Her mother, Alayna, the Jewel of the Desert, was beautiful, intelligent, and refined, and it was widely believed that Edalene would grow under her tutelage to be every bit as much of a brilliant ruler. However, Queen Alayna's death when Edalene was no more than two changed a great deal a future for this little girl who suddenly found herself Jewel of the Desert. Her father, Thanes, took over the regency. A jolly, kind man, he raised Edalene to love laughter, to never take life too seriously, and to think the best of folks. He also gave her the best of everything he could, anything she asked for, because he loved her. Her elder brother, Reeve, made up the second half of her upbringing. Determined to keep her innocent, Reeve shielded her from every reality of the world beyond the gates of the Palace, in almost all matters keeping her mind as that of a child. Her father made her soft and spoiled. Her brother made her naive and incompetant. No one is entirely certain what made her so eccentric. Edalene ignored her lessons, which were terribly boring, and her responsibilities, which she had other people to do for her. She learned nothing of how to run a country, and nothing of how to survive in the biting world of politics. Thanes looked the other way, and Reeve was only glad, slowly taking on the work that Edalene should have been doing onto himself. Edalene preferred to spend her time primping herself, collecting and riding horses, throwing fabulous parties, and, of course, spending as much time with her beloved brother as humanly possible. She can't say when she fell in love with Reeve, but she can't remember ever not being in love with him, so she likes to assume she always has been. She does remember being told that if he were ever to know, he'd hate her, and so she's never told him. Edalene knows she has to get married as the Jewel of the Desert, and she also knows she can't not love Reeve, so she's trying to settle for as best as she can under the circumstances. Her life continued in this same satisfactory spiral until the summer of her seventeenth birthday, when her journal was linked to numerous others across the world. Suddenly, Reeve could not set a controlled filter on everything that reached her, and Edalene was slapped full in the face by the stark reality of the real world, all of which she tried to rationalize and ignore, but none of which she's truly managed to do. The strongest of these new forces in her life have been Lord Lawrence of House Franel, who she fancies her future husband, and one Kerrik of Megam, a twisted mercenary who has taken it upon himself to teach her the harsh realities of the world by any means neccessary. Combined with the sudden death of her father, and her eventual acension to the throne of Atsiria on her eighteenth birthday, Edalene's comfortable life is no longer what it always has been. As harsh realities continued to pile onto her, Edalene eventually snapped under the pressure and went to seek out the only person she now knew was telling the truth: Kerrik. She led him into the palace of Razen where he was killed by Reeve and her cousin, Reiz, who were both incredibly injured in the battle. Since then, Edalene has shut down and hardened herself against the world completely. Gone is the naive, idealistic, happy-go-lucky princess, and in her place is emerging an intense, mature queen. god I don't even know Edalene has very long red hair that she enjoys toying with and putting ornaments in, and emerald green eyes. She's usually wearing fantasic outfits. She is very short [4'8"], and incredibly beautiful. All tastes sweet but it’s not for long And I just think you thought it would be They give you your image and the things you believe Open your eyes, tell me what did you see And I just think you thought it so real
