| The office move is mostly recovered from...I can emerge from my cave...
I wanted to get this out there earlier but relocating a corporate system infrastructure ate my brain for the past month and some.
I'd like to officially thank everyone involved with Meat for the opportunity to play music for you all for the last 6 years. I hope it continues on nicely without my tunes.
Ultimately I felt my musical vision diverge too far from the stated musical intent of the event and as much as anyone who gave me flack for not having the latest [insert Combichrist or similar act here] song to play for them annoyed me, they are in the right since they payed to go to an industrial event and I wasn't giving them that. It was time for me to bow out.
I hope that the musical tides flow back in a direction I am interested again at which point I may pick up the headphones again but until then I'm on hiatus.
( With that I leave you with my contribution to the last 3 nights of Meat with the original line-up, set lists, and brief commentary. ) | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |

| Come out to Meat tonight!
Next month (March) will be my last regular Meat so as of today, you've got 2 chances left...tomorrow you have 1 more chance to hear me spin "Industrial music"
There will likely be a post coming soon where I share why but I'm still working it out for myself -kind of tough not having a control-group Gluck to discuss this with...
See ya tonight. | comments: 10 comments or Leave a comment |

| I have more to say but not a lot of time to say it...
Business first: Anyone know of published/available statistical analysis of weighted distribution of alphabetized last names? Like, if you wanted to take a large group of people and split them approximately in half, based on the first letter of their last name, where would you draw the line? How about thirds? I know Qs and Xs got the shaft while Ss are a bit on the bloaty side but I'm sure someone has done such a study and posted to the webs about it. Can anyone point me to where?
Also, I hope I can rock out at 59 as well as Alice Cooper can...

| If you're on the west coast and have a cingular phone, their routing is majorly jacked so expect weirdness and an inability to use the thing for the evening. They have no ETA...
I called my cellphone from my cellphone and ended up talking to some lady in Washington...nice.
In other related news, technology is being especially difficult this week. If it keeps up I'mma gonna be a Luddite. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |

| I obtained an ancient PC that is a bit less ancient than my current server at home. In my attempts to get it set up, the clip that holds the CPU cooler on broke (old plastic is apparently too brittle for its own good. Does anyone have a Socket370/Pentium iii cooler that they are no longer using? There's not much available in the new market for such archaic devices...

| | I've been LJ-free for over a week and have not the time to catch up...If there's anything I need to know, feel free to reply here. I hope everybody had a wonderful holiday week. Mine was spectacular and I'll probably mention more about it later. Suffice it to say that I was EXACTLY where I needed/wanted to be for NYE. I wouldn't have wanted it any differently -well, maybe a bit less scotch... | comments: Leave a comment |

| New tires are MUCH better than the baldies I was driving on before but sadly, they don't make the other drivers drive any better...why do so few people in CA turn their lights on when it is raining?
A wee bit of info for the data packrats out there: large inexpensive external hard drives are the worst place to store important data. Truth in packaging appears to not have made it out of the food industry...had I known what there retarded things really were, I'd never have spent the company's $ on them so I'm sharing this discovery with all of you so you don't waste any $$ on this crap. All of the large Lacie external drives are, underneath their aluminum skin, a pair of Maxtor drives configured in a RAID0 array which means, for the non-technical, that you're buying a pair of the most notoriously unreliable hard drives and you are putting your data on them in such a way that if either drive has a problem, you can no longer access any of the data on either disk. If you put your data on these drives, you've got as good a chance of retrieving it in tact as you would if you put it on a floppy disc (for those who remember what those were...)
HATE these stupid things. There are honest-to-goodness 500GB drives out there, why are none of them sold in external cases? Why is the current trend pursuit of speed with no care for longevity? Technology is getting stupid and the retrograde can go suck silicon. | comments: 10 comments or Leave a comment |

| | The Dark Tekno Collective is putting on a pretty cool 3-day electronic music event. I am spinning at tomorrow night's episode. Synapscape will be playing in the Downstairs space and, if they haven't changed too much in 6 years, they put on a good show -nice and crunchy while remaining quite dancable. Asche is also playing -they had a decent show a couple of years ago at that club in Brisbane that you may have caught. Come out and check it out! | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| My favorite non-sequenced/engineered band ever just got back together after having broken up just over 5 years ago!
They're releasing new material and playing a date in Seattle and one in PDX. I emailed them to see if they're going to venture further from home (they're from Seattle-ish). I saw them once in '94 and again in '97 or '98 and they are consistantly in my list of top 10 bands to see live. | comments: 9 comments or Leave a comment |

| So, what do boys have one of but girls have 3?
I hope people had an enjoyable time. I worry that what we did is really only fun for the music geeks and/or DJs out there (not that there's any shortage of said types but still...) because I had trouble dancing due to the larger margin for error and odd overlaps that were happening. I listened to some of the archive (which is less forgiving than the club PA) and there were some great moments and some dreadful moments throughout. We should probably consider leaving those shenanigans to non-club events but that is just my opinion. It did go better than I expected :)
No archive link for this one as you really kind of had to be there for it...
If you need to boogie tonight, please consider the Dirty South party as it is a benefit for a good cause. Racism is an evil thing but the way it rears its head when a catastrophe levels the playing field and those who feel they are better grapple for new ways to prove it is really scary. All the people with Commonground have put tons of energy trying to help out in the wake of the NOLA flooding and can use whatever people can give -plus the lineup is pretty sweet. | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |

| Tomorrow night...Meat! and if that's not your bag, Paul R-Kidz is spinnning BeatChurch @ Nickie's in the Lower Haight.
Next Friday the 27th, there is the Chinese 2006 New Year Celebration @ 1015 featuring a bunch of cool stuff including Paul R-Kidz.
It appears that for my Birthday, someone invited JnR Hacksaw to play @ the nifty warehouse next to the SoundFactory (511 Harrison) along with a bunch of other fine musicians -how thoughtful of them.
If anyone is in the Santa Cruz area, it is rumored that Paul will be spinning @ the Attic on Feb 1
For those who went to see the Lawgiverz, I hope you had fun :) I thought they played well considering the swealtering temperatures and the overdriven soundsystem and the cramped space. I have to say that Paul, by himself, is every bit as good as the Lawgiverz together (Paul R-kidz & Nick Noize) so if you get the chance, take it. He's going home in early February. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
