ragingquietly, posting in wow_ladies @ 9:31pm: How I Loathe WSG...Usually!
I'm burnt out on battlegrounds. I was doing them nonstop for almost two weeks when I first turned 70 on my mage in order to get my gear. I had to stop because we lose way too much in my battlegroup and I needed a break. I am still doing my daily pvp though. Tonight was WSG. I hate that bg with a passion, but tonight I was pleasantly surprised. I entered the first one and it only lasted 10 minutes. We won. Best of all, I captured the flag twice. I never even try to capture the flag being squishy and all. No one else was attempting to though, so I thought what the hell. I think I should do that more often. That's the most fun I've ever had in WSG. Anyone else ever have fun in a bg you usually hate?

Subject explains it all...

I haven't felt compelled to log into WoW for almost a month now. Friends harass me on AIM to get on, either because they want me to do something or want to help me level, get my epic flier, etc. Yet, I never do.

I actually logged in the other night and people were shocked that I was on. The game just no longer interests me. Could be because of RL matters, the fact that I know I'll never go to MH or BT (and that saddens me a bit), or simply that after 3 years - I'm done...

I've even gotten into the beta and hardly touch it, which makes me feel horrible because I know there are people out there that would die to get in. I just have no interest.

The game is a grind, someone explained that to me once. You grind for rep, for gear, for pvp rewards, for items, for covering raiding costs - everything is a grind... That totally sapped the fun out of WoW entirely when I thought of it.

I need to find whoever told me that and punch them - really hard. I'm hoping that leveling alts will get me interested in the game again - I just need to LOG IN before I can do that.
knowledgequeen, posting in wow_ladies @ 12:09am: RP?
Anyone who's not a writer or an RPer or something like that will think I'm nuts, but what hurts me is when even RPers think I'm nuts.

I RP and I write. I've written three unpublished novellas, and my toons are just more canvas for me to play on. My home is Moon Guard Alliance and I've had such a blast playing my priestess and my other assorted alts and all their flaws and perks and imperfections. Sometimes, characters get away from me. I'm not saying like, I walk around my real life saying I hear their voices or something. But if I'm RPing, and I want a toon to do X, sometimes Y will come out of my fingers and into the message window. Good characters have a voice and a face and a mood of their own.

Tonight I took my priestess out of an RP situation because she was so clearly unhappy and zoning out. I had a friend whisper me going "why did you leave?" and when I explained he said "you're crazy, you know that?"

That hurt. Really hurt. My real life is stressful and busy - I'm in flippin' law school - and I can manage it just fine thank you. This guy is a friend, and a writer - I thought he would understand. A character with no voice is nothing. Less than one dimensional.

I suppose this is just a vent, but really, am I insane, or just a writer?

last recruit post  from me for a while, I promise!

Instability of Dath'remar (US-PvE-Alliance) is looking for one or two exceptional Shadow Priests. we have a couple with us at the moment, but we don't believe that they are performing at their best. they are, in all fairness, alts turned main, so we don't expect them to be uber just yet. but a couple of experienced SPriests to show them how to do it wouldn't go astray :)

we raid Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun 8:30pm (AEST +10 GMT) to 11:30pm server time. we raid Kara and ZA on offnights, and are working on downing Vashj whilst progressing through MH and BT.

should this sound like something you'd like to venture into, please don't hesitate to drop an app at http://instability.dkpsystem.com or contact myself (Nerielle), Aelstrom, Pwnerdin, Moondielm or Nymphis in game.

Hello all - just joined the comm a moment ago, and I thought you all might be amused by a strange sight I saw today.

I was toying around with a baby Night Elf alt, and I'd just like to know how someone managed to die - sans clothing - in the middle of this cauldron.

Nelf Soup, anyone? )

I'm sure someone can think of a good caption.

Otherwise - hi! I play a Draenei hunter and a Belf mage. (That's him in my icon up there. :P)

travelinjen, posting in runners @ 7:26pm: Ate too much junkfood this week and ran too little.  Okay, this has gone on for two weeks now.  Next week school starts so I'll have to run in the evenings instead of in the mornings like I've been fortunate to do all year.  Plus, I'll be around little seven year old germ factories, so I may miss running due to being sick...a sad fact...

Part of my problem is that I don't have any events coming up.  I think I may do the Long Beach half marathon just to keep my energy up.  Then, I'm trying to decide between LA and Surf City.  And I think the new Seattle Rock and Roll next summer looks good....

One of the things I've noticed is that although my legs look great, my stomach is looking worse.  I'd like to be able to wear a two-piece bathing suit next summer--or those cute bra tops that show the midriff.

Any ab exercises that compliment running?  I've tried crunches, but either I'm not doing them right or not doing enough of them to make a difference.  What works?

I am looking forward to having more stable slots (5 right?) in wrath. I'm looking around for some fun pets in the meantime since it looks like every family will be viable, unlike now.

Question: will "inferior" caster pets still have inferior stats in wrath? If I tame a caster nether ray (I was the red netherskate) now and carry it over to wotlk, will its stats be buffed up to a noncaster? or should I wait to tame it? Or will pets that currently have caster stats still have caster stats in wrath no matter when they are tamed?

Thanks for any advice.

I apologize for flooding your flists, but I just wanted to post a quick update on http://community.livejournal.com/wow_ladies/6621606.html?view=95402662#t95402662

long story short, in case you don't feel inclined to read walls of text - I was agonizing over leaving the guild I love for a more progressed guild that I also have friends in and like the attitudes of, and I was afraid that my original guildies and friends will not take it well and will be angry at me for leaving.

I was a boob and gave myself needless headache.  They were a little upset, but very supportive.  Maybe becasue they saw how much the decision cost me and that I didn't make it lightly or wasn't lured by progression alone.  And maybe becasue I should have listened to you smart ladies (and gents) and realized that yes, if they really were friends, they would know that I didn't just use them as a stepping stone.  I'm emotionaly exausted, but I think I've managed to find a way to keep my friends AND progress within a game.

megami, posting in runners @ 5:35pm: Active.com
Is anyone else hating Active.com?

I've been trying to register for a race (Aflac's Iron Girl Seattle 5k) for the last two days. When I was faced with an error yesterday, I thought it was a problem being worked on so I left it alone. It didn't work late last night and it's still not working today. Thanks to that, I missed the deadline to have my name on my bib (which admittedly is not a huge deal, but still kinda cool to have). Online registration closes on the 4th and they're not going to be in until the 2nd (my birthday! :D)!! I don't want to miss this race! :(

Every time I have to register through Active.com, I have to go a super round-about way to register. I login every time I want to register for something and when it brings me to the actual registration page, it has me down as
Unknown Unknown and I have to act as if I'm registering someone else (me) in order to get it to go through with my name. This has been this way for me for SEVERAL months. Is anyone else facing the same issue? I groan every time a race forces me to register via Active.com. :P

zwee, posting in wow_ladies @ 7:13pm: Yet another guild charter sig. request

The guild I'm in is in the process of imploding. We just got word today, and I just finished helping the GL kick ppl who've been inactive for more than 14 days. The guild banks is now a garage sale and the bank's contents are going to be sold and the profits divvied up between the remaining most recently active players at the end of this long weekend.

So, I've got yet another guild charter that needs signing. It's just for a social, mainly chatting, some farming and some playing-type guild. Signing doesn't require that you remain a member, I just want to have one up and running so the refugees from my current-but-not-for-long guild can have someplace already set up where we can go back to chatting.

Anyone in Alleria/Alliance who'd be willing to help a sister out with some sigs?
If so, look for Tabarnaque, she's a lowbie Draenei priest, probably perched in IF or SW.

I'm trying to get Darnassus rep so I can get the kitty mount. I have done all the darkshore and ashanvale quests that I know of and those have got me about halfway through revered. Does anyone know where else I can quest I may have missed or a website that lists the faction quests? Thanks in advance. :)

Tauren look so much better on the netherdrake than on a wyvern. The drake looks like it can actually carry her with very little effort. :P

And it seems like nearly everyone picks the black one (and it is very pretty!), but I rather like the green one. He's like a giant winged iguana!

danceofmisery, posting in wow_ladies @ 5:17pm: LF good horde-side pvp server
Hey ladies! I hate to post one of these, I know i've seen post like this before but I couldn't find one for the life of me. anyway..

My friends are coming back to the game and want to make some horde side toons. So i'm looking for a server for us to re-roll on.
It needs to be a PvP server. Looking for it to be active horde side with nice people (well as long as the majority of them arn't compleate jerks were ok). My friends like to do alot of PvP, but i'm into raiding so i'd like to still be able to do that. A nice guild that is open to both boys and girls would be a plus, though we are considering making our own so maybe guilds who do raiding alliance with a guild/person would be nice, but not necessary.

So any recommendations for a nice horde side pvp server would be appreciated.
Thanks ladies!
travelogger, posting in runners @ 5:16pm: Results From Zurich
I promised I would post the results of the 100m at today's Golden League meet, so here they are. I guess Bolt is human, after all.... no lowering of his crazy-fast WR, but a fantastic time nonetheless.

1 Usain Bolt JAM 9.83
2 Walter Dix USA 9.99
3 Richard Thompson TRI 10.09
4 Travis Padgett USA 10.11
5 Churandy Martina AHO 10.13
6 Michael Frater JAM 10.15
7 Emmanuel Callander TRI 10.17
7 Marc Burns TRI 10.17

In the other distances, Wariner won the 400m with a good time of 43.82, beating LaShawn Merritt (44.43) as payback for his Beijing loss. Kenenisa Bekele won the 5000m (what else is new) in a time of 12:50.18, with the rest of the field almost 10 full seconds behind him. Allyson Felix won the 200m (22.37), and Pamela Jelimo continued her absolute dominance of the 800m with a time of 1:54.01.
jerseyjess, posting in runners @ 4:59pm: Running buddies.
Argh, my running buddy is ditching me for three whole months to go do some stupid away rotation in DC! As he pointed out, this is the longest amount of time we've been separated for.
So now I need to find a new one for my weekend long runs and it's just so hard to find one that's right. I mean, the one I have now wakes up to do 7:30AM Sunday long runs with me, he goes at my pace, we talk the whole time...i don't think i'm going to be able to find a replacement. The other guy I used to run with has knee problems now, the other one strained both calves, and the girl I used to run with no longer gets up early in the morning to run. (I need to do it at the beginning of the day, I'm asthmatic so I have to get the run in before it gets humid)

Mmmph. A good running buddy is hard to find.

aphraeldanae, posting in wow_ladies @ 4:14pm: Hunter armory question
Hey all

I posted before about my BM Nelf Hunter's gear and was wondering if I can get another critique.

I've re-equipped to provide more agility and stamina, as per previous suggestions. I'm slowly working my way to Outlands (2 more levels!) and was wondering about any gear to work for once there. Our guild isn't going to be very raid heavy, if at all (we're veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery casual), so I'm not necessarily working towards raid gear at this point.

Thanks (again) in advance!

marskitten, posting in wow_ladies @ 3:00pm: Solanas: Beater of Ass, Knight of Phobos (maybe not)
So been leveling my new NE warrior Solanas like mad on Shattered Hand and i'm finally up to 18. I've gone from barely able to handle equal level fights to totally smacking npcs and people down 2-3 at a time. Also I'm now geared almost entirely in blues from just whites, grays and greens.

Its good to be a twink, except rogues still pwn me, damn instant use attacks. Ah well, now to catch up to my g/f @ 24 tonight ^-^b.
lightgatherer, posting in wow_ladies @ 1:10pm: Alts are serious business
On my primary server I have two accounts completely filled with played characters, bank characters, or name holder characters. The played characters account for the majority of those slots, and honestly, I don't have time to play that many characters.

With the expansion looming, I decided that I needed to sit down and take stock of my characters. I decided that I needed to be realistic - I won't have time to get the entire bunch to 80, get them reasonably geared, grind reputation, and work on their professions. I told myself that I needed to pare down to six characters - one healer, one tank, and one dps for each faction.

I started thinking about what I've read about the future of each of the classes in the expansion, what levels my characters are now, professions my characters have, professions I want to have, my history with the character...and my head started spinning. I had to sit down and make a spreadsheet to keep it all straight. *headdesk* Alts are serious business, don't you know?

In the end, I didn't meet my goal of six characters. My goal of three Horde characters was easy, but I have too many Alliance characters to pare down to just three. As a compromise, I've decided to give my Alliance tank and healer the most attention and allow myself three dps characters just for fun.

My characters who didn't make the cut to go on to 80 aren't going to be deleted, though - I won't delete a character over level 20. Instead, I'll have the fun of coming up with a story for each of them as to why they are giving up adventuring and settling down somewhere.

Am I the only one who puts this much planning (I still can't believe I made a spreadsheet....) into my characters?
