BSG - 3.09 (10) - The Passage

ZOMG it was so good! I love Kat!

After last week's poor excuse for fanfiction I was really worried about the direction of BSG. But this was a huge improvement IMHO.

On Galactica....

At first, I wasn't a Kat fan - the silly stim incident felt contrived to me. But I warmed up to her when she became a foil to Starbuck. She got sharp. And she had the guts to call Kara out on her BS. There was something I just came to love about how she wore her heart on her sleeve and spoke her mind. She was real.

And I had no clue she was gonna die tonight.

Forget that her badge-swapping was a foolish move that ended up risking herself and her peers needlessly....it was still a great arc. At first I didn't get why she did it, but I've concluded that it was something Kat felt she had to prove to herself - that she was truly dedicated to her life and her duty on Galactica. There was something beautiful when her look of horror at seeing herself in the  mirror - lips cracked and hair falling out  - turned to steely dedication. She KNEW she was going to come back in worse shape (if at all) but she did it anyway.

And while Kara and Lee might drunkenly philosophize over how they'll never make it to a new home because of their dangerous profession (ok, I admit - I liked that scene in 2.15), this Kat actually showed us what their sacrifice was. And that gets points from me.

The Starbuck stuff was good too: I think Kara's always ragged on Kat because she sees some of herself in Kat. The good similarities make her jealous, and the bad make her resent herself. So she lashes out at Kat. Kudos to Katee for a great performance. Scratch that. Two performances: when she ragged on Kat in the hallway and later when she visited her in sick bay.

On Disco!Basestar...

Oh, but I still hate D'anna and her issues. At least now it's leading somewhere and her silly obsession with downloading is yielding tangible plot information. Otherwise I could care less.

I think Baltar's 'I could be a Cylon' argument to D'anna was 2/3 BS and 1/3 genuine fear (as always I suppose). Gods, but apparently there's no good hair care access on Disco!Basestar: he still looks awful. And his times on the Basestar continue to bore the heck out of me. Not to mention the lighting continues to pain my eyes. Please get him off of there.

BOOO Courtney, we are not in agreement here! Ugh I didn't like this weeks episode. BORING!!! And Cat was kinda stupid- it wasn't a neccessary sacrifice and that made it silly to me. I mean, someone else could have done the job (I think??) and they might have succeeded as well. Also, the explanation of the actual mission needed work (kinda like the past Adama story needed more explanation) Maybe they don't need more explanation, maybe they are just badly put together plotlines, what are these silly writers thinking!!

hahaha, and you also stink for not going to macbeth with me (sad face). I am at Rao's, wish you were here!

However, I do agree with you about D'anna.
