History:

Justin was born into Kilia's house Flerin, the second son of a minor house with little regard for his position. After all, as the second son, he was given mostly free reign, so long as he kept up with his studies and showed acceptable progress in the study of magic.

He did so with relative ease, showing a particular flair for the element of fire early on. His studies and the expectations his family had for him as a Kilian nobleman never bothered him; he enjoyed reading, rather liked being able to burn things at will, and thus never complained about his situation, though he found the whole thing rather stifling from time to time.

It was by sheer luck that he overheard discussion concerning a shortage of researchers in the lower ranks of the Kilian government; his enthusiasm for the work and demonstrated magical knowledge and skill secured him a position, and his family happily threw their support behind him, of the mind that goverment work was at least better than anything they'd expected from their far too easygoing son, despite his skill.

The work was certainly the sort he enjoyed, and he didn't mind being away from home, either. His assignments often sent him on chases after relics both real and imagined throughout the mysterious Kilian countryside, and with each assignment, he found himself falling further and further in love with the mystery, travel and opportunities provided by his work. He climbed the ranks rather steadily, and at the age of 22, he'd secured a rather comfortable position, and was quite satisfied with his lot.

Working as a researcher led him to meet many people, most of whom passed in and out of his life inconsequentially, but one in particular would leave a last impression. Erin, a fellow researcher, similarly passionate about their work, incredibly intelligent, and positively gorgeous -- as far as Justin was concerned, there was simply no helping the matter; she'd be his wife, and that was that.

He discovered rather soon off that there was a darker side to the woman who'd caught his eye so completely; her lapses into overwhelming depression concerned him, but did little to deter his affection. If anything, they only encouraged his attentions -- he made it his mission to be her light, to be her jester, to be her shoulder to cry on, if that was what she needed -- anything to make her happy, he would provide.

His tenacity in this matter paid off; her bad days were less frequent and fixing them when they came along became easier each time. They were married when Justin was 24, and they now spend their time travelling the continent as researchers, investigating all manner of things for the Kilian government with Liam, Erin's positively intolerable asshat of a brother tagging along at all times (much to Justin's dismay, of course.)

Personality:

Laid back and rather easygoing, Justin hardly seems like a scholar, or a nobleman, or a Kilian at all, really. He takes things in stride, preferring to deal with situations as they occur rather than planning ahead. He's quite fond of showing off, preferring to deal with mundane situations magically whenever possible. He's also rather witty, quick to crack jokes or make light of the most dire situation, if he thinks it might make someone -- preferably his wife -- crack even the slightest of smiles.

Despite appearances, he has quite a passion for books, and is very well read and deceptively intelligent. He'd much rather play the comedian and do his best not to take things seriously than show this more scholarly side, but not even he denies that it exists. He's rather proud of his magical ability, particularly in the realm of fire magic; a pride that is eclipsed only by that he harbors for his wife, the woman he can be heard insisting often enough is easily the most beautiful, compelling and perfect woman on Eire. He quite literally lives for Erin, jumping to attend to her every whim, her every need, yet still somehow managing to avoid being utterly overbearing in the process.

He doesn't get along with Erin's younger brother, Liam, and quite wishes he'd leave them in peace and go back to annoying the rest of his family instead. They actually have quite a bit in common, but their mutual enjoyment of patronizing the other keeps them as uneasy allies on the good days, and outright bickering children on the bad. Still, their love for Erin keeps them in line, and they each have only her best interests at heart.

Justin harbors a particular passion for magical lore and relics, most of which are legends, said to be hidden throughout Eire and Kilia in particular by powerful mages long since deceased. Myths and their like fascinate him, and his favorite missions are those that involve travelling to investigate rumors and tales of mysterious and perhaps powerful relics. He studies folklore and history in particular, and is equally familiar with both commonly believed tales and legends so far removed from the realm of possibility that they've trascended through time from history books to mere children's tales. He loves adventure and travelling, and would be more than happy to remain on the road chasing his dreams with his lovely wife by his side for the rest of his life, thank you very much.

Appearance:

Justin has always been rather good looking, though his features are best described as blunt, much like his personality. he has dark reddish-brown hair, with eyes to match, and stands at the rather average height of 5'7". He's almost always smiling, if he can help it, though he's not particularly great at concealing other things he might be feeling from showing right through on his face. He's not quite as pale as the average Kilian, and muscled enough to wield weaponry despite the fact that he much prefers using magic. He carries himself more like a successful middle class merchant than a Kilian nobleman, who are typically famed for their cold demeanor and condescending attitudes; where they are aloof and detached, Justin is warm and open, and quite approachable.
