creature whom he has named “Leo”, while still attempting to go to shops to receive supplies.

Ren keeps a journal that belonged to his mother. He mainly responded to his mother's entries, being the closest way to speak to his mother now. He only recently started writing new entries that bear his own handwriting.




Personality:
Ren is a quiet spoken lad, usually only saying what is necessary in a hesitant tone when around other people, but when he speaks to Leo in private, he manages to have more thought out conversations about his day, feeling that Leo is his only friend, and his survival partner.

Without friends, he is shy around people, even if they are very nice to him. He fears that more people like the bandits will want to steal Leo, the one who saved his life. Because of this, Ren has slowly become very naïve of many types of social situations other than poorly trying to conduct forms of business or talking to Leo.

He still panics much at his young age when in combat. His trembling fear while hunting causes nights without food. When he does fight, his style is pained and filled with lack of hope that he'll survive, but every time he does win or escape, he gives Leo all of the credit for helping him through such events.

Ren's writing style is poor due to his surge of uneducation he's had for a couple of years. His grammar expertise is what he observed in his mother's entries, yet it is far from perfect. Capitalization, spelling, and legability problems still exist.




Appearance:
Ren would have been a lot stronger and better grown if his life was normal, but now his body is trained by pain and hunting alone, and his would be built form is replaced by a scarred, rougher, but skinnier version.

Ren dons inexpensive clothing and leather armor, and almost always carries his Slim Lance with him. He cuts his hair with a small knife on occasion, keeping it short and hand groomed. He wears dark eyes below his headband, and not often does he smile for strangers.

Ren's dragon is nearing its adult stages, and able to fly on its own and carry Ren. It is a peaceful creature of a light blue shade. Leo's skin is textured with scales, yet still smooth and silky to the touch. It, too is scarred from various cuts and flight accidents. Leo wears no saddle, and has a sense of independence as a friend rather than a tool for war.
