| | Mew- Frengers | ] | So last night (Friday) I went to London for Hope of the States' club night, Fugitives & Refugees. A load of us HOTS boardies met up (20 or so) then stayed at a hotel afterwards. It was both a fucking amazing night and at the same time a dreadful one (for me)....

So on Thursday night I went to Camden Crawl, which is where like 50 bands play various venues across Camden, London. It's like a mini festival, and it was very very good!

| | Arcade Fire LP | ] | Went to see Ian Broudie (of the Lightning Seeds) in a london pub on Thursday, but arrived too late and missed his performance :( But, I did get my photo taken with him, Ringo Starr's son and the guitarist from Oasis (i;m useless with names)and im not posting the photos cos i look so fucking bad its unreal.
On Sat night, i went to a Type2Error thingy (HOTS projectionist people) in London and this is copy and pasted from the Hope Of The States message board, so if you don't know whta im talking about then oh well:
So, Saturday night was absolutely fantastic! I bumped into Anna at Charing Cross station, we then met Arfie in the pub at about 5. (I still stick by my comment about you being a character!) Anna's brother John then turned up at 5:30 and we went to the ICA, where we found Russell and Little Acorns. The screening was very cool, I loved the YMSS and Pure Reason Revolution videos! It was quite surreal watching TRTWTBTB and B$B with the band sitting right in front of us! The Q&A with Matt & Ed was interesting, and Paul's comment about them making a Halfords advert was very funny! We then went through to the bar, where I spoke to Ema. Then went through to watch Red Jetson, I was very impressed by them. (And was it just me that thought the lead singer looked like Neil from The Office?) I met Keir at the bar after they'd played, and it was cool to see that signed B$B! The next band that played, that Arfie informed me consisted of members of The Edmund Fitzgerald, YMSS and Red Jetson, were quite good. Called Daises I think?? At some point then, Arfie slapped me, knocking my glasses off! Whilst trying to find them, we found a credit card on the ground that Keir handed in. Went back to the bar, and bumped into Dean and Gemma. Next, Mike and Sam appeared on stage to great applause from the audience. Sam was clutching an electric guitar, and they proceeded to play three songs: For The Drunks, Nehemiah and The Drinkers On The Dry. Was cool to hear For The Drunks again after nearly a year. I attempted to record the set with a minidsic, but alas it later transpired it had all been to no avail. Also met Sinead at last, that was cool. And Keir's mate Johnny from Reading photo. Also deliberately spoke whilst Keir was filming the performance, soz Keir, I blame the cider! Then someone shouted for Angels Over Kilburn, and Sam laughed, saying something like "How the fuck are we gonna play that?" Then he said "Go on then", so the whole crowd started singing it. 'Twas a great moment. Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategies were up next, they were very good I think. Then I went back to the bar, and sat at a table with big Mike. I asked him lots of stupid questions you would only ask when drunk, such as 'What's it like saying I'm in Hope Of The States?' I also said something I very much regret, and I must apologise Mike, but I said that the band could improve slightly. Oops! He also said he reckons Bonfires could potentially be the next single. Matt & Ed were doing their DJ sets at this point I think, I can't remember any songs they played. I left around 12:30, missed my last train home and walked the streets of London all night. I got the first train to High Wycombe, got back at around 8. Phew! ( Read more... ) |
