  <description>Since I&apos;m so into Sweeney Todd lately, I decided to use my Decoz Numerology program&apos;s Name Advisor to see what Sweeney Todd would be.  Just for fun, I also did his other name Benjamin Barker and the man who played him in the movie Johnny Depp.  And just for comparison, and to show I still have a thing for the guy, I also did Viggo Mortensen.  I thought the results were really interesting.   <title>Mrs Lovett&apos;s World Famous Meat Pies ;-)</title>

  <description>I have become infected with a musical, once only a Broadway play but recently served to the masses thanks to Tim Burton and company.  I must say I&apos;ll never look at priests the same way again.  ;-)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you haven&apos;t guessed what I&apos;m raving about, it&apos;s a little Steven Sondheim piece played by Johnny Depp (and a simply amazing cast) called Sweeney Todd, a macabre musical that makes one hungry for more. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After my first viewing, I&apos;ve had to watch it two more times and get the script and lyrics online so I can sing along next time.  It seems somewhat wrong to like a story with such an awful subject so much but Sondheim&apos;s music gets inside you and doesn&apos;t let go until you find yourself singing, &quot;These are my friends, see how they glisten,&quot; or &quot;I&apos;ll steal you Johanna,&quot; or even &quot;Try the priest,&quot; at odd moments of the day and to the confusion of others around you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Needless to say, this isn&apos;t a movie I&apos;m going to be watching with my daughter and her cousin.  No, I&apos;ll be watching this demented picture alone and hoping it does drive me as mad as Todd.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If any of you haven&apos;t seen this film yet, go out and rent it or better yet buy it because you&apos;re going to want your own copy once you see it.  ;-)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;PS - Funny that Anthony Head, a wonderful singer and good actor made famous by the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, was in this but didn&apos;t even get to sing.  And he wasn&apos;t even in the credits!  He is the man that asks about Todd&apos;s shop after his competition with Pirelli.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;PPS - Now I want to get a t-shirt that says &quot;Mrs Lovett&apos;s World Famous Meat Pies&quot; on the front and &quot;Try the priest&quot; on the back!</description>

  <title>A Child&apos;s Wonder And An Adult&apos;s Sex Life</title>

How wonderful to find that feeling captured for me so beautifully in a poem!  As I sit here writing this, I&apos;m thinking of my own daughter, who is five, and the wonders that life still hold for her.  She is starting Kindergarten tomorrow and she is so very excited to be starting &quot;all day school&quot; as she calls it, having gone to pre-school last year at the same school.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am finding it hard though to &quot;give her up&quot; to school.  I&apos;m giving the time I usually have with her during the day up to the school system, so they can teach her.  And so that she can be around other kids her age because she is such a social child and really thrives on such social interaction.  I wish I could be both teacher and playmate for my daughter and so home school her.  I know though that I don&apos;t have the energy or inclination to be everything for my daughter.  And so I must sacrifice some time to the school system to allow them to supply my daughter with the things I cannot give her by myself.  But that jealous side of me still wants to keep her home.  Five seems awfully young to be going to &quot;all day school.&quot;  I&apos;m so glad that I&apos;m working this week, to help keep my mind and body occupied while my daughter is at her first days of school!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Viggo also posted two poems by Robert Creeley.  (Lemons) Pear Appears is just a bit weird and I&apos;m not completely sure I understand it.  I do understand The Way though and I have loved that poem for a while now.  I&apos;m so delighted to see Viggo posted it again.  He obviously likes that poem a lot too since I know he posted it at least once before.  Where is such a man to feel that way for me?  Will I end up an &quot;old maid&quot; forever hoping the &quot;right man&quot; will come along?  Well, according to the times when such a term as &quot;old maid&quot; was in fashion, I definitely would qualify as one since I&apos;ll be 35 in six months.  Today I would just be called a &quot;single unwed mother.&quot;  Either way, it amounts to the same thing - I&apos;m guy-less and have no prospects of having a guy in my life because I&apos;m a single mom and a terribly picky woman.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can&apos;t even refuse sex in order to protest war because I&apos;m not having any sex!  I&apos;ve taken a vow of chastity and I&apos;m not even part of any monastic order!  Maybe I should form a cult called Church of the Green Fairy or just Green Church - that celebrates all green and growing things.  That way, I wouldn&apos;t have to feel so bad about not getting any because I could claim it&apos;s part of my religious vows, lol.  Okay, maybe not.  Perhaps I just need to have some good sex with a hot guy...</description>

  <title>Random thoughts during the Democratic Convention</title>

  <description>While celebrities like Viggo attend the Starz Green Room and politicians give speeches at the Democratic Convention, the rest of the world marches on.  Us normal American folk prepare our children for another (or a first) year of school.  The world spins on its axis, the people continue, individually and en masse, to spin the webs of their lives, and the universe continues to expand.  Whatever happens with these American elections, the rest of existence will continue mostly the same as before.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While Viggo posts more political and environment news and enigmatic poetry, I think about the shortness of our lives compared to the vastness of the life of our universe.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On a totally (but not really) unrelated note, I want to post this song I heard earlier that really struck a cord with me.  (Puns definitely intended.)   <title>Overuse of the word &quot;woo&quot;</title>

  <description>I&apos;ve been reading a self-proclaimed skeptic&apos;s blog over the last two days to understand the other side of the equation when it comes to what people think about paranormal and spiritual things that have no proof.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What I&apos;ve noticed is that such skeptics demand proof before they&apos;ll believe what they can not observe with their senses or with empirical evidence to back up (again proof) people&apos;s claims in the &quot;otherworldly.&quot;  That&apos;s okay, I too want evidence before I blindly believe something.  I would call myself though a hopeful skeptic.  I don&apos;t believe everything but I hope some things are true.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The only problem I had with these &quot;critical thinkers&quot; was the overuse (I might even call it abuse) of the word &quot;woo.&quot;  What does the word &quot;woo&quot; mean anyway?  I looked at several dictionaries and aside from an etymology dictionary, most dictionaries agreed that &quot;woo&quot; meant, &quot;1. To seek the affection of with intent to romance. 2. To seek to achieve; try to gain.; To tempt or invite  3. To entreat, solicit, or importune.&quot;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Those people using the word do not mean that when they use the word &quot;woo&quot; though.  No, they&apos;ve come up with a whole new meaning of the word.  Perhaps they are taking their meaning from that same etymology dictionary, which states that woo in those terms means &quot;of uncertain origin and with no known cognates; perhaps related to woh, wog- &quot;bent, inclined,&quot; as with affection.&quot;  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Okay, if you use it that way, to mean &quot;of uncertain origin and with no know cognates&quot; then I suppose you could call anything &quot;of uncertain origin&quot; woo.  But these skeptics expand on this meaning, and add that woo means anything that is not rational or scientific.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That basically means that most beliefs are indeed &quot;woo.&quot;  No wonder skeptics that depend on the scientific method to discover meaning in their life use the word &quot;woo&quot; so very much.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I do find it seriously funny though that they are using a word that means to seduce to mean irrational thought.  If you mean one thing, then find an appropriate word for it.  Don&apos;t make up a new word to try to sound cool or more intelligent.  There are lots of good words that already mean what people today are trying to make the word &quot;woo&quot; now mean.  I&apos;ll stick with the original meaning thank you.  And I love wooing too, no matter how you use the word!  ;-)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here are a few words from a thesaurus that work much better than the word &quot;woo&quot; - absurd, addlepated, alogical, asinine, crazy, demented, fanatical, fatuous, foolish, illogical, imbecilic, insane, mad, mindless, pathological, preposterous, psychotic, ridiculous, senseless, stupid, surreal, transcendental, unbounded, unfounded, unreasonable, unstable, unwise.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Really those words more than accurately describe what skeptics think of &quot;woo bleevers&quot; (yes I spelled that wrong, the skeptics started it!  Don&apos;t get me started on a rant about that word ;-), so why not use those words?  They are already in common use in the English language and you don&apos;t have to define them to make others understand your meaning.  No, I&apos;m sure skeptics will continue to abuse the word &quot;woo&quot; to mean irrational and non-scientific because they like their new word so much.  Never mind that they are still making up a new word to make themselves feel superior. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The way they use the word &quot;woo&quot; is rather insulting to those that believe in all that &quot;woo,&quot; isn&apos;t it?  I&apos;m sure that is the true intention of people using the word.  If you start off an argument by making your opponent sound like an idiot by calling all they are writing about &quot;woo&quot; in the first place, then you don&apos;t have to try very hard to prove your are right.  You&apos;ve already ridiculed the other person into submission with the simple word.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It reminds me of using the word &quot;fag&quot; to mean homosexual.  &quot;Fag&quot; or &quot;fagot&quot; used to mean a type of cigarette or a burning stick but today that meaning has been changed into an insult against those that prefer their own sex to that of the opposite sex.  It is only used against other people today in a derogatory way.  In  the same way, the use of the word &quot;woo&quot; to mean irrational, non-scientific beliefs is used to insult the believer (not bleever, which is also not in any real dictionary) from the very start.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To you of skeptical mind who are able to form a rational, scientific, real argument, without using such ridiculous methods of attack, perhaps you will be able to make some headway to sway others to your own viewpoint.  If you go to such lengths as using &quot;word sabotage,&quot; you are just alienating those you would desire to help change.  Their minds are already made up before they got to you, so alienating them by calling their beliefs &quot;woo&quot; will only serve to make them fight against you with more passion.  Try to sway others to your viewpoint with actual scientific proof yourselves instead of playing word games.  Otherwise it&apos;s reasonable to assume nothing will change.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, I&apos;m going, to try and woo someone or is that what I just did?</description>

  <title>Happy 4th of July - Happy American Independence Day!</title>

  <description>Today is a day that we American&apos;s celebrate our Independence Day and more than any other day, I&apos;m reminded of how much of what we cherish as Americans has been taken away in the last decade or less.  It&apos;s amazing to me that so much damage could be done by the Federal government in so few years.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I just don&apos;t see how another President will not abuse the new powers that position has been granted recently any more than the current one is doing.  I thought Senator Hillary Clinton, our former First Lady as President Bill Clinton&apos;s wife, would be able to fix things but she was pushed out of the picture by the Senator Barrack Hussein Obama-loving Democrats.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My favorite celebrity, Viggo Mortensen wrote on his own personal soapbox, Perceval Press, today telling the Spanish-speaking people of the USA to not trust McCain, who I guess is doing things to try and appeal to that portion of our population right now.  The thing is, I don&apos;t think Obama is any better than McCain really.  I think Obama is a real &quot;wolf in sheep&apos;s clothing,&quot; if there ever was one.  He shows one face but I feel there is much more to him than he is presenting to the world, and we have seen way too many hints of that to deny, no matter how much back-tracking he does to try and hide it.  McCain is also no good as his years as a politician have shown us.  I&apos;m left without a person I want to vote for and see as President for the first time since I could vote.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But despite all this, I know I will enjoy this 4th of July with my family just as I have done on previous years.  I did enjoy watching the Mt Rushmore fireworks last night.  Now, those were some Presidents you could feel proud of and be happy to vote for.  When will see another man like Abraham Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt run for office?  When will we see men with that type of strength of character as President again?</description>

You know what they ought to do with churches? Tax them. If holy people are so interested in politics, government, and public policy, let them pay the price of admission like everybody else.   <title>His poems make me melt - my response</title>

  <description>Thanks to the nature of the internet, I found a post online that has a translation of VIggo Mortensen&apos;s poem Un Beso De Esos, which previously I had only read a rough translation. The original poem has been posted at Viggo&apos;s own site, www.percevalpress.com.  After reading this translations, I was inspired to write down this poem in response.  It&apos;s not as good (or as long) as his but after reading that poem, I had to write something myself.   <title>Hillary Comes To The Hills</title>

  <description>I&apos;m going to see Hillary Clinton speak in Rapid City, SD tomorrow!  I&apos;m pretty excited.  Yes, I&apos;m voting for Hillary and I think everyone else should to, even the Republicans come this November.  I voted for her husband twice and have been happy with those decision.  Excluding problems in their personal life, I thought the Clintons did a lot of good for this country last time, and I&apos;ve love to see them back in action again in the White House, this time with Hillary officially wearing the pants!  I want to see a woman as President of the United States and I think Hillary would make a great first woman President.  And just think, we get to call Bill the First Man.  ;-)  That&apos;s just too funny!  I did get to see and hear former President Bill Clinton speak just a few weeks ago, so this is great to get the opportunity to hear our future President Clinton speak too!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can&apos;t really think of Obama as President.  The idea turns my stomach. There are just too many reasons to question his leadership abilities and his moral compass.  I have no problem with his ethnicity, since I think it would be equally great to see a black man in the White House as President, and maybe even someday a black woman as President!  I just don&apos;t see Barrack Obama as that man.  And I hope I&apos;m right!  Hillary has won in the most important states and is leading in the popular vote by about 150K. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If Obama wins by all the super delegates voting him in and ignoring (once again) the popular vote, then I will know that elections are not a democratic or even republican style government anymore but instead a government where the elections are paid for by the highest bidder.  And if that&apos;s true, then perhaps we should reintegrate with England, since a President voted in by a relative few is no better than a King or Queen and is not what this Democratic Republic is supposed to be all about! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If Obama wins all the delegates and &quot;super&quot; delegates but not the popular vote (the votes of all the rest of us Americans!), to quote a Pirates of the Caribbean line, &quot;I&apos;m afraid currency is the currency of the realm,&quot; could be said for our electoral process no matter what the mass populace does to make their voices heard!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If Hilary Clinton wins enough of all the delegates, along with the popular votes, then perhaps my faith in America might just be restored.  That faith has been running pretty low for the last eight years...</description>

  <title>Happy Easter!  Happy Renewal of Spring!</title>

  <description>Happy Easter!  Happy Rebirth and Renewal of Spring!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On this Easter morning I like to remind people that Easter really has nothing to do with the death and rebirth of any human but instead the rebirth of the Mother Earth, as Springtime starts again in the great cycle of life.  It&apos;s no mistake that the Christian Easter holiday falls around the same time as the pagan celebration of the Spring Equinox. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And while we are all busy gathering eggs this morning, let us remember that this is a rebirth and renewal of the great Goddess Earth as she sheds her snowy mantle in exchange for the green buds of Spring.  I noticed on Perceval Press, Viggo made a mention of &quot;God, Goddess, or Holy&quot; in his own post about the separation of the individual from the experience of that which is divine, reminding us all that we are all indeed connected.  I would add that we must remember our own connection to this fine planet we walk upon.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Although, I don&apos;t really believe that &quot;God or Goddess&quot; is really knowable in any real personal human sense, expect perhaps in a cosmic connection like the feeling of Reiki or Universal energy flowing through one, I do believe that we are all connected to the greater Spirit and that we are all, in a sense, God or Goddess his or herself, just as the dust of stars flow through our veins.  So, remember that we are all connected, yes, as we all celebrate the beginning of yet another Spring!</description>

  <title>The Delegate Issue</title>

  <description>In the 1970&apos;s and 1980&apos;s the political party machine replaced &quot;party bosses&quot; with delegates and &quot;super delegates.&quot;  But in doing so, did they just change names?  It seems to me that so-called &quot;super delegates&quot; are indeed party bosses, with the power to decide which candidate for president will win.  So, how have these super delegates fixed things for political parties?  It seems the whole &quot;delegate&quot; system is out-dated and wrong and should be oblished.  Why should I vote in a primary election if my vote doesn&apos;t really count because a delegate that I never voted for will decide for me who my party will support for President of the United States?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What&apos;s wrong with the popular vote deciding who a candidate for President should be?  Why are we called a democratic Republic if a popular vote for the Presidential candidate and also for the President him or herself isn&apos;t by all the people of the country (who vote, that is)?  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I propose that we stop using delegates (in both Republican and Democrat parties!) and let the popular vote decide.  I also propose we get rid of the electoral college and also let the popular vote decide who becomes the next President of the United States.  I wish that I really lived in a democracy instead in this farce that stands for one called the United States of America.  I doubt highly that the founding fathers intended for the President of the United States to be elected in this way.  I also doubt they ever intended that the President have so much power in this country but that is another argument.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I may rant about this again very soon!</description>

  <title>Sexual Predators on Dateline and throughout the World</title>

  <description>I&apos;ve been watching &quot;To Catch a Predator&quot; on Dateline MSNBC lately and I was so disturbed by how many men took the bate and showed up expecting to have sex with a minor that I had to comment on the website.  After I posted my comment, I started reading other people&apos;s comments to see what they thought.  I was doubly shocked to find out that not once did anyone mention the lack of morals these men display and the lack of moral education obviously being exposed along with these stings.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why is this such a problem today?  Why are there so many men willing and desiring to have sex with young, inexperienced teenage girls today?  Why were these men (and women too, I&apos;m sure) not taught that it is wrong to think and do such things?  Is moral education so lacking in American society today?  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, since I don&apos;t know when it will actually be posted (the site is moderated), here is what I posted on the Dateline MSNBC website:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I&apos;m so shocked that there are so many morally bankrupt people in America today that would consider having sex with a minor.  And most shocking of all is that these men don&apos;t seem to see what they are doing as wrong.  They only seem apologetic once they are caught, which is more an attempt at saving themselves than a real apology.  It makes me wonder if morals are even taught throughout American families anymore.  I know of a few families that do teach right from wrong, but beyond my own limited experience, I don&apos;t know.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I wonder if a nationwide moratorium needs to be held in order to teach people that it is wrong to have sex with young teenage girls and boys!  I&apos;m really upset that such a thing is needed in this day and age.  If parents in America would just teach morals to their children before they are adults that would consider such sexually wrong actions, instead of leaving such teaching to schools and churches, perhaps our society wouldn&apos;t be in such dire straights today!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I wish I could more directly take action to see that morality (ie: wrong vs right thought and action) was taught on a national and community level instead of just ranting here on MSNBC.  I honestly don&apos;t know what I as an individual can do beyond my own little sphere.  Of course, I will do my utmost to teach my child and other children I encounter that it is wrong to have sex with adults (or with anyone until they are an adult themselves!) but what can be done to teach the adults that don&apos;t know any better now!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Like I said at the beginning of this post, I am just horribly shocked to find out how morally bankrupt people in this country have become!  I&apos;m so very glad Dateline is doing these stings to get such wrongly sexual deviants out of the populace, even if it is for a short while.  Maybe a few of these men and women will learn from their wrong-doings and change their ways.  I doubt it, but I can hope.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tell me your thoughts.  Do you agree with me?  Disagree?  I&apos;m leaving this a public post so even non-friends can read it (but of course, they&apos;ll have to friend me to respond) because this is a topic that really needs a lot of public debate!  I wonder how widespread this problem is throughout the rest of the world?</description>

Gene Renuart, commander of NORAD and U.S. Northern Command, or USNORTHCOM, and by Canadian Air Force Lt. Gen. Dumais seconded Renuart&apos;s sentiments, stating, &quot;The signing of this plan is an important symbol of the already strong working relationship between Canada Command and U.S. Northern Command.&quot;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&quot;Our commands were created by our respective governments to respond to the defense and security challenges of the twenty-first century,&quot; he stressed, &quot;and we both realize that these and other challenges are best met through cooperation between friends.&quot;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The statement on the USNORTHCOM website emphasized the plan recognizes the role of each nation&apos;s lead federal agency for emergency preparedness, which in the United States is the Department of Homeland Security and in Canada is Public Safety Canada.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The statement then noted the newly signed plan was designed to facilitate the military-to-military support of civil authorities once government authorities have agreed on an appropriate response.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As WND has previously reported, U.S. Northern Command was established on Oct. 1, 2002, as a military command tasked with anticipating and conducting homeland defense and civil support operations where U.S. armed forces are used in domestic emergencies.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Similarly, Canada Command was established on Feb. 1, 2006, to focus on domestic operations and offer a single point of contact for all domestic and continental defense and securities partners.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Nov. 2007, WND published a six-part exclusive series, detailing WND&apos;s on-site presence during the NORAD-USNORTHCOM Vigilant Shield 2008, an exercise which involved Canada Command as a participant.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In an exclusive interview with WND during Vigilant Shield 2008, Gen.   <title>Extra, Extra...</title>

  <description>Hello all.  After long last (after the death and resurrection of a computer) I am back online.  It&apos;s actually been a couple of weeks but I had nothing really interesting to report so I declined to update my LJ till now.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But now that I have worked as an extra in the upcoming film National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets, I feel it is worth telling the rest of the world about.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yesterday, May 1, 2007, I spent a long night up at Mt Rushmore with the cast and crew of NT2 playing a face in the crowd.  Our call time was 5pm and we didn&apos;t get done shooting till about 5:30am.  I only stood around till about Midnight, then for over five hours it was, &quot;walk here, stand there, etc.&quot;  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, with any luck, you&apos;ll catch the back of my head on a scene in NT2 when it comes out this December.  And you might even hear me say, &quot;Oooooh.&quot;  I wonder if that counts as a speaking part and thus SAG credit?  LOL.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyway, I had a great time and wish I had more days of work on the film.  But alas, the movie people went back to LA this morning after being here for just over a week.  They filmed several scenes at Mt Rushmore and also did a few scenes at a beautiful nearby lake called Sylvan Lake.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That&apos;s all for now!</description>
