*as good moods go, this one is even better than most ridiculously good moods, even when compared to most of Xathanael's ridiculously good moods; as a result of this, he cannot stay still for longer than a few minutes -- luckily, this would happen to be one of those interludes, and so he's sprawled on his back on the floor in some fairly accessible room somewhere, still grinning broadly with his head pillowed on his arms, looking a little mussed and exhausted (it's from the airguitaring and general rocking out like a complete idiot, actually, don't blame Brynne this time)*

*there's a stack of CDs, tapes, and jewel cases next to him, all practically covered in Sharpie scribbles, and the smallish orange cat curled up on his stomach should probably be noticed*

Left somewhere where Brynne will find it is a small, CD-shaped package marked "BRYNNE" in black Sharpie on the wrapping paper -- rightly so, because, once opened, one will find a CD of the mass-produced variety, its jewel case also marked with the words "HAPPY BIRTHDAY."

Taped to the case is an index card. One side reads as follows, in handwriting which the writer has obviously taken great pains to clean up to the point of legibility:

Xathanael P. Hades, not quite a destroyer of worlds but something of a destroyer of sanity, may currently be found flopped, upside-down, on one of the many conveniently-placed couches around. In an attempt at getting used to the female body (or perhaps she's just enjoying this more than she should), she (yes, she -- she's still female, and clearly (see above parentheses) enjoying it in a mildly horrified sort of way) is wearing a skirt, black and pleated, over red tights -- her shirt advertises a concert with the name of the band and the venues carefully blocked out by strips of duct tape. Her hair is pulled into a messy (isn't her hair always messy?) bun.

She finds her attention held by whatever's coming out of the oversized headphones she's wearing (observe the toe of her scuffed sneakers tapping against the arm of the couch), but anyone who passes by should feel entirely free to bother her -- that she's approaching boredom ought to be obvious from her expression.
