Hi LJ, I kind of forgot about you!

I'm seriousy procrastinating, I have loads of stuff to do because school starts tomorrow... Okay, I'm not going to think about that, think of happy things...happy things.

Anyway, my Christmas was a bit meh. I didn't do much. I spent the first day reading a book, and I finished it that day, too bad I can't use it for school. But I got a really fancy camera for Christmas so I'm happy tinkering with it. I got really, really drunk on New Years eve, a bit too drunk, ( I was talking about dancing with faeries, and really did made sense to me at the time) but i didn't have that much of a hangover, yay!

I somehow managed to trick to my Goth friends into coming to a KT Tunstall gig with me! Yaaay. But this means I have to be really nice them for the next four months, and I have to go to a heavy metal concert with them...sigh. But I'm so excited about the KT Tunstall gig!

Leather - Tori Amos. I just love this song, it's so... different, and weird in a very good way.

Leave me Alone - The Corrs - I've never taken this song completely serious, because it sounds so '90s, but it's still a nice song.

Linger - The Cranberries - I haven't listened to this song in a while, but it's really beautiful. And I just like the word 'Linger' for some reason.

London Rain - Heather Nova - Rain in London doesn't bother me at all, and that's why I love the lyric 'nothing falls like London rain'. It's so true. It sounds funny, I know =p

Long Night - The Corrs - The Corrs again! This song is so beautiful! I love how it builds and builds and there's this apex. I love it.

Love will come through - Travis - I recently 'discovered' Travis, and I really like their stuff. It's so melodic and a bit melancholic, I think that's a great combination.

Losing my Religion - R.E.M. - Everytime I hear this song, I go back to the moment I first heard it. It was in my niece's car, I was about eight, and I felt really grown up because my niece's was taking me to McDonald's! It was also special because my parents don't play music when they're driving, and she did. It stuck with me for some reason.

Leaving so soon? - Keane - Beautiful song, it's just so sad. The person who's singing it, obviously loves this woman very much, but she doesn't love him back, it's so sad.

Lazarus - KT Tunstall & Sophie Solomon - I had this on repeat when it first came out, so I know it by heart. I think I've played it about 300 times at least.

Loser - Dolores O'Riordan - Her accent is funny. I like the message this song has: If you don't treat me right, I'll leave. Many people say that, but only a few actually leave. I like this song.

An update on me

It's been a while! Lots happened, I had a great summer. I've been really busy, I had three jobs and I went to Dublin and London. I really love both cities. London is HUGE and busy and chaotic, but that's what I love about it. The tube is the greatest invention ever. I bought Andrea's single there, so I was happy. And of course, I spent way too much money on clothes, but it's pretty impossible to control your spending in London.

Dublin was also really great. It's big, but not as big as London. The people there are really, really friendly. I found out that you can study photography there, so I've sent an email to that institute, it's called DIT (Dublin Institute of Technology) , I asked them if they would accept me as a student. I'm still waiting for a reply. *fingers crossed*

This is my last year of secondary school, so I'm really busy with tests, exams and papers. I'm so glad this is my last year, because I'm really fed up with school and some people and the teachers. I just want to go somewhere else and start all over again, make new friends etc. Of course I'll miss my parents and some of my old friends, but I just really want to get out of here.

I hope you all are well, and I'm sorry that I haven't been commenting on your journals!

I'm sooo excited. Tori Amos new album's gonna be released in May, just like Andrea's wooohoooo. And, AND, Tori Amos will be performing in Amsterdam, july-ish. I'm probably going to be there, if I get the money. YAAAAY.

Hello!
I took the pictures for this wallpaper myself, and I'm quite proud of it. *grin*
The second is the result of me being bored. The textures are by _excentric_ and me.

I want to thank zoebeth for commenting on almost every entry. *huggle*
A short story in dutch by me is under the cut.

Slapeloosheid?

De uren schoven voorbij en de nacht draaide. De klok herinnerde me er met elke tik van de secondewijzer aan. Iedereen om me heen sliep. Weg waren ze, in hun eigen wereld. Tik, tak. Slapeloosheid, dat had ik. Het plaagde me, elke paar maanden. Trok me weg uit mijn veilige haven van kleurrijke dromen, en lokte me naar de schaduwen van de nacht. Tik, tak. Medicijnen hielpen niet, ze waar te zwaar of te licht. Therapie had geen invloed, schaapjes tellen evenmin. De volgende dag zou ik weer een wandelend wrak zijn. Een wrak met slaaptekort. Dan zeggen sommige mensen; ‘Wat zie jij er moe uit. Slaap je wel genoeg?’
De wereld is nu nog grijs. Over een paar uur zal er wat kleur in de wereld verschijnen, en het rumoer zal aanheffen. Ik trok mezelf omhoog en ging op de rand van het bed zitten. Ik wiegde heen en weer. Naar voor en achter. Om de stemmen van de dag uit mijn hoofd te verbannen. Ik hief mijn hoofd op en staarde naar de muur. Iets begon zich te vormen in het midden van mijn blikveld. Ik hield mijn hoofd schuin. Speelden mijn ogen een spelletje met me? Nee, het leek echt. Het was een silhouet van een hand. Het veranderde van zwart naar grijstonen. De hand duwde zich door de muur heen, maar de muur barstte niet. Met de vingertoppen naar mij toe maakte de vingers kleine beweginkjes, als zeewier dat met de stroming meedrijft. Plotseling werden de bewegingen sneller, krampachtiger. Een fluister vertelde mij haar woorden. Ik voelde warme adem tegen allebei mijn oren aanstromen. Mijn ogen zagen de condens van warme, vochtige adem die in de ijskoude lucht bevriest.
‘Zet je vingertoppen tegen mijn hand aan en je zult nooit meer last hebben van slapeloosheid.’
Ik zette mijn wijsvinger tegen de andere wijsvinger aan. Een razendscherpe kou snelde door mijn vinger heen. Ik moest doorzetten. Ik drukte mijn handpalm en vingers tegen de ander hand aan. Een kou, zoals ik nog nooit gevoeld had, benevelde mijn geest. Ik kon niet meer helder denken, ik voelde alleen nog maar. Moe, werd ik, en sloom. Niet aan toegeven, dacht ik nog, maar ik deed het toch. Nooit meer zal ik hoofdpijn krijgen van de wereld die kleur krijgt, en nooit meer zal er aan me worden gevraagd of ik genoeg heb geslapen, flitste door me heen. Ik zakte weg in een slaap waaruit ik niet meer zou ontwaken.

How to create this icon:

1.Open your picture, resize and crop it.
colouring
2. Go to layer - new adjustment layer - selective coloring
(Don't go to image - adjustments, cos you can't duplicate that layer later on)

My setting are:

reds
cyan -100
magenta + 52
yellows + 100

yellows
cyan -100
magenta +100
yellow +100

(You can skip this if you like)
cyans
cyan +2
magenta +1
yellow -3

Don't skip this!
neutrals
cyans +100
yellows -36

Click okay, duplicate it and set it to softlight.

3. Create a new layer, fill it with #e1edfa and set it to colour burn 100%
4. Create a new layer, fill it with #fae1e1 and set it to colour burn 100%

5. Press ctrl u, and up the saturation to your liking.

6. And last but not least, sharpen it!
Design

Duplicate it four times, move it around until you're satisfied.
Pick a basic brush size 60 px, set your flow at 15%
Pick a light yellow or white, and brush it around where you want it to glow.
Paste this (I don't know who made it, sorry, please tell me!), move it around, duplicate it if you want and set it to lighten.
Pick a brush, size 50, pick a deep red and set it to screen. Duplicate if you like.
I added 'going solo' size 9, the font is Pea Sara.
