Some pictures of my two most neglected boys (if you don't count the head-only Rumi and the Plague. On the account of my computer going "fell ova ded lol" and this piece of crap overheating at the mere suggestion of doing some work.

Anyway, November 19th was Kefka's birthday, and I thought I'd share some pictures. Because dammit, even if I fail at everything at the moment, at least I still have my own personal mad god.

OK, so there's a perfectly good reason behind this, despite it looking like mindless self-indulgence. See, I wanted to have a picture of Kefka and Leo in the right scale, and Leo just can't stand up. I had to basically tie him to Kefka to get him to pose properly.

Now, this one is mindless self-indulgence. Even though, you know, Kefka is probably about to strangle him with that scarf.

And, because it was a too nice shot to leave out, have some Leo getting all tied up. It's a good look for him:

Warning for bloody huge pictures, I suppose. Also, hints of slashiness. But that's to be expected in this LJ.

Any yes, that is approximately the canon height difference between the two.

I've been thinking about selling Lucca's head and having it replaced, because the head just wasn't what I wanted for the character. I just had no idea which head I did want. I think I might have found it. Even if she does have the wonkiest eyewells ever. She's supposed to take 16mm, but the whites of 16mm and 18mm are too small. Any bigger, though, and the iris wouldn't fit. Oh well, she's still pretty. Even in borrowed wig, eyes and body.

I think I might need an Iplehouse body for her. She's paler than most normal skin, but not as pale as white skin. Hm...

So, Leo and Kefka have extensive history. History that usually ends in one of them being injured and/or dead. Usually Leo. Not the easiest thing for them to deal with. Or for Leo to deal with, anyway, Kefka doesn't care. It's not a happy relationship most of the time. How do you deal with loving someone whose very nature you despise? (And who gleefully killed you...) By clinging tightly to every little moment of bliss, that's how. Self-delusion is never pretty. (It's also a pain to catch on camera)

Pictures are a direct result of me messing with camera settings.

So, my Dreaming Lion was going to be the alternate head for Leo, but things turned out differently, as they're wont to do. Leo is nowhere near ready to be shown, he still needs to be modded and given a faceup, but while waiting for the materials I need, I have a new member of the household to get to know.

This is Dusk. A very washed out Dusk, but still. He's a very calm person, thoughtful and intellectual, but that's about all I know about him. Except that he's definitely meant to be dark-haired and dark-eyed. I've tried a few combinations on him, and this is the one I like the best.

This is the look I ended with for him; I have a distinct lack of darker wigs.

Is it a wonder I've fallen in love with him?

I'm working on the next canon story with the Deathshadow household. But because I need to clean my room first (which isn't happening until I can afford a new lightbulb for my stupid lamp with special bulbs, I need to actually see my room!), and then set up the props, it'll take time.

So I figured I'd do random smut. Because I like random smut. *chuckles* And because I wanted to test the poll option, you can now help chose the participants!

You might notice that Haze is not on the uke list. That's because I like being alive, thank you very much. He doesn't do submissive. And since 'Dina is the only one with enough authority to make him submit, it's not going to happen. 'Dina can certainly do seme, but only if his partner wants to be uke. Otherwise... ...Well, he's not very passionate. He'll just lay there, really. Maybe even read a book...

Some backstory for Matai and Haze. It was going to be Matai dancing, but he wouldn't hold a pose while standing, so it turned into something else entirely. This is set in the past, before Cha became part of the family, and while Matai was still "stalking" 'Dina. Haze ran into Matai in 'Dina's lair and decided it'd be amusing to take something that belonged to his brother. No words, because it's 8AM in the morning, I have lecture in two hours, and ~~smut~~pictures say more than thousand words. It doesn't really need words.

Isn't she adorable? She's an Orientdoll Vampire Ji. I bought her from eelpot, to be Kefka's pet dollie, because as I've said a million times, the relationship between Kefka and Terra intrigues me. Terra is technically not "alive" in my doll's setting, she's a doll who belongs to Kefka. He occasionally thinks she's alive, but he's crazy and doesn't count. Something tells me Leo won't be too happy about that when he comes...

She's still in need of a proper green wig, and eventually green eyes. I also want to make her a little slave crown. Because she can wear stuff for Kelly dolls, she'll probably end up having a lot of stuff to her name eventually. Sewing for someone that small kills me.

How to make an easy scarf!

For those who don’t knit or crochet, and for those of us who do, but like trying other things. Finger weaving, they call this and it’s very simple.

What you’ll need:
* Yarn. Any kind will do, but some are better than others, see note later on.
* Scissors. You don’t [b]need[/b] them, but it’s a lot easier cutting yarn than tearing it off.
* Hands. I assume most of us have these.

We learned to do this when I was in first grade, and it’s an excellent way to make a quick scarf. It doesn’t take any skills other than being able to tie a knot, and lift loops of yarn.

First, you tie the end of your yarn to your thumb. Not too hard; you’ll be taking it off again fairly soon.

Once that’s done, you weave the yarn between your fingers, in a sort of slalom pattern. Then you weave it back again the opposite way, so all your fingers have loops on them.

Take the yarn and pull it around, laying it over the loops on your fingers.

Then, you pull each loop over the yarn and your fingertips, so you’ll have just a single loop left on each finger. Keep doing this for a while.

Once you’ve done this for some rounds, I usually do between six and ten, loosen the yarn from your thumb and pull at it. You should now have the beginning of your scarf, and be able to see the shape and pattern.

Keep doing rounds, pulling the yarn at the end every once in a while to see how long it’s gotten. It shouldn’t take you long to have enough for a quite long scarf, depending of course a bit on your BJD’s height. This is fairly easy and quick, though, and even for a Hound or similar size, you’ll have a scarf in no time. It took less than ten minutes to make one in this size, even with photos.

Finished product! It has a quite pretty structure, and suits a larger BJD very well. (Though Kefka is not very happy to have to model…)

For a smaller doll, you might want to use only three fingers, otherwise doing the same, and you’ll be better off with a smaller yarn. The one I used above would look big on a 45cm BJD. So for them, try thinner yarn. The basics are still the same.

You don’t have to pull at the yarn often; it can build up very well. And it’s sort of fun to let it, and see how long it’ll be when you finally do pull. There’s quite a difference.

When you’re ready to finish, you cut off the yarn.

Then you pull it through your loops, one by one. Then you pull and you should have a small knot in the end.

These ends, on either side, can be used to fasten ornaments or pompoms, or anything else you want, or they can be looped through the scarf for few times and tied off.

A note about the yarn: You can use any kind of yarn for this. For my two scarves, I used a fancy yarn in a wool/acrylic/polyester mix and an acrylic/lurex mix. For the acrylic/lurex one, I used two different yarns, because the thinner the yarn, the larger the holes. Yarn with high cotton content should probably be used double, because they have very big holes. Also, be a bit careful with cotton yarn, because it can burn you pretty badly if you drag it across your fingers.

Here’s a good example of the different yarns. Two woollier ones and one cotton/acrylic. You can see how different thickness there is.

You can also vary a bit with using more or less fingers. Here are three strands done with two, four and five fingers. If you want to do five, you’ll need to tie the yarn to something else.

Here’s the 60cm scarf and the 45cm one side by side, as a comparison.

The great advantage of this, apart from simplicity and speed, is that it’s not as limiting to the movements as knitting and crocheting. I occasionally do during lectures, because I don’t have to put it away to type. Not only can you easily hold a pen with the weave on, but you’re also weaving on the hand you don’t use to write with.

* For the sake of continuity, let’s say Kefka’s makeup is greasepaint, and that’s why it’s still smudged there, even in the bath. The stuff sticks.
* Yes, Kefka is taller than Flea. Of course, there are no official stats for Flea, but my version is roughly 5’1”, while Kefka is 5’4”. Flea’s slightly heavier, though, at 110lbs while Kefka is 105lbs. Not that it matters, they’re roughly the same size as dolls.
* Kefka knows he’s crazy. He just doesn’t define craziness quite like the rest of us do. More on that later.

Well, I got tagged for a meme. Doesn't happen often, so...

1. I am a lot older than I look. And no, I won't tell you exactly how old. I lost count a while back.
2. I have problems telling the difference between right and left. The "remember which hand you write with" trick doesn't help, I'm ambidextrous.
3. I am, unlike what everyone likes to think, not gay. I quite like women. They're all soft and curvy. I just also quite like men.
4. I won't wear pants unless I have an extremely good reason.
5. I often sleep upside down, a habit left over from all the time spent in bat shape.

Future Dolls Take II

Why yes, I'm stalling. At least I haven't spammed you all with pictures of Flea's finished outfit yet. And I'm in the middle of shooting my first canon story with Flea and Kefka. I have to work while the weather is good. It requires being outside.

And now, prepared to be drawn into my future plans by teh Cute!

Terra! Isn't she adorable? She'll be an Orientdoll Ji, eventually. I just need to sort out my budget. She'll be the only of my dolls that isn't really "alive" in the stories, as she's Kefka's doll. He thinks she's alive at times, though.

These two are first in my plans, though. Kenaniah and Thaddeus. 'Niah is the white-haired one and Thad the black-haired one. Thad is the older one, but he's also more shy and reclusive than his younger twin. And 'Niah is very protective of Thad. Thad also idealises his "sister" 'Dina, while 'Niah is more like Haze. And yes, they're both shota-bait. *grins*

Leo. I'm pretty set on Lion as his mold by now. I originally considered Soo Ri, but Lion looks a bit older and also more gentle, which fits Leo. Ideally, Iplehouse would release a Tan Lion, but since I doubt they will before I've saved up for him, I'll probably have to tan him myself. Not that I care, I'm just happy to have found a good mold. And one I like so much, too. Plus, he'll be taller than Kefka, which is a plus since Kefka is technically rather tiny.

Finally, Magus. AKA Janus of Zeal, but never call him that. Toriyama draws Magus all muscley, but it never made sense to me. Magus is a mage, though he fights physically with a scythe. Mages aren't all that bulky, and scythes take control, not muscles to use. Besides, with Magus' obsessiveness, I wouldn't be surprised if he forgot to eat fairly often. And Toriyama draws all his men all bulky, anyway. So nyah. Hound matches my mental image of Magus better than most dolls except maybe Bermann, and I'm not even trying for one of those, I don't need that stress. Besides, while Magus is a fairly moody guy, and Hound has that little smile, Magus also likes grinning at other people's misfortune...

I should go take more pictures now. But... ... 'Allo 'Allo is on in twenty minutes. I'll just have to wait.

I dragged Kefka out in the garden to take some pictures. He doesn't really appreciate greenery much, but he's easily distracted (and it rains too much for him to start any grassfires...)

The sixth one is still my favourite.

Since I took these, I've sewed gold trim along the entire cloak, by hand *whimpers at memory*, and I'm working on making the collar-thingy look right. It should probably be a circle, like the cloak itself.

Yes, yes. I know I said I'd put up Kefka's vacation review next. I'm working on it.

Made Matai do some wig modelling, because if any of my dolls were made for showing off, Matai was... Cross-posted to DoA and ConDoll, but you get the full commentary. Consider yourselves unlucky!

Blond Luts wig. I think it's a DW-12. Can't remember.

Please excuse the glare. Those doors are very reflective. I could have used the other, less shiny side, but the brown colour compliments Matai's look.

My pretty, pretty incubusling. You can tell here that some piercings were just glued on. They sadly fall off a lot.

This wig fits his tiny little noggin pretty damn well compared to most others.

[ rhapsodisiac ] Undercut wig in coffee cream/pale brown. This is technically Leo's wig, but who knows when he'll come home. Around christmas time if I'm lucky. In the meantime, Matai gets to look like a bad boy in it...

Matai has killer legs. I guess it's the whole long-legged thing that does it. And those boots certainly make him look even more lucious.

Fur wig by Kiriko Moth. I've forgotten what colour it is, though. I call it the "I was hit by lightning" wig. Or the "Bolt!" wig, when I'm dealing with Kefka.

Of course, Haze is Tenshi no Sumika FCS while Matai is Tenshi no Sato FCS, and they are way different personalities. And no, Haze is not happy that Matai is taller than him. (Then again, apart from when he's with Cha, when is Haze ever happy?)
