How I Got My 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive For $10.00 [May. 12th, 2009|02:20 am]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[mood |Reading this LJ takes me back]

Photobucket

So, it was the day after Mother’s Day (today… the day of my writing this…) and we (my mom, dad, and I) were out shopping for a bike for my mom…

We began our trip at BJs, no bike, and they were out of 16BG drives.
Next, Target: some nice bikes, and amazing, expensive USB drives (you know, the ones with the digital storage read-out [$70.00, standard non-wholesaler price).
Sears: no bikes, more $70.00 drives.
Wal Mart had, as well, no nice bikes, but a 16GB PNY drive for 39.99.
Unfortunately, it was swivel-y (no cap) – not my preference.
Next up, K-Mart, no bikes, no 16GB drives.

We stopped off at Pet Smart to get some crickets for Vincent, went home (dropped my parents off, got the credit card) and went out on a last ditch effort to Staples, $3.00 off coupon in hand.

Inside, they had a butt ugly 16 GB drive for 39.99. It looked like shit, and I would’ve preferred the swivel PNY over it. There was, though the perfect 16GB PNY USB 2.0 drive (with cap and all!), but for $59.99.
On a whim, I decided to see if I could price match this capped PNY for the swivel at Wal Mart. There was a line at the only register, and the old man had me wait for another associate to price match.
Soon, a lady came out and processed my order. After a moment on the computer, she turned to the man and said, “I’m marking this down to 12.84.” – I couldn’t believe it. It had to be a code that meant $39.99, right? No.
For a moment there, I was debating my choice of the capped version, but at this price… !?!?!?!?!
The old feller takes my 3 bucks off coupon and rings me in for around $10.00 for my 16GB USB thumb drive. A young black guy behind him starts saying, “No way. Really? Can I get one?” He knew it was too good to be true, an amazing price for this drive would be $35.99 at best. I was afraid he was going to get me blown in. I checked out quick and flew out of their like a bat out of hell, massive smile on my face.

Truly tremendous.

I named it ‘CODY.’ All of my drives are named for The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou characters. ‘KINGSLEY,’ ‘KLAUS,’ ‘THE ZISSOU.’

I just bought a 16GB PNY USB 2.0 drive for $10. Thank you lady at Staples for incorrectly price-matching my drive. You are beautiful.

I'm sitting here at Sips, waiting for Kay's shift to be over, and there are two women, sitting across from each other, talking about how they raise their children. They're sickening.

Chores, oh so many chores. "My kids fight over who gets to clean the bathtub. I'm like, kids, we have two bathrooms you each can clean one."

Charming.

Cutting down on television, passwords, and more chores. "We have a password on the computer, so they have to ask us to go on, but the Nintendo [Wii] has no password, so..."

Good job raising the future date rapists, child porn addicts, meth users, and submissive wives of the future!

[music |Working on my 'Motherfucking Gangster Shit' Mix]

Some Disturbing news today (at least to me...):

http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/ap/20080529/121208388000.html

"Wife of Bill Murray files for divorce
Thursday May 29 10:58 AM ET

The wife of entertainer Bill Murray has filed for divorce after nearly 11 years of marriage, alleging he abused her and is addicted to marijuana and alcohol.

Jennifer Butler Murray filed divorce papers May 12 in Charleston County. She owns a home on Sullivans Island, S.C., where she lives with the couple's four children.

The complaint was first reported by The Post and Courier of Charleston. It also alleges frequent abandonment by the former "Saturday Night Live" star.

Bill Murray's attorney, John McDougall, wouldn't comment on the allegations, but said the entertainer "is deeply saddened by the breakup of his marriage."

"He and his wife made loving parents and they are committed to the best interests of their children," McDougall said.

Jennifer Murray's attorney, Robert Rosen, said he had no comment.

The couple signed a prenuptial agreement, which was filed as an exhibit with the divorce papers, before they married in 1997. As part of the agreement, both waived their right to alimony or support if the marriage broke up. However, Murray agreed to pay $7 million to his ex-wife within 60 days of a final divorce decree.

The complaint, which doesn't specify instances of Murray's alleged marijuana or alcohol use, alleges he would often leave without telling his wife and says he "travels overseas where he engages in public and private altercations and sexual liaisons."

It also alleges Murray physically abused his wife and last November "hit her in the face and then told her she was `lucky he didn't kill her.'"

The documents obtained by The Post and Courier were sealed by the court last week.

Murray, the star of movies such as "Ghostbusters," "Caddyshack" and "Groundhog Day," is a co-owner of the Charleston RiverDogs minor league baseball team.

The 57-year-old actor earned an Oscar nomination for his role in "Lost in Translation.""

It's like Don Johnston and Herman Blume put together... Except it's just Bill.

At least they put a good picture with the article.

It freaks me out to think that, one day, when I may be working in Film, Bill may not...

In other news, after five years I was, yesterday, able to beat the 'Espresso-2-Go' mission in GTA 3. After which, I vowed to 100% the game by June 12th, when I may get a PS3. I beat many more missions and played for hours until, today, when my game froze while saving. The file is no longer present. Fuck it. I'm done with PS2...

2(+?) hour season finale of LOST tonight. 1 answer and 15 more questions. Woo!

GHOSTS I-IV [Mar. 4th, 2008|02:18 pm]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[mood |NIN!]
[music |Nine Inch Nails - 8 Ghosts I]

Photobucket

Holy Shit!!

Okay, so, I know I'm a bit behind on this (about 24 hours), but it has recently come to my attention that Nine Inch Nails has just released a new, full, double-album of instrumentals.

!!!

So goes the story: In mid-to-late February (the 18th), Trent Reznor posted to the Nine Inch Nails blog that a new album was coming, with more details to be released later.

And then, no news. Well, I guess no news until yesterday, when a massive site overhaul brought a brand new album.

Ghosts I-IV. Four mini album suites, across 2 CDs, almost 2 hours of music.

In a lavish multitude of formats. Seriously... It's crazy:

[OKAY: Right here I was going to post the specs of all 5 of the possible album options (I'm in the middle of the new Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations: Hawaii), but the GHOSTS site is down. Too much traffic.]

TRENT:

"03 march 2008:

The new Nine Inch Nails record is available RIGHT NOW! (kind of)

YES, WE FUCKED UP!
We thought we bought enough beer but too many of you showed up for the party.
We are fixing the Ghosts site right now, I am told it will be back up 100% in a few hours.
In the meantime, you can buy the whole new record at Amazon if you are in the US, or you can get Ghosts I at The Pirate Bay if you know about torrents, or RIGHT HERE directly.

We are sorry for the trouble (but you know it's worth it!)

posted by trent reznor at 6:02 pm pst, from hong kong.

THE SITE:

"Unfortunately, the Ghosts I-IV site is down for the next few hours for maintenance.

We quietly released this album last night without any warning, and without any press. Because we know how devoted our fans are, we planned for an overwhelming response, and expected heavy traffic. To our surprise, the traffic was more than three times what we anticipated, and has only been getting heavier throughout the day. The response has been absolutely phenomenal, and we couldn't be happier, but our servers have taken a beating, causing numerous problems with the download site. Our developers, who have been working non-stop to combat the surge of traffic, feel that taking the site down for a few hours to fix some crucial issues is the best way to get things running smoothly again. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."

Well I guess I was trying to say that I really, REALLY want that 75 dollar version. Fuck the DVD. FUCK the Blu-Ray... I want the coffee table book.

OKAY -- Site's up again. Specs:

"Ghosts I - Contains the first nine tracks, is available for free online from either NIN's site or officially from various torrent trackers, including The Pirate Bay[4]. Contains a 40 page PDF booklet.

Digital Release - The entire album in DRM-free formats, including high bitrate MP3, Flac Lossless and Apple Lossless, can be downloaded for USD$5. Contains the 40 page PDF booklet as well as a digital package of wallpapers, website banners and icons.

Two-Disc Release - Contains two CDs and a sixteen-page booklet for USD$10. Set to ship on April 8, 2008. Includes a web key for an immediate download of the album (see Digital Release above.)

Deluxe Edition - A deluxe edition includes 2 discs, 1 data DVD containing multitrack files for use with audio editing software, a 48-page hardback book with photographs, and a Blu-ray disc with Ghosts I-IV in high-definition 96 kHz 24-bit stereo and accompanying slideshow for USD$75. Set to ship on May 1, 2008. Pre-orders available at ghosts.nin.com and ainr.com. Also includes a web key for an immediate download of the album (see Digital Release above.)

Ultra-Deluxe Limited Edition - Includes all features in the deluxe release (including the free download) as well as 4LP vinyl, and two exclusive limited edition Giclée prints for USD$300. Limited to 2,500 pieces, numbered and signed by Trent Reznor. This edition sold out of pre-orders out within hours of its release.[3][5]"

Right now, the Ultra-Deluxe Limited Edition is already gone. That's $750,000.00 right there, in one day. Yeah, they're doing alright.

Here are the in-depth specs of the Deluxe Edition I want:

Photobucket

Anyways, as for the tracks on Ghosts I, tracks 1, 4, 8, and 9 are my favorites, though I think track 5 fits its visual daydream best.

Oh, also, not only did I see Paige twice at gay OutFlakes to talk about the new album, I talked to this kid Stephen in my theatre class about it. It went as follows;

A: Are you a Nine Inch Nails fan?
S: Yeah, a huge on.
A: Do you have the new album?
S: No, I'm still on WITH_TEETH

FAG!!! You're not a huge fan! I am! FAGGGGG!!!!!

Well, anyways, I'm very excited about the new album and am excited to finally figure out which way I'll purchase it.

NEW NIN ALBUM!

It was 58 when I was driving, and 68 by the time I got out.

Rest In Peace Heath Ledger.

What a surprise...

You never hear anything really bad about him... How. Weird.

I like heath Ledger. I'm not a huge fan, but I definitely think he is a great actor. It's not, like, post-death fandom, like, I've always thought he was cool.

What a wildly quick report. Death at 3:30, I know about it (first from Darcy in NYC, whom I did not believe at first) now at 5:22. It's on CNN.

This is going to drastically change the marketing for TDK. I know they were just expanding the online marketing and such after Cloverfield...

This is one of the first big poshumous releases in a long time.

I consider this sad news. Drugs or not, I mean c'mon. He was cool, he's dead now, and it was probably drugs. It's a Mitch Hedberg all over again, which sucks.

Well, Heath Ledger, Rest In Peace. I was a fan.

I just thought I'd post this sad and interesting moment in film, when it happened, as we were hearing it happen.

RIP.

Cloverfield / 1-18-08 Tomorrow!! [Jan. 17th, 2008|01:33 am]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[mood |Uh-oh... Excited!]

Photobucket

OKAY, first, I'm going to say one thing: Now, I know I'm not the BIGGEST Cloverfield fan in the world or anything, but, just know that I have been contunuously all over this movie since the beginning, the Transformers trailer. I was even doing all of the Ethan Hass Was Right unrelated shit.

I even have a lJ post to not only prove it, but, from then on, to stake that THIS movie was MY BITCH.

Alright, now that that is over, I'll mention that Kayla has also been following, though not as closely (I read www.projectcloverfield.com [my preference], www.1-18-08news.com [I fucking hate this site and the asshole that runs it], www.cloverfieldnews.com [second best], and www.cloverfieldclues.com). Andrew Coleman as well has been digging a bit into the internet marketing for this film.

SO, tomorrow night, at midnight (making it officially 1-18-08), Kayla, Myself, and Andrew are going to see Cloverfield at Tinsel Town. HELL FUCKING YES. (If we don't get in, it will mean that showing up at 10:00 didn't get us in early enough for tickets, and A-Money and I will see it the next day [Kayla will be gone on a retreat Fri-Sun].)

Months and months of waiting, and lifelessly hanging on the slightest of hints.

Now, this whole entry could be bunk soon, but I thought I might as well slip in some pre-film guesses:

1) We're going to see the monster very little if at all. Between buildings, etc. I saw a 2 minute clip of people trying to get to Beth's apartment and it was scary and intense, but not so much because a monster was around, which I think will be the case for much of the film.

2) Is Slusho transforming individual people into monster beyond just the main big one. This has been a theory since the beginning and the exploding girl behind the curtain and the fact that they are able to be chased by something (smaller) within a subway supports this theory.

3) I think the monster has tentacles. The picture of the boat getting attacked looks like it has unblurred pointy/tentacly shadows on it.

4) POSSIBLE HUGE THEORY: The Monster is/never was real. It was all just a mass Seabed Nectar/Slusho hallucination. Interesting idea, but would make an M. Night Shamalyan-esque disappointing twist.

5) With that, I have a curious idea that to enjoy the movie, you need not to know anything from the online marketing, this just enhances the story. So, maybe, later, online, we'll see that it all was just a mass hallucination (this would have to mean that it was TIDO Wave that sunk the oil tanker). Interesting to see the reactions of those who were in and were not in on the online marketing.

6) Multiple cameras? This could just be a stupid idea, but I know the trailer has a shot of people in a helicopter, and a shot of a helicopter taking off. If it's the same copter, there must be more than one camera. Other than that, there are two helicopter escapes involved.

7) Beginning: It should just have the "Multiple Sightings of Case Codename Cloverfield" at the beginning, then go right into the party, no credits.

8) The end will have credits, and will have something hidden/secret after. As for the ending of the movie, either it will be a quick death shot ending like the boa clip from the oil tanker capsizing, or it will be a happy moment with a death shot, or, as suggested in a recent trailer, they'll blow up Manhattan.

9) PODS. Yup, I think pods of some sort are involved/shot out. When the thing (boat) blows up in the distance in the trailer, it seems like pods, oval-shaped pods, not debris, fly into the air, and rocket down towards the skyscraper. As well, what shoots up from the oil tanker was partly girder and debris, but also looks like pods. Kayla feels this entire theory of mine is bunk horse shit. Who knows.

10) Rating and Length. Only PG-13? WTF!? This means all of the violence is either going to be monster related, or behind curtains a la the trailer. ONLY 84 MINUTES -- Okay, this is kind of cool in that the shrt length of it seems more like it is its own sort of contained moment (DV tapes only hold around 1 hour to 1.5 hours, but given that this was shot using HD cameras, they may have used memory sticks if this is all supposed to be 1 camera). BUT, c'mon, months and months of hype for 84 minutes... They better fucking rule...

11) MEH. I'm still hyped, and so is Kayla, more now than ever (the oil rig collapse videos were fucking amazing as hell), but many are a little underwhelmed by the recent surge/overflow of OUR Cloverfield everywhere. A random guy in imdb gave the movie a 6/10. It doesn't mean anything, but it has me scared. -- I think I'll love it though, I LOVE both the clips I've seen thus far. Cool as fuck, man.

12) The title. Hmm. I don't know how I fell about 'Cloverfield'. I mean, firstly, I thought it was just a codename, secondly, I got SO used to '1-18-08', and thirdly, I think Matt Reeves himself even said that it basically meant nothing... Maybe they're just fucking with us... Once again and as always, we'll see...

Well, All In All, I am SO hela excited for this movie. This whole thing's been a real trip. I love this internet/ARG marketing (I just caught myself up on Lost Season 4's Find 815 only minutes ago) and however good or bad this movie is... C'mon, it's just a movie! I'll probably be pissed if it doesn't meet my expectations. That is until I realize, 'Hey, it was just a movie. I got months of free entertainment out of it and, in the end, it was all fun. Right onnnnn.'

So, let's cross our fingers, hope for the best, and enjoy the ride. -- I'm confident that this movie is going to blow me away.

Freaks and Geeks [Dec. 26th, 2007|08:21 pm]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[mood |Hmm...]

Photobucket

Wow.

I just finished the eighteenth, and final, episode of Freaks and Geeks. Man, it's weird. It's like losing a friend or something. It's such a good show, but I watched it all quick and now it's gone. It's like that time I saw the last episode of Kids In The Hall on Comedy Central -- It was so sad! I almost cried!

OK, Here's my Freaks and Geeks story.

I remember that Josh's friend Eric loves that show, like, swears by it as being the best, funniest show to ever grace the television.

Anyways, I sort of wrote the show off until very recently when I watched Knocked Up with the Director/Actors commentary on. Basically, they kept referencing the show and how all of its principal actors were from Freaks and Geeks (and Undeclared). Now, I LOVE Knocked Up (WAY better than Superbad) so I thought, 'hey, I might as well try and download the show.'

I started my download on the 16th of December, it finished some days later, I delayed watching it because I figured I'd watch it with Kayla, and then when she seemed officially disinterested, I watched my first episode one night after a phone call with her.

Right away I knew I was hooked. For some reason, there's a scene very early on in the show where Lindsay first approaches the 'freaks' and right away I was struck with how much I already cared about the characters.

Since then, I've been watching numerous episodes a night after calls with Kayla and all the time during the day. I even watched a bunch of episodes on the way to, from, and during Christmas with my dad's side of the family.

Eighteen 45-minute episodes, and I watched them in about four days. Today, I finished up watching episodes 16, 17, and 18. -- I was so excited I was even jabbering on to Kayla and her camera about it today at breakfast.

I love that show, man, I really do.

Now, I don't think it's the best show on television, and I'm clearly not a REAL fan as I don't have the actual DVDs, but I love that show!

I particualrly loved that every character had at least one of THEIR episodes. I liked the Seth Rogen ones particularly (probably because of a knocked up bias), but the more emotional ones with Bill were by far the season's best.

Anyways, the last episode came and went too quickly. I don't know how I feel about it. I don't want to give anything (everything) away, but, EVERYONE CHANGES! And, I know that there's something to that, but... I'm just not sure how I feel about it.

Right now, it's like watching Garden State or Lost In Translation for the first time: I stuck in a sort of mood, a feeling, but I'm not sure what I'm going to get out of it until I think for a while.

Man, what a great show. I almost wish I'd been watching when it was aired, but maybe it wouldn't have hit me as well then.

Eighteen episodes. It's over now.

I miss Bill.

P.S.: This is from an episode where James Franco smiles at the camera... You can see every tooth in his mouth! I noticed that his mouth was like this afterwards during the rest of the season, but this takes the cake as the most amazing and bizarre picture of a toothy smile. I love James Franco's teeth in this picture. I love this picture. I want it on a t-shirt.

[music |White Zombie - Memphis]

HALLELUJAH AND HOLY FUCK: I AM GOING TO SEE ROB ZOMBIE ON DECEMBER 21ST.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

HOLY SHIT: Kayla and I are going. And by this I mean that we even have our tickets.

HOLY FUCK: Dream. Come. True.

After Wednesday's downer, I have been blessed with far greater news...

Yes, that's right, on the 21st of December, 2007, I will be seeing ROB ZOMBIE live in concert.

What's better? Not only is he headlining, not only is John 5 playing guitar, but the show is at fucking WATER STREET MUSIC HALL.

Yeah, that's right, Rob is playing Water Street, and I have no fucking idea why.

THE DOWNSIDE: With the incredibly small size of the venue, there ought to be no pyrotechnics and very little extra visual show.

THE OVERWHELMIN UPSIDE: It's fucking WATER STREET! I could touch the band if I fucking leaned forward far enough! PLUS, it's relatively likely the devoted handful of us at the show could meet him. Let us pray.

OKAY, here's the story. Early on in September, Rob and Ozzy announced a tour and, as usual, it was coming absofuckinglutely nowhere near me (Rob came to town only once that I could've gone, to Darien Lake with Ozzfest, and I was at Babcock Hovey). So, I figured I was as usual out of luck.

BUT, yesterday, someone at school told Kayla that Rob was coming to town, and that she thought they said he was playing Water Street. I called 'bulshit' because Rob doesn't belong in that shithole... And, to my overbearingly pleasant surprise, HE FUCKING IS.

EVEN BETTER, the tickets were supposed to be available the next day. -- GUESS WHO HAS FRESH BIRTHDAY MONEY. ME, MOTHERFUCKER!!

So, today at the DS walk, Kay and I buttered up her parents to let Kayla go with Josh M and I. Finally, she was in.

BUT WAIT -- then her brother had to pull out. DAMN, it was over for her, I thought (I was going regardless)... But, suddenly, out of the blue, after previously giving the 'no', her dad called and said... YES.

We brought Kayla to work and I immediately bought tickets, first day, six hours after they went on sale... for fucking ROB ZOMBIE AT WATER STREET MUSIC HALL.

I am beyond words excited.

HO-LY SHIT.

I already re-formatted my aim profile with the date. Meet him or not, it will be fantastic.

So, now the preparations must begin. -- Assuming I get to meet, get signatures from, and get photographed with the band... WHAT DO I WEAR!?

BUT seriously... ROB ZOMBIE is the closest thing I have to and idol or hero in the artistic world (he directs, produces, writes, sings, draws, etc.), so, metting him would just be... like... Fucking meeting one of your heroes.

Here's to hoping.

ROB ZOMBIE. 12.21.07.

ALEC LAMBERT: On Speaking At Graduation [Aug. 12th, 2007|11:03 pm]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[mood |Glorious.]
[music |Ennio Morricone - The Ecstasy of Gold]

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

So there I was, June 22nd, the day of my graduation, nervous as ever.

I wasn't nervous so much because I was about to end a chapter of my life and enter into a weird, new one, sure that was a factor, but, I was nervous because I was my class of 2007's Student Selected Speaker. The solitary sole responsible for relating and retelling our collective experiences as high schoolers.

Yeah, I was nervous.

I didn't eat all day, and my nervousness was completely stopping me from being hungry.

It was almost time. I re-read my script. I looked over my re-edited video (Platt vetoed my original 7+ minute cut of the Banana Peel story because of it's incriminating content and forced me to re-edit. I did with a 'Grindhouse'-esque 'SCENE MISSING' edit and it worked better.). And I got dressed for the big day. The big speech.

I knew I was ready, and I knew I was nervous as hell.

When I arrived at school, I barely said goodbye to my parents, and barely said hello to my friends. Again, I reviewed my speech. So nervous.

I peed, I got in line, the next thing I knew, here we were, we were going.

I was part of the Salutatorian line, I sat up on stage.

I was one of the last speakers, and I was so nervous that my water bottle was gone just before I even got up to speak.

Mike introduced me fantastically, I can't remember it word for word right now, but I'm thankful that I have it on tape. It was perfect. The hook was something along the lines of... "Small children fear him, here's Alec Lambert." Perfect.

Smiling as I went up, I look at my speech and began uttering the first words. That's it, I was doing it. After a few paragraphs, it kicked in, the normal me, the me that was all cool up there. It was great, I actually loved it!

Sure I was still a little nervous, but I was doing it, I was living my secret dream of having all that power and that grande audience for my speech. I had it, I was doing it, it was great.

I gave the AV guy my cue to drop the screen. The screen dropped perfectly.

I introduced my video. The video played perfectly.

They laughed. They loved it.

I came back, I got us all taught some sign language, even did some funny adlibbing with the oblivious interpreters.

And just like that, I closed it. I closed it strong. Perfect.

I sat down as pleased as ever. And what happened next was the best part of the night, and one of the greatest feelings I've ever had.

As I sat down I looked back at my class and saw them rise in unison.

It was a standing ovation. I got a standing ovation.

I can even vividly remember from those few hot seconds on stage seeing Andrew standing, nodding.

At the time I was feeling sort of shy and bashful on stage, but as they sat down, I remembered thinking, that was probably one of the greatest things that will ever happen to me, and I'll never forget it.

And I was right.

My only regret is that it was not captured on my or my aunt's cameras, but may exist on the Greece Central copy, I guess I'll have to check.

I got my diploma and all that with really no worry, after my speech, everything went from feeling like it took hours while I waited to speak, to seeming like it took seconds.

Finally, I stood up and declared my Odyssey Academy Senior Class of 2007, GRADUATED.

We pulled our tassels accordingly on my motion, and that was that.

After the rambunctious picture, we filed out into the halls. I took countless pictures with the family that was there, all very proud of me, which was nice.

I handed out some special Graduation Music Mix CDs I made for my friends. I never saw Erika, so I gave her hers at Meg's party the following weekend. I took tons more pictures with friends and, just like that, the hurrah was over.

While I was a little bummed I missed Erika, I couldn't wait to get home and get my sweaty clothes off (After all, I wore dress pants, a shirt, tie, and suspenders under my gown.) Kayla's parents came and saw me speak, but left early, so she was free to come one over afterwards.

We all rejoiced, that is myself, Kayla, my mom and dad, with some Ice-cream and White Chocolate Macadamia cookie cake (It was amazing and lasted me a week or two of good breakfasts). I got some dress clothes and my fantastic Lomography Fisheye Camera.

We brought Kayla home and the hectic day came to and end as my head touched the pillow.

And just like that, it was over. One of THE GREATEST days of my life.

That speech. Pure Glory. I remember it fondly. Like someting scored by Ennio Morricone.

It was perfect. Perfectly Alec. And I could never ask for anything more.

You can read a text copy of it HERE if you'd like. )

I was origianally waiting to type this in when I had all of the videos online, but that ended up having me not post this for almost two months. So, in this burst of journaling, I've decided to finally present to you one of the greatest days of my life.

I haven't been writing in this or my Composition Notebook journal recently because, simply, I haven't had the usual pains and angst flowing to fuel my journals. Put simply, I'm very happy. And is surely one of those reasons.

Now it's time to back up my entries, it's memories like this that I never want to forget.

That standing ovation... I'll never, ever forget it.

-I'm now off to call Kayla and watch the meteor shower outside (hopefully) around 2 AM. Adios.

EDIT: I didn't want to bury this very important entry, so adding this EDIT seemed like the lesser of two evils. After watching Snoop kill it on the Flav roast, I went, alone, outside to my backyard to call Kayla at her cottage to watch the meteor shower together. Just before, I'd told darcy about it around midnight. In turn, she called Andrew and he picked her up to watch it together. They saw a bunch too. Kay and I went out around 2:30 AM and I'm back in here at 3:15. In 45 minutes Kayla managed to see upward of 20 meteors, and I saw lucky number 7. The fourth one we saw together, and the third one was a gigantic, magnificent Armageddon worthy comet. It was so big and fiery that you could imagine the crackling, flaming rip of a sound it made as it passed by. The meteors just fly in, and fly out of the sky. Quick as lightning. Quick as meteors. I watched, at first, away from the back of my house on a deck chair, staring straight up. But ended the watching staring straight up and towards the back of my house from the yard. I saw the biggest third meteor here on the lower left. There I was, standing barefoot in the damp grass, with my flannel on. Like the Lord of the Flies. I loved it. It was a great and fun way to end our nights. And now it's time for me to take these bare, wet feet to bed.

The One-Second Time Machine, The Loop: My Theories of the World [Aug. 12th, 2007|10:39 pm]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[mood |Theorizing.]
[music |None.]

As I've recently had a strong burst of drive to post to this lJ, I've decided to finally include some theories I explicated in my mind a few weeks ago, but never posted.

Now, these are not actually what I believe, but I thought I'd just sort of claim them and put them out there.

It was while I was watching The Science Of Sleep, and saw Stephan's One-Second Time machine that I began to wonder. In the film, he builds a machine that, when a button is pushed, everything, but the button pusher goes back in time 1 second. The same can be done forwards in time, with the button pusher each time being unaffected. That is, except for one scene, where Stephan pushes the button accidentally, and is moved back to where he was.

He does not, though press the button once again.

What if the machine was made so that the button pusher WAS effected. Effecively, the world would be on a one-second loop forever. No one would ever know!

And herein lie some of my theories. What if someone did make a time machine, and the world was caught in a loop. The Loop. But not just for 1 second. Maybe, say, 1000 years. A guy presses the button, goes back in time. It's 100 years early, and let's say he doesn't or can't go forward. He'd die, and if we're not going by the butterfly effect, in around 1000 years, the guys would push the button again and return. Effectively looping the same world for 1000 years. Now, I can see holes in this too. Why doesn't the world continue on without him? In this theory, there's one strand of time. Or, if we feel the butterfly effect is... in effect, maybe the same 1000 years loops over and over, but differently each time.

Regardless, our world could be on a loop, endlessly repeating. Maybe I've written this journal entry 5000 times, maybe I'll never write it again. Maybe we'll never live to notice or be effected by the loop. Or, maybe it loops back just after I finish these posts and go upstairs to pee. Who knows.

Also, I've thought many, many times over the years about one's ability to stop time.

If you stop time, can you move? If everything is stopped, do the particles in the air stop? Would they be hard enough for you to not move through? Could you even move!? You could be stuck, aware, for your whole life with time frozen. Assuming you can move, does everything feel as soft and normal as usual, or does everything become hard and rigid like concrete? Could you move someone? If someone was frozen, and you walked up to then and waved your hand in front of their open eyed, would they remember it? Could you hold on to someone and take them with you?

And here's my favorite one. What if, there are people all over this world, or even just one, that are stopping time. Imagine if you will: Someone just stopped time. For two days. It just took me two days to write that sentence because someone stopped time and I was just frozen while I wrote this. You are too.

Suppose this world is frozen for years. You can look at our human existence and see that over time, there were just long, empty gaps where everyone but 1 person was frozen.

What if.

Well, there you have it. Some spare theories. I particularly like the one about the world being on an unconscious loop. Maybe you will to.

Some Blink 182 Reminiscences [Aug. 12th, 2007|10:23 pm]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[mood |Reminiscent.]
[music |Blink 182 - Another Girl, Another Planet]

So, here I am, wrapping up a lazy Sunday. Kayla left to her cottage today for a few days. So, with no plans, my day's consisted of looking online for non-existent video of Man .vs. Wild and Meet The Barkers, cleaning up movies, putting away laundry, and cleaning the mess I made at the workbench. That, and downloading the discographies of The White Stripes, and Blink-182. I was playing GTA3 (the oldschool begins there) while listening to Blink-182's Greatest hits CD, when I was hit with a moment of nostalgia and reminiscence as "I Miss You" came on.

As I listened to the lyrics, I remembered walking, in 9th grade, up to the third floor, where my Ms. Witt homeroom and Putnam's room were. As I neared the top of the stairs, headphones blaring, I saw Putnam behind me. Now, either I sang him a few bars of "I Miss You" or he asked me what I was listening to, but, either way, his response was: "Ahh, there's nothing like ruining a perfectly fine love song by talking about spiders killing and eating things." And that was all he said, and he walked on back to his room, not knowing how funny I'd ever think that was.

Now, as much as I give that guy crap about leaving our school when he was our favorite teacher, it's memories like that, that remind me how much I liked him.

That song's a sort of looking glass to that time. I loved that song. Still do. When I was looking at their discography I happened to see that the CD was from 2003. Wow, that seems like so long ago. The number does, but it feels like they just released that CD recently, not four years ago. I remember buying Shana that CD for christmas that year. That WAS a long time ago.

All this thinking made me realize that I need, once again, to back up this LiveJOURNAL. God knows how terrible it would be to lose it all.

Also, with "I Miss You", I remember watching RJ Hallman and Joe DiMartino sing that song on the bus to gym. I remember them singing, and me joining in. It was fun. And it was about from then until graduation that I remember randomly busting out into that song with Erika, Darcy, Dave, Andrew...

And finally, with that, I realized how much I need to get talking to Darcy and Erika more often.

Erika especially.

And that's that. The Greatest Hits CD rolled on. As I was now in what I consider the recent 'sadder' portion of Blink's work, as "Down" came on I stopped playing PS2 and decided I needed to uptade my livejournal tonight. Maybe even three times.

And so here I am.

Reminiscing.

'Cloverfield' -- 1-18-08 (The Newest Version of MOVIES I KNEW ABOUT BEFORE YOU!!) [Jul. 7th, 2007|11:53 pm]

OK, first off I KNOW I have a TON of serious life updating to do and such (the experiences of my Graduation Day Speech Giving were amazing and life-alteringly great, so I NEED to get them in, but not right now), but I need to do this first.

Just a QUICK update:

As the Transformers movie has premiered (which I am not HUGE into but will be seeing Monday) the world, as well as I (via the internet) has seen the trailer/teaser for the new JJ Abrams project. 1-18-08 is all we know. 'Cloverfield' being the tentative title.

I am ALL OVER THIS. It's mine. THIS is my new thing. Possibly my new ARG.

Whether it's an original story, a Rampage movie, a godzilla flick (or any of the other monsters people are calling out), Astro-Boy, a Lost tie-in [though fuckin-A my idea for a Black Smoke monster side-movie would kick FUCKIN' ASS!!], or Voltron... (I'm HOPING it's an orignal tale [Lovecraft influenced I hear???] -- Just know, KNOW, that this one is MINE.

I had it first.

Beyond that, I'm simply excited for not only a movie so visually interesting as this [filmed all in POV shots, a la Sept. 11th videos], and am excited for a film generating such viral buzz. This post is mostly about the ARG [???] though.

Today I finally consumed all of the new articles about it and finished solving through all 5 of the gates. I entered my email, and now I have to wait for the first of August for updates.

I'd post YouTube link but each one gets removed after about 6 hours.

I'm supposed to get you into it too, so, www.ethanhaaswasright.com . Go there. That's all I can say, it's the teaser mini site. Join.

THE BEGINNING IS THE END.

(P.S.: ACROSS THE UNIVERSE is mine too. I'm just calling it. I should have a long time ago, (Kayla and I have been into it since we saw the trailer) but, since it's set for a September 28th release, I might as well claim it as mine.)

(P.P.S.: This post was linked to in a myspace bulletin with the subject '1-18-08' and the subject of "Mine. Called. Claimed. Dated. -ALEC.")

On Graduation [Jun. 11th, 2007|07:32 pm]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[music |Ennio Morricone - The Ecstasy of Gold]

I'm tired.

And my life is over.

--Not really, and not metaphorically, and not symbollically, not really at all. -- But much of my life, much of what makes Alec Lambert Alec Lambert is going to be over and gone forever by 2:20 tomorrow afternoon.

Wow, LiveJOURNAL, it's been a long, long, wholly un-updated time. But, you know how it is, as I always say (or is that always intend to write?), this journal is fueled mostly by sadness. So, in happy times when things are great and I have a wonderful girl in my life, I don't need to nitpick and write every little detail in here.

But, as such, in times like THIS, when I have only one day left of high school, I've really just got to get some journaling out of me.

Man, these last few... Well, all this year, I've had this bizarre cloud of instant sadness that comes out whenever I conceive the fact that this is my Senior year and that my High School experience will soon be over. -- Yes, whenever I think of that, well, it brings me down.

And especially in these last few weeks, that feeling has been far more omni-present. That's a really heavy thought.

Now, whenever I thihk of it, it gives me that sad, eyes well up, I'm leaving my friends feeling, but, lately, that's been happening like crazy.

What's really been doing it? The yearbook.

Not necessarily what's inside its pages, but what I write to my friends and they write to me.

There were three big people I NEEDED to really give some solid yearbook time to to complete my life. Erika. Darcy. Andrew.

And I got them all!

And therein lies some emotional roughness. Erika signed mine first. And it's a great entry! Very, very personal about how I've actually touched and changed her and her life and her way of thinking. It just made me feel like a really great friend and a good person. Most of all, it just made me really, really happy and grateful to be friends with her. Really. Sincerely.

Wow, this is hard to write.

A day or so after, I signed a double-header of both Erika and Darcy's yearbooks. Now, while I'm not going to get into specifics, both came to very nice fruition. See, I'd had conversations with both of the girls earlier in the year about how I don't know if I have that 'friend love' for anyone in our school. You know, that REAL 'friend love.' And I realized at the end of those entries that I do. And that those girls are them.

Writing both of those entries was hard, the sort of eyes-well-up at moments types of reflections. But what really, really got me, was after Darcy read hers.

Now, I know it's just in Darcy's general nature to be very cry-y, but what happened was genuinely one of my favorite friends moments ever.

I'd written it and given it back, hoping she would read it, but she said she didn't have time. And that was that I figured. So, I went back to goofing around with my laptop on the other side of the room. And all of a sudden, I see out of the corner of my eye that Darcy is walking towards me, sobbing, tears streaming down her face. And we hugged. Just a really great moment.

I followed her over after and both she and Erika were now crying. They thought I was making fun of their cry by smiling as I walked over, but I wasn't. I was just happy. And almost about to cry myself. Two of my best friends. I made sure I called them to clear this whole matter up later.

Darcy and I hugged more at gym that day, and I let her write in my yearbook the next day in her math class.

Sarah gave it to me in D-Block after and told me that Darcy had been crying when she wrote it. I liked that. -- And her entry was just as good.

Very personal, equally as funny as Erika's [those girls are some funny girls], and once again just, very touching. I really felt great and appreciated as a friend. As a best friend.

Ah, and now on to Andrew. We're guys, so, you know, it's weirder to be all mushy, but we did it anyways. In our own Alec/Andrew ways. We're pretty emotional guys, so it was nice to just write about how great a friendship we have. It's a good feeling. Haha, and he used the BEST word to describe my cheese sandwiches, "irrational." Best friends.

And now, on to today, a day that brought many sharp feelings of graduation remorse [maybe not "remorse"] to the forefront of my skull.

I was greeted by my school with a freshly painted "Welcome To Hell" on the side entrance of the school. Awesome. I immediately knew I wanted a picture with it. -- Hmm, this stuff isn't exactly what I wanted to comment on, so I'll blast through it. -- I went to spanish, played some games, got a letter, CDs, and stick balls from Flores, played more games, set up GH in Fetz's room, went out and took pics of the graffiti ["Welcome To Hell," "Fuck This Shit Suck My Dick," "Pussy Eat Me," and "Cunt"], came back in, grabbed Pat, got pics of us with the tags, got a pic of Courtney with one of them, went to English, took a final vocab BS quiz, drew for the remaining half-hour, had SOME of my lunch [Kayla left after B Block for her class picnic], went to C-Block with Fetz, played some wicked GHII, using my disc and my controller to be cool even though fetz brought controllers and a system, ate Boneless Buffalo Wings from Applebees, left school [Jeez, welcome to run-on city! Sorry, but I need to vent these things out as well!], went to the post office, went to the pet store, came home, printed some grad invites, grabbed my stuff and went back to school...

For the FINAL MOVIE CLUB.

Original plans between Williams and I were for Pan's Labyrinth to be our final film, but, about two weeks before [was it last week? yes.] Erika called and suggested Stand By Me. I knew right away that SHE had made the better choice. So, we penciled it in for today after school. Williams said she had a meeting till 3:30, so we delayed the movie until then.

There are a lot of moviegoers when it comes to Movie Club, but you rarely ever really know who's coming until they get there. And, after school, it was me, Erika, James, Julian, my box of Crunch'n'Munch, Erika's 3 buckets of popcorn, and her two bags of twizzlers. AKA no one. But it was cool! Erika and I just hung with my PS2 and GHII all hooked up to the projector like in Fetz's, rocking out, BFF style. A VERY good time.

We popped popcorn at around 3:15 [at this point James and Julian were LONG gone], and came back up to grab our couch seats. And almost immediately as we sat down, an incredible influx of people arrived just at the nick of 3:30.

It was fantastic.

Just Erika and Alec turned into Ms. Williams, Alec, Erika, Darcy, Nick, Liz, Kristina, Amber, Mike, and Janelle -- with Dave, Tommy and Chelsea floating around the library.

With the exception of missing some of our key [all of our] 10th graders [that is Kay, Jaime, and Mac], that was about the perfect MC group.

Haha, and Erika and I were imitating Darcy and how she thought she couldn't come to the final MC because she was "too overwhelmed with out senior prank." Pssh, haha.

Everyone brought food! It was glorious! Popcorn, twizzlers, salt and vinegar chips, doritos, sour cream and onion chips, chocolate, everything!

And Stand By Me WAS A VERY GOOD CHOICE. It didn't make us cry though.

But what almost did was just joking around and talking with Erika and Darcy.

Those two are crazy!

At one point, Darcy and I were just having a moment, and she just let loose a single tear and I knew exactly what she was feeling. I felt it then and I feel it now.

We're graduation.

Life is going to be different.

Kayla came in after the movie and saw me being very sad and very tired. I stayed up late watching a movie last night while she finished homework. Then called her. I'm so tired that I'm at the point of the red eyes and single-eyed blinking. The point where your body can't stand to keep your eyes open all day.

And then i have to think about graduating.

Ms. Williams said she was going to miss us. And I know it's true. I'm going to miss her. And the club. Being the president of Movie Club is and was one of the most fun and fulfilling things I have ever been a part of.

Our band of movie lovers disbands for our last and final time, and we leave. All of us. Our last Movie Club. A great Movie Club.

I can only hope that it remains and keeps running. Forever.

We drove Kayla home, and I was then on my way back to the solitude of my own home.

I'd told Kayla I thought I might cry tonight. I still very well may. I haven't yet, but it's not so far off.

I told her that I figure if I do, it'll be during or after a call to Erika and Darcy as they have and all-night sleep-over fire with all the girls.

That would have been cool.

You may notice that I'm writing very little about Kayla and I in here. -- Well, that's because everything is perfect. We've just celebrated out 3-month anniversary last Saturday the 9th, and everything is great. This isn't an end for us. Not even close.

I was sad then, still am. -- But on the ride home, I had 90.5 on the radio and it went from some sappy song to "Capital G" -- no one plays "Capital G" on the radio! -- But I was grateful for it.

And all at once I thought, "Yeah, some rock music. I don't need to cry now. Right now it's time for some HARD Nine Inch Nails. Sure, maybe later I'll put on "Something I Can Never Have", a song that has brought me down before, but for now, I'm just going to stay happy, keep it up." I thought as I tried to pull in my cheeks and purse my lips and smile -- you know that action you do with your face when your trying to hold back some sadness.

At the same time, though, my mom and I started talking about the Ozugs. I miss Josh and those guys very badly. Josh has sent me emails recently and I haven't had the time to reply. We've been busy. Too busy. -- We were talking about how Mrs. O and the little guys are coming up and how I want to see them, and how I'm delaying my grad party [if all goes well] until August for Josh to attend. -- And, it was just another very sad end of the year type moment. My best friend, across the Earth. -- I really can't wait to see him again like last summer.

I came home, hid in my room, kept myself occupied with some Simpson and King of the Hill, ate Carmines [Bacon Cheeseburger and Mossarella Sticks], and then came down here, to complete what may be my final and most comprehensive High School LiveJOURNAL post ever.

I'm trying to figure out how to end the rest of my night. Firstly, I must complete my final comprehensive and reflexive English Essay. My last homework assignment ever. In reality, this will take me, effectively, all night. Because in reality I wanted to sleep before 10:00, but I'll probably pass that mark simply lJ-ing. ---- But, when i was previously delusional about finishing that early, I was really just thinking about laying down with some good Garden State on DVD or the Jack's Mannequin CD to really just round out and this long, solemn, and important night. -- Who knows what'll happen, really.

I'm tired.

And I have to get up at 4:00 tomorrow morning to be at school around 5:00 AM for setting up the senior prank and eating some cookout food. 4:00 AM. That's early. And I'm already overtired. For our prank, we're putting battery operated alarm clocks in the ceiling tiles of the Main Administrators Office. Should be sweet. Very. Plus we're having an all-day outdoor cookout, skipping classes, and may kids are coming in with pool noodles and shields for a grande 300 Spartan send-off [I've been listening to an mp3 of "The Ecstasy of Gold" after viewing some of a downloaded Ennio Morricone Arena Concerto. It gives me just he right dosages of sadness and empowerment for my current mood.]. I can blow off classes for A, C, and D block [no one gets out of Humanities], so I should be able to enjoy well the fruits of our labor. -- We'll all be wearing our senior shirts.

We're seniors.

I'm speaking at graduation and I have countless graduation parties to go to, so this is not over, but, really, tomorrow is the beginning of the end. Really, it's the end. My last day in the place I've called a temporary home for over 6 years. Goodbye Odyssey.

Is my life over? No. Hell no. And I didn't even really mean that. But, it's simply the idea itself.

After this, no one else knows me as well as my friends. No one.

I've worked hard for people to "get" me. And they do. For some kids, the ability to start over is great because no one every "got" them. But, for me, I have a big group of friends that understands who Alec Lambert is. And I understand who they are! -- I don't want to start over. Here, I'm Alec Lambert, and everyone knows it.

But, I must start over. Somewhere.

And so, this is the end of THIS life. And so soon will begin a new one.

And I'm ready for it.

The IB Trip: A Dream [May. 30th, 2007|06:45 am]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[mood |SleepyTired,]
[music |Blue Man Group - PVC IV]

OK, so, I had last night/just a little while ago a very long, bizarre (not as bizarre as last time), and memorable dream.

So that I don't forget, I'm going to chronicle it here.

First of all, it was a weird night of sleep. I was ready to fall asleep in bed early, 11:30. My bed has no sheets, just blankets. And even those blankets weren't terribly neat.

I woke up around 4:30 and for some reason my ears were itching or something, so, I went to the bathroom, used a Q-Tip, and got a cup of water. -- I rarely do this.

Anyways, I got back in to my room and I fell asleep pretty much immediately. -- And here's where the dreaming began.

It started off as I'm walking through a mall-ish area towards a large, long banquet table in a side room (I feel as if I recall walking through this mall earlier in the dream). Anyways, I sit down to eat and that's that (I think Kayla was to my left, and I recall Corey being around).

That's all I remember for that room, and soon we start walking out of the mall-ish area.

When we go outside, we're on a balcony facing out towards a big open industrial looking area. And out there are, as I recall, on the right, long iron pipes, and on the left a bunch of big square stones. Regardless, spaced out on each stone/ on the pipes are IB kids being forced to do work, facing us.

So, to please the kids out there and me, out of nowhere, I pull out a big black boombox and start playing that Kaiser Chiefs song "Ruby" loudly.

Corey is on my left, and Sarah is on my right. I recall that we're watching Darcy out there.

Chapman comes out on the balcony and tries to say something, but we can't hear because of my music. -- So, I try pausing it, but nothing happens. I try lowering the volume, but still nothing. ---- Eventually, I just pulled the cord out.

(As it turns out, "Ruby" was my alarm song and I was literally dreaming about it being on a boombox through my sleep and not waking up.)

I think this is when Chapman was like, 'OK, you can stop working now!' and they started to come in.

With my boombox unplugged I started to go through the mall too. Though now the mall was DISTINCTIVeLY an airport. -- And now I had a bookbag on.

I had some sort of trouble with my bag and I was magically late so I got on the plane last. I was worried. When I got on, much of the back was HUGE and empty, I heard an attendant say something about how the next person couldn't get on because they only had a few pilots.

Anyways, I find an open seat next to Andrew, and I ask him if Darcy is sitting next to him. He says 'no', which seems weird. I sit down and Andrew goes, 'You know what, she actually is, could you sit over there?' And he points to the northwest at a seat next to Julian. But just then, the plane starts going.

At this point Ray Diaz is talking to the flight attendant lady about how he's already sick. And I remember thinking, 'I don't feel good, but at least I won't be as sick as Ray'.

Now, the plane really starts moving, and it becomes in my mind significantly SMALLER. Like a tiny, tiny jet.

And we try to turn right but we can't because we're so small and we're trying to, like, break through a jungle. The plan falls on its side and everyone is like 'aww man!'

From here, my recollection of the plan movement is from the very front of the plane as it's breaking through trees and trying to climb up hills and stuff. At this point Doug used the perfect word to describe the plane's burrowing action (I can't think of the word now, and maybe it wasn't even real), and I remember how mad I was that Doug was the one who had to know the perfect word.

Soon, the plane breaks up through a thick layer of foliage and dirt and we break in to (firstly, I recall that we were going some place tropical -- Costa Rica I think) like... A camping ground!?

I recall it being the same setting that I had another dream where I was hunting IB kids from up and down a hill (not in the scary way, in, like, the hide and go seek way, but with nature skills). There was a street in front of the hill and a van and a car went by.

Just then the pilot turned around in the yet significantly smaller jet and opened up the clear plexiglass divider between her and the kids (Either she WAS or LOOKED LIKE Rousseau from LOST). She stood up and began to speak.

She said, 'OK, listen up we have to--'

And just then my dad knocked on my door and woke me up.

Ugg. Lame!

I hope I finish it tonight.

YEAH!!

Now, I know my lJ is mostly fueled by sad rumination [explaining my lack of lj-ing lately as I've been very happy), and I was even about to lJ again in that same vein [college story...], but I really must post a HAPPY entry. I mean...

Man, tonight was defiantly the BEST Jazz band Concert Ever. The most cool, most fun, most awesome. The most live, the most jazzy.

It just really felt like a jazz show. A rock show even!

Let's go through my day quickly, shall we?

"Kids’ matinee turns into horror show" HAHAHA!! [Apr. 10th, 2007|11:14 pm]
[Current Location |Rochester, NY]
[mood |Hilarious!]

My mom told me about this news story tonight, and I went to seek it out for real online. Unlike the last news story my mom told me (about a boy sodomizing another boy after he saw it in a prison movie he watched with his mom and dad), I was able to find this one online!

Definitly the funniest news story I've read in a LONG time.

I'm not sure whether to lJ-Cut it or just post it in... So, I'm just gonna post it right on in here! Enjoy. :]

"Kids’ matinee turns into horror show"

A Dedham amusement company is apologizing for accidentally subjecting a group of children to a violent slasher flick at a movie theater in New York.
Moviegoers were expecting to see the family-friendly film “The Last Mimzy,” the tale of a brother and sister who discover a mysterious box of toys and become endowed with superhuman powers to help preserve humanity’s future.
Instead, the crowd saw the graphic opening scene of “The Hills Have Eyes 2,” an R-rated sequel to a remake of a 1977 horror classic by Wes Craven. “The Hills Have Eyes 2,” which centers on National Guard troops who stumble on a clan of mutant cannibals, starts with a chained woman giving birth to a mutant.
“There were kids that were crying, there were people trying to cover the kids’ eyes. They were caught off guard,” said Anthony Rasco, who was in the audience when the scene was unexpectedly shown in one of the theaters at the Island 16 multiplex on Thursday. “By the time we could react and pull the kids together and figure out what was happening, we pulled them out of the theater.”
Another patron said the episode had left his 3-year-old son with lingering, and unsettling, questions.
“My wife is eight months pregnant, and he’s been asking, ’Is that what mommy’s going to have?’ ” said Frank Doll, 31, of Mastic.
Theater staffers stopped the movie, gave the patrons free ticket vouchers and started “The Last Mimzy” about a half-hour late, according to parents.
Dedham-based, National Amusements Inc., which operates the Island 16 and about 1,500 other movie screens in the United States and elsewhere, expressed “deepest apologies” in a statement Friday.
“We are working with our theater’s managers to correct this situation and ensure that it does not happen again,” said the statement from the company.

Now THAT was a fantastic film!

Wow. Words cannot really capture it...

Here's how the day went.

I got up early, around ten, and was greeted by Jack Garner's 9/10 review of GRINDHOUSE in the paper. Nice.

Then I mill around, get ready, and talk to Josh until 1:30 when Kay comes over. We watch two episodes of LOST, and then it's GRINDHOUSE time.

Josh wants to go to Culver Ridge, where it will be less packed. So, around 3:25 he's there picking us up early (which I liked, showed other people cared about being on time to this flick).

We take the drive out, get there 12 minutes early, and get in. No line. It's almost 4:00. Josh buys his ticket and gets IDed. I go up to buy my two tickets, she checks my ID... And says people under 17 can't buy two tickets... WHAT THE FUCK!?

I slipped her my Eagle Scout card to see if she'd let it slide, but when she responded with, 'is this hers?', I knew it wasn't gonna fly. I grabbed my money and my 2 cards and we bolted. Josh got a refund. -- Let the racist slurs begin! ... She was Asian.

Now, it's 5 to 4 and we drive over to Tinseltown.-- We arrive about 40 minutes early, Josh and I buy tickets, Kay comes in from the car (to be safe -- there were actually some no one under 17 signs, but were ok), and the three of us go in! There was a hilarious sign on the ticket counter window, but I'll get into that later. So, we hit up the arcade. Played some House Of The Dead II (Not 3 like in Japan...), 18 Wheeler Game, and I think that was it.

With about 20 minutes before showtime, we left the arcade and I bought a large popcorn with a large blue Icee. RIP OFF. At Tinsel Town, the Large is a bag, not a bucket, and my drink was a medium size at best. 9 bucks. Josh was like, dude, you just got anally raped. And when his Vault came up 4 bucks too, I was like, yeah, so did you.

We didn't care, though, because the film that had eluded us for over six months was finally here. It was opening night... Of GRINDHOUSE!!

We hit up the bathrooms and as we were about to enter the theatre, we were greeted again by those hilarious signs. They went something like this: The "look" of grindhouse is intended to replicate 70's Action and Horror films. Any and all scene skips, missing scenes, film burn, or scratched frames are intentional." That was pretty funny. Like, imagine the audience of people that would go back to the counter saying their print was messed up.

Anyways, we go in and get nice seats right in the middle of the theatre. There weren't many people there, and there didn't end up being many. The audience for this film is strangely niche in my eyes. Like, I anticipated it to be a huge hit, but it doesn't seem to have the same wholesale wide audience like 300, which is weird, because it should -- and then some. Like, on a 300 board on imdb I remember people made a topic about which of the two films, 300 or GRINDHOUSE, would do best in the box office, and a lot of people were saying they didn't "get" GRINDHOUSE. Hmm, weird. And too bad, really.

Soon, the lights dim and the real trailers kick in. I don't really remember any beside seeing the new trailer for Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN. High-Five!! Josh and Kay got excited too, just as I was.

Soon, those trailers end and our feature trailers begin rolling. This was it, ladies and gentlemen -- It was GRINDHOUSE time.

The 70's Prevues logo comes on with the "Old School" tune, and our first trailer kicks in. MACHETE. Hilarious! Like, a minute into the movie, you're already seeing titties! Nice! Josh High-5ed me. "This is one mexican you don't want to fuck with!" We had a good laugh.

GRINDHOUSE IN TWO DAYS!! [Apr. 2nd, 2007|11:02 pm]

[music |Rooney - Sleep Song]

So, I was originally going to post this in Sunday, just saying that it was FINALLY the week of GRINDHOUSE's release. 5 Days. And that was going to be it. But then I didn't post it.

Monday morning, I found the time to post this entry's heading with a smilie face, hoping to finish after school. 4 Days. It was then going to include the daunting insane homework of the week. But, that didn't happen either.

So, now it's Wednesday after school (early dismissal), and I'm finally getting down to it.

YES!! -- This Friday, the United States is blessed with what will be the most unique cinema experience of our generation (for now...)... GRINDHOUSE!!

I SO cannot wait. We have Friday off, and Kay and I are making a DAY of it.

Anyways, this week's homework and test load, as it's the short week before break, was insane. Completely, senioritis-inducingly insane.

It's the fucking Navy SEALS Hell Week of school.

Here we go:

Monday: Nothing, really...
Tuesday: History Vietnam Quiz, Trumpet Lesson Playing Test, Biology 70-Week Exam.
Wednesday -- Hell Day: 300 Page Book Read For English With 6 Pages Of Full Charts Due, Spanish IB Oral Exam, Jazz Band Writing Assignment 2 Due
Thursday: March Art Project Due
Friday: Sweet fucking salvation, Grindhouse is here!

It's Wednesday night now, so the bulk of Hell Week is over. As it turned out, the history quiz went smooth because Merr gave me the answers in art, I BOMBED the Bio test, and the playing Exam went very smoothly and relaxed. And that was my Tuesday.

Monday night hadn't been so bad because I did NO studying, and played SOME trumpet. Tuesday night, though, I knew would be fucking hell. -- Funny thing, I double booked myself that night.

So, Tuesday ends and Kay is gonna come over! Actually, she went with me to get my hair cut, went in to Best Buy with me to pick up 'CANNIBAL' the new Static-X CD, came over, played PS2, watched LOST, ate dinner, and went to the band meeting with us. It was fun. And she was home by 8:00... Which is when reality swiftly kicked me in the fucking teeth again and got me going on homework.

Since the second Jazz Band essay wasn't going in on third quarter, I got an extension from Staebell. But that didn't change the fact that I still had 89 pages left of the Maya Angelou book to read (I only started on Sunday, so that was pretty good...), a 6-Page packet to do, and ALL of my prepping to do for the IB Oral (you know, because I didn't spend the last 2 weeks in class working on it like every other kid).

So, I read about 40 pages until around 10:00, when I realized I needed to get FUCKING ROLLING on that big ass packet. So, I cranked that out until 12:00, when I gave up with 2 charts to go.

I called Kay on the new (so far not that impressive) cordless phone until 12:30 and went to sleep completely not done.

I woke up at 6:00 this morning, showered quicker than ever, got dressed in nothing special, and got to homework. I finished the packet by 7:00 and did basically nothing in way of prepping for my spanish, though I tried, until I left at 7:30.

This was going to be a LONG day. This was THE day. Hell.

Since Flores was gone doing our orals, we had a sub in Spanish, which gave me ALL CLASS to work on my oral -- And by class end, I had that whole motherfucking thing mapped out on an index card, with some picture showmanship as well. -- Because I'm just motherfucking good like that.

Thing is, the sub was a TOTAL BITCH. Merrick went to get something from Flores' desk, as Flores literally asks and encourages us to do, so we don't ask her for everything, and the sub BUGS OUT.

'What are you doing!?'
'Getting something from her desk.'
'No! That's a teacher's desk, you don't just go rifling through it like that, be respectful.'

So, later, Jared, Pat, and I are exchanging Zach Galifianakis jokes, and eventually we get to the 'Just give me the old sea captain' joke, and this is what I follow with:

'Haha. Just give me the rapist! Haha, I think that's the funniest one, with his beard and sweater.'
*SUB BITCH APPROACHES*
'Excuse me, please don't say that,'
'What? Rape?'
'Yes, you're using violent words, and there's nothing funny about that. Don't use those violent words.'
*SUB BITCH WALKS AWAY*
'Ok, I'll use 'molester' then.'
*SUB BITCH DIKE TURNS AROUND*
'What did you say!?'
'I said I'd use 'molester' then.'
'Excuse me!?'
*AT THIS POINT, THIS CLASS WAS ON MY SIDE FOR REASONS UNKNOWN, AND WE WERE CORNERING HER WITH SHIT ABOUT HOW IT'S OK*
'No, it's completely NOT FUNNY. You're using violent talk to describe a drink.'
*INSERT COLLECTIVE WTF FROM THE CLASS*
'A drink? What are you talking'
'You guys were talking about a beer!'
'... I said beard.'
'Oh, I must've thought you said 'beer' when you said 'beard'.

And that was that. Fucking dike bitch. Yes, I was provoking her after a while. I think I hate her. Yes. So I just put on headphones. I drew offensive shit (Static-X song titles) on my arms and knuckles to bug her, she didn't say anything, but I felt her disapproving gaze, which I liked.

After class, I was walking behind her, only me, in the hall, headphones blaring. She turned around to ask if classes were really over. When she saw it was only me, she stopped mid-sentence and turned around knowing I wouldn't give her an answer.

Then, I hit up English, started the quuote quiz (did well), left for my Oral, peed, and we very nervous.

But I fucking rocked it! Thank you Guillermo Del Toro! 60 minutes of work (more like 20... If that) totally paid off, and she gave me a Twix. Noice!

I came back to English, finished rocking out on the quote quiz, gave her my packet and participated in the talk. FULL CREDIT ON EVERYTHING. Nice!

Connecttime! We did dumb blankbook shit. -- But at one point, Erika, Sarah, and Darcy were just being hilarious, which at one point turned into Erika yelling at Sarah.

I hadn't laughed so hard since Erika was yelling "STOMP THE SHITBAG" in the cafeteria a week or two ago, and that was probably the hardest I had ever laughed.

I was crying. So funny. Darcy and I could NOT STOP. Ridiculous.

Erika yelled: 'You creamed it into my shirt!' -- About Sarah throwing a Bagel at her!

Sarah was mad/sad, but it was SO funny.

Next was math and I was restless. I mulled around doing work in class for about a half hour until we brought up the hilarious Spanish situation, and then Fetz started fucking reprimanding me and giving me one of those dumbass PC politeness talks and I was done with it. Not mad, just restless and bored. So, I left class (we do this).

I saw Kay, and then talked to LeGiere about borrowing a camera over break. Came back to class 20 minutes later, and school was FINALLY FUCKING OVER.

I saw Kay, got my stuff, and went outside to wait.

My mom apparently thought I was going to call her to pick me up, even though I clearly (in my mind) told her to just get me. So, I waited outside in the cold for 15 minutes, Static-X blaring, kicking a brick, until I finally went in to call. 10 Minutes later, she was there.

That was a fucking horrible long day that just never ever ended.

I was/am still in kind of a bad mood when I wrote that, and I think it comes through.

Now, I'm home. My mom left for the doctor's just as soon as we got in. I called Mr. Green again and left a message trying to follow up on this RIT situation.

I've been listening to "Sleep Song" by Rooney for this ENTIRE post, and all day after school, on repeat for, must be, over an hour now...

And so ends today's school. Tonight I'm writing a script, and finishing the written work for my art project.

SIDE NOTE:

I VERY rarely let people borrow my DVDs or borrow from others, but I have a ton out and in right now!

I have Crystal's A Tale Of Two Sisters (which I'm going to watch right now!) since, like, September.
Meg's LOST seasons 1 & 2.
Kay's Home Movies Season 3 and 2.

Kayla has my Viva La Bam (she just returned 3 movies).
Nick has my The Devil's Rejects.
Meg has my Scoop.
And Erika has had my Garden State for weeks! I keep forgetting! Fuck, she's going away to Mertyl tomorrow too! Dammit! She IS watching it, though, a bunch, which is really cool.

So, yeah, I need to get those back.

I don't know what I want to watch. I REALLY wanna watch The Chumscrubber, but I don't have it. So I was thinking THUMBSUCKER... Now, I might just watch Crystal's DVD to get it gone... Or nothing...

Fuck, I am done with this post.

Friday is going to be amazing. GRINDHOUSE. 3 Days before our 1-Month. Another fort.

Please, Friday... SAVE ME!

Look at me sleeping
I'm really sleeping
Look at my dreaming
I'm so happy...
