How we This journal was started back in 2004, around the middle of my college career. It’s original intent was as a place to keep my writing, a place to keep it separate from my original and now abandoned account acquiescent_mal. I wanted a place that I could feel safe to work on things out from under the prying eyes of friends. I didn't want to have to worry what they might think - and so this journal was born.
Then I discovered fanfiction, and started writing it myself and it found a home here as well. Originally I wrote fanfiction as a way to practice new writing techniques when I couldn't come up with plots of my own. I'm not sure whether or not my writing has improved all that much since then, but I have enjoyed being able to share my writing with the folks who stumble across my journal from time to time.
Over the past two years or so I have been growing more comfortable with who I am and the things I like, and so this has become my main journal, housing not only my fic but also my occasional ramblings. I don't worry as much as I used to and so I feel free to share more of myself here than I have in the past. | spend our days I am a college graduate, which I consider to be one of my greatest accomplishments. I am on the slow and very drawn out road of applying to graduate school at some point in my future. Literary Theory is what drives me, what keeps me up late at night; the possibilities are wonderful and endless.
I love to travel, and I have made it a personal mission to see as much of the world as possible during my life. I am the oldest child in a pretty large family, at least by today’s standards, and as such I am constantly doing my best to live up to the expectations of my mother and younger siblings.
The older I get the more self-aware I become. I am slowly breaking free of the very conservative hyper-Christian mind-set I’ve been living in for most of my life, and as such learning more about myself as a person. I have been more open to new experiences over the past year than I have during my entire life up to this point and it’s all new and exciting and I love it. | is, of course, I have been told on multiple occasions that I am the most sarcastic person that some folks have ever had the pleasure of meeting – I take it as a compliment. I value sarcasm and wit in friends and companions.
I am a reformed conservative, on my way toward a more open-minded liberal sort of view point on life. I am always changing always finding something new about myself and the things I like, and I’m open to all of it.
I love music, Dashboard Confessional and Take That are among my favorites these days. I love good books, particularly those by Haruki Murakami, and we shall be forever friends if you feel the same way.
I am always going to be a little left of center, and I’m coming to find out that I am ok with that. :D | how we As I’ve said before this journal plays host to my fanfiction. I originally started writing fanfiction in order to try out new styles of writing, since I was having trouble coming up with an original idea on my own. I’m not sure if my writing style has improved at all during the years that I’ve been writing here, but I have gotten to try out a lot of different things I might not have tried otherwise.
These days I am involved in several fandoms, most notably: Supernatural (and SPN RPS) and Harry Potter. I do dabble in the Labyrinth and Whedon-verse fandoms from time to time. I am a huge fan of slash, it is almost all I write any more, though I will occasionally throw some het in there when the mood strikes me.
