When I try to click on the donation page, it says it can't be found.

Gave what I can. :/ Wish USD were stronger.
Here's hoping for swift resolution.
That's great, and thank you :)
I gave the little bit I could, but feel it is less than a drop in the ocean. Skint, though, so have to wait and see whether I get pupils actually paying for their lessons etc.... hope it all works out ok.
Heh...Ironically, he was was looking into being one of your paying pupils. He's such a procrastinator.
Thank you so much.
So am I right in thinking that's about 30-50ish days to raise the cash?
Coz that's probably long enough for me to think about organising fundraising events...
We're negotiating with the lawyer right now to see if he's willing to take installments, but our aim is to come up with half the sum this week.
Let me know of any fundraising ideas, and I'll make sure to pimp it out.
I have 6 gowns to auction off. Would you like me to start the ebay auction for freedome site or is someone else handling that?
Wow, that's wicked, Benson...let me speak to the guy in charge of fundraising, he might have a better idea of how to proceed. I'm very new to all of this.
Hi, I made a small donation - probably doesn't seem like much but the NZ$ doesn't buy many Pounds :/
No, that's terrific and I'm really grateful :)

another drop in the ocean. Hope we make a big enough splash to get Diz back in one hop.
We're already doing great...30%! It's only been a half day of fundraising, as well.
Thank you so much!
Seriously, I can't give much, but I'm going to give what I have. When do you need this money by? I realize "tomorrow" is the best answer, but I may follow Benson's idea and sell my goods and donate what I make. A due date will help.
We're hoping to have 50% by this weekend to buy us some time. It looks like we're going to do it, as well. Thanks for raising money, and if there's anything I can do to help you let me know!
Gave what I could with my puny Israeli sheqels..
Please keep updating.. I really wish there were more I could do.
Thank you so much for that!
And I want to re-emphasize that it really makes me sick to think of this going on. I do, however, think it is really awesome that you guys are pushing the issue and generating a lot of momentum. I really hope this comes to a positive conclusion very soon.
The outrage we all feel is what's driving this campaign so hard. We're all putting that anger to good use and hopefully some good will come of it.
I would offer to sell photos for you, but I've already committed those to another organization.
I'm gonna see if I can donate some actual money. I wish I had something that'd raise big bucks.
Thanks so much for that :)
It's a small amount, but I threw in for him.
This makes me sick as well. You are both in my thoughts every day. Will be making a donation in a couple hours. Please let me know if there's anything else we can do. Reposting on all online communities that I'm in.
Hi Gret, thanks for your support through all of this.
i just realised the UAE embassy is next to my gym, i'm thinking next time i go i'll post them my sweaty soiled undercrackers in protest. OR maybe we should organise a group to go outside and rattle tins collecting donations.....
Lets hope you get all the money you need and that cat is home safe soon.
I wouldn't discourage you ;)
I've given what I can for now until I get paid. If there's anything else I can do at all just let me know
Done & done.
Damn weak dollar! Gave what I could as soon as I read this though. I'll pester those I know to do the same...cause this is really important. Him getting a lawyer is key in such a country.
It's ok, I think we're paying him in US currency, anyhow :)
Getting him a lawyer is literally the only way to bring him home an innocent man.
Gave what I could. Will also post this around my work as I have done the petition. I work for a trade union org so lots of very supportive people and we have campaigns to help people who have been wrongly jailed all the time. We work with Amnesty In'l sometimes too...I wonder if they can do anything as this is definatly a case of human rights injustice.
Best of luck and stay strong. xx
Thanks for that! Amnesty have written back to us, and they've pointed us in the right direction. They only have the resources to deal with folks who are facing life and death scenarios, and Diz isn't going to be stoned to death he's just facing an unfair detention and trial. It was good of them to help link us to other organizations, though.
Total Amount Received: 125 donations received, total = £8,738.31 (almost 35% of total required)
We still need: £16,761.69

That's really fantastic and thank you so much for going to all this effort for us.

you don't know me, but i've been reading this and it breaks my heart. I couldn't give a lot at all, but i tried to help a little. As echoed above, another drop in the bucket. Best of luck to you.
Thanks for taking the time to drop in with your support, and certainly public outrage has been the momentum behind his campaign. I really appreciate your effort.
hey dude, i tried to move somebody like newspaper here but nobody replied me yet.
I was thinking to begina boycott campaign against "Fly Emirates", what do you think about it?
Under consideration, for sure, but we're holding out to see if justice prevails. If it doesn't, no holds barred, dude.

You're doing a great job of keeping this front and centre in a lot of places. I read about Diz on Metafilter
again today thinking, "Holy crap, nothing changed yet?"
I've added you to LJ to keep abreast, I hope that's ok. Sent some cash via Paypal, too.Edited at 2008-02-18 02:35 pm (UTC)
Hey, thanks for finding me. I'll add you back when I sign in again, and thank you for your support.
What? Diz did that? :P
How very unlike him...I wonder if I was there?
I hope your friend comes home safe, and thanks for being so supportive.

Yeah, actually when I last spoke to Diz he said he's in the same cell as Grooverider. He was sentenced today, four years, and he's been in lock-up since November. I know his story was so different from our, in the sense that he did technically break the law, the sentence is so unfairly heavy handed for the crime. This guy should have to pay a fine and be deported. Ridiculous.
Just kicked my bit of PayPal chump change into the bucket just in case. I'd just buy Legos with it anyway :)
Continue to stay strong!
Legos are a noble and just cause :)
Thank you so much for that.
