I did a couple of designs for Dave Matthews Band a bit ago, and got a free ticket (and bought two tickets for my sisters) to go see them play at one of the summer tour shows. Today I found out that we get to sit in the band's guest seating area AND we have access to the hospitality lounge! I'm pretty amped to go (hello, free food), and my sisters are super excited. My oldest sister started crying when I told her about it because she's such a big DMB fan. Ha!

Luckily there wasn't too much fighting.

I talked to my oldest sister on the phone today. There's been a lot of family drama going on lately, with my other sister coming out as a bisexual recently, people going to jail, porn star shizz etc. So my oldest sister tends to get really sensitive and dramatic about things. And then she was saying at some point she wants to sit down with me and talk about my beliefs. Great... I already know she's going to disagree with me. Fun stuff.

We went over to Native and ended up at DT Brew – how do we always end up there?

Anyway, I've been working on more designs. Did another jacket idea for Dave Matthews Band. I got an offer to do a design for a charity called Common Threadz where they raise money for student uniforms + an additional themed fund. I chose to do the one on Human Trafficking, and if I can get the design done in time (two weeks! Yikes!) then it will be featured at MTV Style Lounge at the end of the month! So I'm going to do my best to get 'er done.

In other designy news, Maria Bamford has a poll up for shirt sizes. If you want to get one, you should go vote!

I just discovered Loch Lomond. I'm sure David knows all about them since they're from Portland, but I guess they'll be playing in town on Sunday. Anybody want to go?

<lj-embed id="1" />

I'm going to try and post here again more consistently.

Things have been pretty busy as of late. Still doing the Threadless thing, but I've been getting a bunch of freelance offers too which has been pretty awesome.

I've been trying to be more social too (or at least on the weekends). So I've been going out a bit. Eva came to visit last week and that was, of course, much fun. So much havoc was wreaked. We danced with some crazy guys at Marti's and then went over to Native. She got tanked and three random guys ended up taking us home. Crazy night.

I did this design for a shirt for Maria Bamford.
Holiday Summary

Over the holidays, I visited family in Solvang. It was alright... I was kinda put to work the whole time, so I was actually somewhat relieved when Christmas was over. As much as I love that time of year, having to help out when others are excused really sort of puts a damper on the whole experience.

Anyway, after Christmas and post-Christmas shopping I got to go see David in Portland! I hadn't seen him since he moved so it was really great to be able to hang out for a few days. I met his boy and boy numba deux and they're awesome! After visiting there, I can see why he chose to move there – the people and the entire area really seem like a good fit for him. Anyway, we did some shopping, and wandering around town. It was cold! We also got to go out one night too. Went to a couple of clubs and pretty much danced up a storm. The bartender hooked us up with free drinks! Which was basically my crowning achievement of the whole trip. New Year's was pretty uneventful, which seemed fine with all of us (I had to fly out the next day anyway). All in all, I had a lot of fun and miss everyone already!

I really need to update this thing more often.

Quite some time ago, a random guy from a bar got my number. He came up on the dance floor pretty much right as we were leaving, and I thought I'd give him my number to make him leave us alone (figuring I'd screen my calls). He ended up calling about 3 times that week and left a couple of voicemails. I never called him back.

Tonight I got a call from an 805 area code. Remembering that my name was on the waiting list for the new imac, I picked up the call and it turned out to be that guy!! He started chit-chatting and I was in such a state of shock that I went along with it for a minute. Then he asked if I wanted to hang out. I told him that I was really busy for the next FEW weeks. So he was like, "Oh, so... uh... what if I call you in a few weeks? Can we hang out then??" So I said that he could try calling then. And then I saved his number under "Weird bar guy" so I now know not to take any calls from that number.

Seriously though... we met briefly for less than a minute a really long time ago at a bar. Does this strike anyone else as really really weird and/or desperate??

So my trip to Chicago was AMAZING. It was such a blast and everyone in the meet up was actually really cool! The weird thing was, even though it was a meet up with a bunch of internet people, we all got along like old friends.

On Friday night we got pizza at a really great pizza parlour. Afterwards, we went over to one of the guy's apartment (he works at threadless) for a kegger. Also, it was kinda strange, but before I even boarded my flight that day some random guy called me and basically invited himself along. Sure enough, he tagged along with us the whole time and he was WEIRD.

The next day we headed over to the Threadless headquarters for the party of doom. Their warehouse is awesome! They have video games, a ping pong table, a pool table and go karts. Also, we toured around a bit and got to see the millions of shirts in the warehouse. Upon arriving, we each got a goodie bag filled with fun tidbits. We worked on a super secret project while there, and learned some interesting secrets of things in the works. Also, we took product pictures! If you go Threadless.com you can see me wearing the select. Afterwards, we headed back over to Charlie's for another kegger.

Sunday, four of us went to Pitchfork Music Festival and saw Menomena, Junior Boys, Of Montreal and Klaxons. It was fun, and the bands were great! We made a ton of threadless tee sightings and even saw one of my (My Turn!). I, of course, attacked the girl who was wearing it and made her take a picture with me.

On Monday we went back to the headquarters to go buy the newly released tees. We also saw an improv comedy show.

There were a ton of little things that made the trip really great (like being packed into a tiny cab with 7 people, making fun of the creepy internet people, etc.). I can't even begin to list them all.

Oh, and I took PICTURES

BEST.
Last night I saw the Mad Caddies with Tyler and one of my co-workers. It was pretty nostalgic seeing a show like that again. And I also saw a couple of guys from highschool (which only added to the nostalgia). Afterwards we went to a couple of bars, I ran into my cousin and his wife and friends, and met up with another friend. With the exception of temporarily losing my phone, it was a fun night! I was pretty much beat for today though and tried not to fall asleep at work.

Tonight is anime night!

In two days I'll be leaving for Chicago... on Friday the 13th!
