Update on my cold, if anyone cares. My sinuses are so full my eyes are red and swollen. I look like someone punched me in both of them. It's a sexy new look I'm trying out this year. So far, I'm not loving it.
Seriously, can this cold be over with already?
Because I've just been hanging out on the couch, I did finish up Nanny Returns last night, which was thoroughly enjoyable. Of course, now I want to read The Real Real, but do you think any bookstore has it in stock? Of course not.

What's everyone up to tonight?
I have a date with the couch (I know, not that that's anything new), but I'm finally starting to feel a wee bit better after the last two weeks of head cold turned sore throat/cough turned stomach bug turned back into head cold/cough (which is where I'm at right now - with a gigantic cold sore I might add) and I don't want to mess with that.
I only had to work until noon today, so I stopped off at the mall on the way home and watched Nine and picked up Nanny Returns. The movie was very enjoyable, but it took quite a while to warm up to it and realize that I was actually enjoying it. While I was definitely into the sexy women, the flashy costumes, and the singing and dancing, for me it was one of those movies where I realized how much I really liked it once the credits started to roll. Do you know what I mean?
In other news, how about that homosexual sex on OLTL? And James Franco on GH? Yay, ABC soaps!
Anyway, I'm off to the fridge to figure out what I want to make for dinner. Hope everyone has a wonderful night!

I have a full day planned and I just woke up with a really sore throat and cough. I finally got rid of that horrible cold two days ago, and now this. I don't know if it's something separate, so some residual effect from the cold. Either way, I'm not pleased. Not to mention I slept in some contorted fashion last night so everything is stiff and sore.
Today we got up at the crack of dawn, went shopping for an hour (I got the ring I wanted for 50% off!), and came home and went back to to bed. Got up a little later and went back out to see Sherlock Holmes, which I found to be incredible entertaining and fully of pretty people, but not overly fantastic. Bob is super enjoyable in almost any role, and this one really worked for him. Jude Law (Whose first name is actually David? Huh.) was lovely as well, as was Rachel. Also, Iron Man 2 trailer!
Just got home from seeing Up In The Air, which was very enjoyable, and not as depressing as I expected it to be. George was as charismatic as ever (I swear whenever I see a movie with him in it I have to remind myself that I don't actually know him), and boy does he wear those crows feet of his well. Further proof that nothing looks bad on that man. Anna Kendrick was so very refreshing and she did a really wonderful job. And thrill of all thrills, Chris Lowell had a brief appearance in the film! (Of course I gasped like a fool when his name showed up on screen.) So that was an added bonus.
The plan for the rest of the night is food and Merlin season 2. And speaking of food, here's a fun tip I picked up on The Viewtoday; make ice cubes out of chocolate milk to put in Bailey's or other creamy drinks. Sounds yummy, doesn't it?
Anyway, not to get mushy, but know that I'm thinking of you all and wish you all the very best. I know I haven't been around LJ that much lately, but I hope you all realize how much I appreciate each and every one of you.
*hugs and kisses*

I'm trying so hard to be good, but I caved and ordered some cranberry white chocolate cookies from Mrs. Fields. They're just soooo good, and only available this time of year.
I have a vicious head cold and I just started my period. If you need me, I'll be curled up on the couch with Matt Bomer.
(I just started White Collar last night and I was sold after the first 10 seconds. OK, I was sold back in October when I found out Matt was going to be in his own USA series, but whatever.)

pepper
36 fresh mushrooms, cleaned, stems removed

These things should be illegal, but I'm sure glad they're not.

Just got home from Best Buy where they had 500 Days of Summer already for sale (it doesn't come out until Tuesday).
That's the third time I've found something tucked away on a shelf before its release date, and I have to say, I get such a rush from it. Unfortunately, in this case their $25 price tag stopped me from picking it up.
I did head right over to the J section to see if the same thing had been done with Jennifer's Body. It had not.

I wanted to post about the season 4 finale of Dexter, instead I seem to be find myself staring at the computer screen trying to figure out what season 5 is going to bring. There are just so many things to consider:

Just got home from a lovely weekend in Toronto with
bigboobedcanuck. We went to see The Nutcracker (it was my first time and I just loved it - the land of snow with the dancing snowflakes was my favorite scene), got to visit and catch up with
sandstorm63,
wildsweetcool and
mayzey, watched holiday movies (I really need to get Bridget Jones Diary), and ate way too many of my peanut butter balls. I lost count of how many I consumed, but I have a feeling not knowing the exact number is likely better than knowing just how many I actually put away.
We also went to see Precious (which was very well done, but as I suspected it would, left me feeling depressed) and A Single Man, which I will say is probably one of the best movies I've seen all year. Colin Firth is simply astounding. And the film was just so beautiful on so many different levels (if you go, pay special attention to the lighting, I was just captivated by it), and I can't seem to stop thinking about various conversations and scenes from it (and surprisingly I'm not talking about the clothes - but they were something else as well). Needless to say, the film resonated very strongly with me.
Did anyone go see Brothers? It looks so good, I'm just worried about how sad it will be.
Since I've been away from the computer for a few days, it was an extra special treat to come back to so many pretty v-gifts. Thanks to everyone who sent me one. XOXO
Oh, and I finally tried nog with alcohol in it. Not bad, not bad at all. I could use another glass right now actually.

As per usual, the new Harry Potter trailer has given me goosebumps, reduced me to tears, and made me want to re-read that particular tale. Sometimes it really hits me that there are no more books coming out, and while I am so pleased with how the story ended, how could I not want more?
Dh Preview One - The most amazing home videos are here
Also, a new Kyle pic from A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Oh, and a question: does anyone know if the Blu-Ray HP:HBP DVD will have all the same features as the 2-disc special edition? Thanks!

Happy Thankgiving, Americans! Here's wishing you all a wonderfully festive day. ♥
I called in to work today. I woke up and was so nauseous and icky that I couldn't even contemplate the thought of going in.
Instead I laid on the couch, read some Harry/Draco, and drank enough tea to fill a bathtub (OK, odd comparison, but you get the idea).
Oh, and I also watched last week's episode of Dexter, and let me tell you, that scene where Deb had her shirt off? It made me want to swear off food. Dang, girl!

And yes, I'm talking about New Moon.
For as much as I disliked the first film, I loved this one (the Jacob/Bella parts anyway - which is like 95% if the movie). I'm an Edward girl as far as the books are concerned, but on screen, I'm a Jacob gal all the way. Taylor and Kristen have soooo much chemistry, it just sizzles on screen. Not to mention the fact that the boy is beautiful.
PS: Bella Swan, when you're done with that purple Target comforter set (the one I really wanted and procrastinated in getting, and in turn missed out on), let me know. Seeing as you've had it for two films now, I'd think it's time for a new one. And you certainly have the budget for it now.
PPS: Where did you get the henley you were wearing in the last scene? I'm sure I know it from somewhere, I just can't seem to place it.

Went to see David Cook with my sister and her friend last night. I was very undecided about going, but when they stopped by to pick up the tickets they weren't taking no for an answer. And boy am I glad they were insistent, because I had a really fantastic time. He sounded amazing in person. Not to mention those lower notes of his really hit you in the, well you get the idea.
Our seats were not so great (OK, terrible), but by the middle of the opening number we were pressed up against the stage, and needless to say that was a much better view. David was dressed to please (me, anyway) in a purple button down with rolled up sleeves, grey linen pants, and super sexy black snakeskin boots (he has serious Slytherin potential).
The lead singer of their opening act was out with a cold, so David played longer than normal, which was fine by all of us. The most surprising part of the evening was that even with a longer set, he didn't do "Time of My Life," which I found pretty ballsy. I didn't care one way or the other, I was just expecting it to be the final encore song.
The moral of the evening is this: when abstaining from coffee for a week, don't re-introduce it into your system at 11:30pm. It is in no way conducive to a good night's sleep.
Oh, and the flash drive seems to be fully functioning. Thank goodness.

Will a flash drive work after a quick dip in a glass of juice?
I have no idea. But I'm going to give it a try. I'll keep you updated.

For me, the official start of holiday season is marked by the first holiday cup I get from Starbucks. That happened on Thursday. Today, it's 68 and sunny out. Guess what? I'll take it. Both the beautiful cups, and the sun. It's soooo nice out right now.
There's a new holiday beverage out this year, the Caramel Brulee Latte/Frappucchino. I'm itching to try both, but at 310 calories and 66 carbs in the latte I'll think I'll have to wait and make it a treat. (Oh, after playing with some variations of the drink on the site, I've come to learn that there's only 150 calories in a tall light frap, which actually isn't bad at all. Hrm. Is it wrong that I'm now tempted to go back?)
Speaking of food, while I don't eat a lot of meat in the first place, Thursday's episode of Bones has kind of turned me off of it again. I don't eat pork at all, first off because I don't really enjoy the taste of any pork products, but also because I can't get those little piggy faces out of my head. They're just too darn cute.
I gave up KFC for over 2 years after PETA issued all their complaints against them, and have only had it once in Canada after their band was lifted here (the farms US KFC gets their meat from is still mistreating all their poor little chickens).
Of course, I watched Bones last night. Guess what we were planning on having for dinner tonight? That's right, chicken.

Just finished watching Friday's The Mentalist and all I have to say is "FINALLY!!"
Also, I still really miss the season 1 credits.
