Here's the last of my backlog of entries, from Halloween weekend.

Halloween weekend was a busy time. I definitely needed it to get away from everything else that was going on.

I spent Saturday, Halloween, in Ikebukuro and Harajuku with [info]meepalicious , Greta, and Nicole. We got an early start so we would have time to do everything we wanted. We didn’t have any costumes to wear for Halloween, but Leslie and I decided to dress-up anyways. Leslie wore her frilly lolita skirt and I wore my punky, visual kei-esqe dress. We also both wore heels with our outfits because we were wearing skirts/dresses. We first made our way to Ikebukuro, to go to Saiyuki Festa. Saiyuki Festa was awesome! It was mostly a giant show of Minekura’s Saiyuki illustrations (color prints, sketches, and manga pages). We wandered through the show, fangirling at all the gorgeous illustrations. (“He’s wearing the coat.”) If there’s one thing Minekura knows how to draw, it’s pretty men. I picked up a Saiyuki shirt and a copy of the newest Saiyuki artbook (vol. 6). The illustrations are so pretty! It’s got a lot of really nice Gaiden art in it. After Saiyuki Festa, we unintentionally spent about an hour getting lost in and around the Sunshine City, looking for the exit we had come in through. (Fuck Sunshine City). We eventually found it though. Then we hopped the Yamanote-sen to Harajuku. Leslie and I had decided that Harajuku, with its myriad of awesome fashion, would be a suitable Halloween substitute. We did some shopping at Bodyline and Closet Child. Leslie and I were able to convince Greta and Nicole to buy some cute clothes at Bodyline. I ended up buying a long black Algonquins vest (or maybe it’s a sleeveless jacket?) at Closet Child. It’s pretty cool looking and was relatively inexpensive, since Closet Child is a second hand store. We wandered around some more and ended up at Takuya Angel. I wish I had more money because I love Takuya Angel’s clothes, but they can be quite expensive. I did however buy an adorable purse, made out of kimono fabric there. Still haven’t been able to catch Sisen working at the store though, but I plan on going back and looking around some more before I leave. We may have looked around at some of the stores around Takeshita Dori, but my feet and Leslie’s feet were hurting quite a bit. I guess that’s the price you pay for wearing heels. We decided that we had had our fill of awesome shopping and that it was time to go home.

On Sunday, I had a field trip to the Ghibli Museum with my Anime and Manga class. I ended up grouping up with Leslie, Greta, and Lauren for a day of Miyazaki. The Ghibli Museum was so neat! I loved how you just wandered through it, finding things in no discernible order. It had a whimsical feel. There were pretty stained glass windows, featuring different Miyazaki movies throughout the place. We stopped and saw the short movie that was playing in the theatre. It was about water bugs. Only Miyazaki could make water bugs cute. Then, we went up the fun spiral staircase to the roof and took a picture with the giant statue from Laputa. At one point we went to the café and Lauren got some Ghibli brand beer. It seemed like beer was something you shouldn’t have in the Ghibli museum, but clearly it was okay because they were selling it there. We did a bit of shopping at the gift shop. I got a keychain of one of the soot fuzzies and a Howl pin. The Ghibli Museum was definitely a fun time.

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in America!

Nikko was a really nice trip. On the first day, we went to Toshogu Shrine. This is a shrine dedicated to the shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. Me and my Japanese history loving self sliently geeked out about this. The design of this shrine was quite different from all of the other shrines and temples I've seen in Japan. It was much more colorful and ornamental. Most of the time Japanese shrines and temples tend to be much more simple in their designs. Toshogu was super pretty and I really enjoyed seeing it. While we were there, we climbed the stairs to see Ieyasu's grave. We also saw the famous carvings of the Three Monkeys doing the "Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" pose and the Sleeping Cat. After Toshogu, the bus drove up some super curvy mountain roads to get to Kegon Waterfall. It was nice, but I was pretty cold. The weather in Nagano was colder then it had been in Tokyo. On the second day of the trip we went for a nice hike through the woods. It was cold outside, but I piled on a few layers so I would be warmer. The scenery was so beautiful, with all the leaves changing color and the waterfalls. We spotted an adorable kitten rolling around in the bushes at the end of our hike and attempted to play with it. Then it was lunchtime. We grilled our own pork and veggies on a stone slab. It was yummy. After lunch, it was time for wood carving. We carved pre-outlined designs into wooden plates. It was pretty difficult. My dragon design ended up looking kind of rough, but not too bad in the end. That was the last part of the trip. Then it was time for the bus ride home, which I attempted to spend sleeping.

On Monday, [info]meepalicious and I went to Shinjuku to go to the Volks store. (For those of you who are unaware, Volks is a company that makes beautiful ball-jointed dolls.) Leslie brought her new doll Camui with her. It was really nice to finally get to go to a Volks store. The dolls were lovely. I think I unintentionally fell in love with the F-16 mold. The display F-16 was so pretty! I think he's definitely going down as next on my current dolly wishlist. Leslie bought some clothes for her boys and I bought a pair of purple eyes for my dolly Brynn. After that, we shopped in the Studio Alta. I got a cool shirt that has some little chains attached to it. Leslie and I then went and had some delicious ramen for dinner.

Tuesday was our Anime and Manga class's field trip to Akihabara. It was nothing new though because I've been to Akihabara before. I did however pick up a copy of the gorgeous Pandora Hearts artbook. It's so lovely! It might be one of the prettiest artbooks I've ever bought. Definitely worth the money. Greta also had super awesome luck finding stuff she wanted, like her Neuro and Harlock figures. It was so cute.

Today, I had a fast food approximation of Thanksgiving food. There is no turkey in Japan, so we went to KFC and got fried chicken and french fries (because there were no mashed potatoes). Later in the day we got McDonald's apple pies. Nowhere near as good as Thanksgiving dinner, but it was the best we could do. Leslie and I took Kirsten to Otome Road in Ikebukuro because she had yet to go. I bought moar Gundam doujin. I should not be allowed to buy doujinshi ever again. In my defense though, I spent under 1,000 yen (around $10) on four doujin. We also tried to go get delicious pastries (aka man cake) at the Swallowtail White Rose Cafe (the one that's not the butler cafe you have to make reservations for a month in advance). Upon arriving at the cafe we discovered that the only had adorable maid girls working there, not the hot butlers that are normally found at Swallowtail. We decided to pass on the cake then because it was a bit expensive and there were no butlers to serve it. Maid girls aren't bad, but a little disappointing when you're expecting butlers in suits.

Now, I'm in Leslie's room and we're listening to Christmas music. It is officially Christmas season (even if it doesn't feel like it yet).

Just a quick entry to say that I'll be in Nikko tomorrow and Sunday. It should hopefully be a fun time!

I also wanted to let everyone know that (thanks to [info]meepalicious 's influence) I now have a Tumblr. If any of you have one, you can choose to follow me at http://rinlin.tumblr.com/. I have also started Fuck Yeah Gundam 00 on Tumblr, in order to share my extensive Gundam 00 fanart collection. XD

And now for a current entry. I fricking finally have internet in my dorm room! Thank god. It was so inconvienient without it.

This weekend was fun. On Saturday there was originally supposed to be a big fangirl trip to Tokyo, but [info]serria didn't come because it was raining and she was recovering from a cold. [info]meepalicious and I decided to go to Ikebukuro anyways though. We met up with Stephanie (from our Japanese class) there. The three of us went to Closet Child, where I picked up a copy of exist trace's new CD, Ambivalent Symphony (squee!). Then it was onto the Animate, Mandarake, and all the smaller shops in between. I picked up even more doujinshi at Mandarake. I really should stop, but I can never resist it, especially when some of them are only 210 yen each. Of course, I wound up with moar Gundam (mostly Lockon/Tieria) and I also bought a random pretty D18 Reborn doujin. I have a feeling that Stephanie wasn't all about the yaoi, but she tolerated it quite patiently, which was nice of her.

I ended up in Ikebukuro yet again on Sunday. This time I was meeting my friend Eri, and her friends Wakana and Bethany. We went to Sunshine City, the huge department store. Inside Sunshine City is a mini theme park calle Namjatown, so we decided to go there. It was pretty cool. We ate lunch in Gyoza Town, which had around a dozen different gyoza places to choose from. It was pretty yummy. The we went to Ice Cream City for dessert, which had about a dozen different kind of ice cream flavors. I ended up with delicious pudding (purin) flavored ice cream. We then walked around and played a cutesy little detective game. It was a nice time.

Of course we had to take some purikura!

It’s about time that I caught up on my backlog of LJ entries, so here's the first one. On October 21st -24th I was in Nagano. IES (my study abroad program) had a group trip there. We started our trip by getting on a bus bright and early on Wednesday morning. The ride to Nagano was a bit long but it was broken up by stops along the way.

At the first stop we went to a drum museum. While we were there we also got to take taiko drum lessons. It was pretty cool, even if I did mess up the rhythms sometimes. Our taiko sensei was cute, as well. Later in the afternoon we stopped at Matsumoto Castle. It was an old samurai castle and was really cool to see! It had a lot of super steep stairs though. We’re talking steps at a 65 degree angle. Greta, Nicole, Leslie, and I were joking around about the samurai having tests to make it through the castle in 5 minutes of less. If they didn’t make it they would be thrown down as projectile weapons, lol.

After the castle, we arrived at the ryokan we were staying at. Greta was put in charge of the key for our room. It turned out rather ironically (and awesomely) that we were in the Kotobuki room. Kotobuki is actually part of the name of one of Greta’s characters. This of course really meant that Greta was destined to be our fearless leader, and so we formed the Kotobuki-gumi. We had fun running around in the yukata and geta that the ryokan lent us. After dinner it was onsen (hot springs) time. It was a tiny bit awkward at first because you are supposed to get into onsen naked. They are divided by gender though, so it was only being naked around other girls. And it ended up being no big deal once everyone was naked because it somehow put us all on the same level (if that makes sense). The onsen were very nice and relaxing. They were quite warm though, so you could usually only stay in for a few minutes at a time.

We started the next day with making tofu. The place we went to make the tofu was freezing inside. Dear Japan, please invest in central heating. Despite not really knowing what we were doing and freezing our asses off, I thought our tofu turned out pretty good. We spent the afternoon exploring the town of Obuse. There were a lot of little shops there, and a few art museums. There was a Hokusai museum, with some of the prints he made later in his life. I really enjoyed seeing those.

On the third day we went to Zenkoji, a famous Buddhist temple. It was pretty cool. The most notable part of Zenkoji was the maze we went through. There is a short maze under the main temple that the monks used to use. It only has one path, but the maze is literally pitch black. And you’re not supposed to talk as you’re going through. (Do you hear that little old Japanese ladies? STFU.) I spent most of the time with my had on Greta’s back, to insure that I wouldn’t be walking alone, and Leslie was behind me, with her hand on my back. The maze was only about 5 minutes. It was simultaneously pretty neat and a little terrifying. After Zenkoji, we went and made our own soba noodles for lunch. They were quite delicious. For whatever reason, the place we made soba at also had a giant slide outside that we went down. We then spent the afternoon hiking. We hiked through some gorgeous scenery to get to Togakushi Shrine. The leaves on the trees were just starting to change colors. And after Tokgakushi, we went to the awesome ninja museum. There was a super cool ninja house there, with secret doors, tilted rooms, and moving staircases that we made our way through. There was also a fun area to run around in outside, with walls to climb to prove that you were ninja.

On the last day we went to the monkey onsen. These are famous onsen in Nagano that monkeys like to go in. There were a ton of monkeys there! The baby ones were so cute! You still had to be careful around the monkeys though. Leslie accidentally got a very frightening looking monkey picture, when the monkey decided it didn’t like its picture being taken, lol. After that we went to another place, where we made some pottery. We molded the pots, and they are going to bake them and send them back to us. Then it was time for the bus ride back home. They put on some movies for us to watch during the ride. The first one was Handsome Suit, a hilarious Japanese comedy about an ugly man who turns into a handsome man when he puts on a Handsome Suit. And the movie was filmed in Makuhari. Part of it was even filmed on the campus at KUIS! The second movie was Ponyo~. I love Ponyo. By the time the movies were over, we were nearly home.

Some of my favorite quotes from the weekend were:

-It’s like vertigo, except fish.

-It all makes sense once you get past the dinosaurs.

-He could take Matsumoto castle.

-They ate mostly in science.

-"Stop punching our lunch."
"I eat lunch for breakfast."

Here's a link to my Nagano photos on Flickr. (I'm too lazy to upload them through LJ.)

Things have been going better recently. As of Saturday, I moved into my new dorm. My room is nice and big. It's also nice to have more freedom. I think I'm going to enjoy living in the dorm.

Yesterday, I went with [info]meepalicious and her friend Kate to Nakano, which is apparently the new Akihabara. All the real otaku are apparently moving to Nakano. Shopping in Nakano Broadway was fun, yet bizarre. It was an odd mix of normal clothing stores and resturants, old school Japanese toys and collectibles, as well as anime stores. There had to have been more than half a dozen different Mandarake stores in this place. It was kind of crazy. You could easily lose track of time and reality in there, going around in the maze of all the different floors, as there are no windows in most of Nakano Broadway. I bought some doujinshi in one of the Mandarake stores. One awesome Reno-centric FFVII doujinshi, and four Gundam 00 doujinshi. One of the Gundam 00 doujinshi is crossed over with Kuroshitsuji, in that all the 00 characters take the place of Kuroshitsuji characters. It's pretty much everything I didn't know I was missing in my life~. We also happened to walk across the pretty awesome (and random) sight of a Jack Sparrow cosplayer and a Michael Jackson cosplayer drummming up some business for a noodle resturant. I took a picture and the Michael Jackson impersonator even said domo arigatou to me in Michael Jackson's voice, lol.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch a video of one the Saiyuki musicals with [info]meepalicious (who is so generously letting me leech off of her internet until my own is set up). I can't wait to see how awesomely cheesy this is going to be!

I am exhausted, sore, and my ears are ringing, but I'm so happy. First of all, the Nagano trip was a ton of fun. Then, I rocked the fuck out at the V-Rock Festival today. It was amazing~. I finally got to see Gazette perform, which makes my life that much more complete. I love them. <3 The other bands were pretty awesome, as well.

Now, it is time for me to go to bed. After I survive Hell Week, I'll post the details of my recent adventures.

I'm so happy for the weekend. I always feel so tired out at the end of the week. I'm guessing that has something to do with the sheer amount of time that transportation takes. That, combined with all the busy work our professors have been throwing at us, tires me out.

The next two weeks are going to be a mixture of awesome and me stressing out over school work. Our classes have really hit that point in the semester where they're starting to throw large amounts of work at us. The individual work for each class isn't that bad, but when you combine the work from all the classes it adds up. But, mixed in with all the school work will be some completely awesome times. The 21st through the 24th our study abroad program has a trip to Nagano. We're staying at a Japanese style inn (ryokan) with hot springs (onsen). I'm hoping it will be a fun and somewhat relaxing trip. The 25th is the day I get to go rock out at the V-Rock Festival! I am so super excited about this! Then I have a bunch of school stuff due during the last week of the month. That's going to suck, I'm sure. After that it's Halloween weekend! On Halloween,[info]meepalicious and I are going to go to Saiyuki Festa for Saiyuki fangirl tiemz, and then spend the rest of the day in Harajuku! I'm pretty excited about this as well. Then, on November 1st my Anime and Manga class is going on a field trip to the Ghibli Museum for some Miyazaki time. The Ghibli museum for free! My favorite price.

Today, I'm just going to relax. I might read some more of the Pandora Hearts manga. I started reading it online the other day when I was in my super boring Social Organization class. It seems like it could be somewhat promising. I'll probably try and make plans for tomorrow though because I start driving myself crazy if I spend all weekend doing nothing. It leaves me with too much time to think about things, which normally does not turn out well. Any plans that I do make will have to be relatively inexpensive ones though. I'm trying to save money for the fun stuff coming up in the next couple weeks.

I bought a ticket to the V-Rock Festival today! It's an all day long series of J-rock concerts, held in Makuhari (the town I go to school in) on the 24th and 25th. I'm going on the 25th because that's the day Gazette is playing! I finally have a chance to see them live! I'm so super excited~.

I also just learned that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. That's pretty damn awesome.

The typhoon passed by this morning, causing no damage in my area. I know some other parts of Japan were hit harder though. In my town there was just a lot of wind. There wasn't even any rain today. It was actually sunny about half the time. And there was still no class today, so I got to sit around the house being lazy. It was nice.

So, today's latest exciting news is that tomorrow's classes have been canceled because of the impending typhoon. It's scheduled to hit Tokyo tomorrow morning. I'm glad to have a day off, but am slightly worried about this whole typhoon thing.

I meant to update the other day, but I forgot. I wanted to talk about the fun stuff I did on Sunday. I spent the day with [info]meepalicious and Greta. Our first stop was the Pokemon Center in Hamamatsucho, which made my inner-child quite happy. So much adorable Pokemon stuff! I picked up a cute Jirachi plushie there. After Pokemon time, we made our way to Akihabara. In case you are not familiar with Akihabara it's pretty much known for two things: electronics, and the otaku subculture that has sprung up around the city. It was quite the interesting experience. Akihabara was quite noisy and flashy. As we were walking down the street, there were girls in maid costumes handing out flyers advertising the local maid cafes. I guess one of the reasons that I wasn't as crazy about Akihabara is that it's more male oriented. There was definitely an abundance of merchandise featuring half naked female anime characters. And in certain stores we were actually the only girls present. It kind of weirded me out. Some stores actually had certain floors marked as "ladies' floors", which were pretty much the only sections of the stores with female-oriented merchandise. The only times I actually felt really comfortable in Akihabara were on the ladies' floors and when we were in the Animate (because it was filled with people of both genders). I definitely prefer Ikebukuro (and Otome Road, which is fangirl territory) to Akihabara.

I also wanted to mention the interesting conversation I had with my host mother the other night. She said that she was jealous of me because I'm American. She said that in her next life she wants to be American or European, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She said that the Japanese are boring because they only have dark hair and dark eyes. She also said that Japan isn't that interesting because everyone in Japan is the same nationality. I thought this was an extremely interesting conversation. I know that Japan has been fascinated with the West for quite some time, but I didn't expect my host mother to admit to it so openly. The conversation gave me a lot to think about. I'm having trouble properly articulating all my thoughts on it though. ^_^; It could be because I'm tired.

I'm going to go to bed soon and hope that the weather won't be extremely horrible tomorrow. I'll keep you updated.

I can't believe that I've been in Japan for a month already. It almost doesn't feel real. I think it's because I'm always so busy. Things take a while to sink in.

This past weekend was a fun time. Greta and I went to the Tokyo Game Show on Saturday! It was so cool to see all the latest video games. It will be interesting to see which games get American releases in the future. I was especially excited to go to the Square Enix booth. Some of the big stuff Squeenix was promoting was Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and, of course, Final Fantasy XIII. I would have loved to have gotten a chance to try out both games, but they were ticketed events because they were so popular. I did get to see the newest trailers for both games though. They look like they should be pretty awesome. I am especially looking forward to FFXIII. Apparently Japan is too because there were already people cosplaying from FFXIII at the Game Show! It was so awesome to see the Japanese cosplayers~. I don't know what it is, but they always look especially amazing. I think the best cosplay I saw was of Vincent's Chaos form from Dirge of Cerberus. The wings were awesome. I was also super excited to see a lone FFXII cosplay. A girl was dressed as a really great looking Balthier. That kind of made my day. That and the Cloud Strife unisex perfume that was available at the Square Enix merchandise booth. Sadly, it was sold out by the time we got to the booth. I wonder what it smells like, lol.

Right now we are in the midst of Silver Week in Japan. This means I get five days off. やった!

Today I met up with[info]meepalicious
. We were heading to her dorm when we got pulled into a matsuri (festival). A large group of old men were carrying a small shrine down the street on their shoulders. Leslie and I intended to follow the procession to the shrine. Instead, the old men decided that we should help them carry the shrine, so they stuck us right up in front. That way everyone would be able to see the gaijin who were helping them carry the shrine. They gave us the same scarves that they were all wearing tied around their heads and off we went. Leslie and I kept looking at each other laughing, in complete disbelief of what was actually going on, lol. It was a little hard to follow along with the steps of the procession sometimes. A shrine is not an easy thing to carry. It was pretty fun though, in an 'I can't believe this is happening' sort of way. At the end of the procession they gave us bags filled with food to thank us. I'm going to be snacking on this bag of food for the next week.

Tomorrow I'm meeting up with Eri in Shinjuku! I'm excited because it's been around two years since I've last seen her.

I've had an eventful weekend! I have a bunch of pictures of eveything I've been doing, but I'm being lazy about uploading them at the moment. I shall try to upload them soon though.

On Saturday, I went with Greta and [info]meepalicious to Ikebukuro and Harajuku. [info]meepalicious and I bonded this week over our fangirlish tendencies, so we decided that we had to hit Otome Road together. And hit it we did. It took a bit of searching to find, but once we did find it we were thrilled. The two big stores we shopped at were Mandarake (home to all the doujinshi a fujoshi could want) and Animate (eight floors of anime and manga heaven). I spent more than I probably should have, but am quite pleased with the purchases I made. I won't list everything I got, but I did pick up some doujinshi (00, FMA, and FFVII) and a chocobo plushie, among other things. We then managed to find our way into the Ikebukuro Closet Child, despite the fact that the elevator tried to eat Greta. Closet Child is a store that sells used, good condition lolita and visual-kei style clothes, as well as some ball-jointed dolls. [info]meepalicious found a lovely Volks doll there, for an awesome price, that she decided to go back and purchase today~. After that, we decided to visit Harajuku. It was so cool! I ended up buying an adorable, punk-ish looking purple and black striped shirt. It has a hood with floppy bunny ears attached to it! We didn't get to spend a ton of time in Harajuku because it was later in the day by the time we got there, but I definitely want to go back. Perferably on a Sunday, when the crazy awesome outfits are out in full force.

Today was the group trip to Asakusa, with our study abroad program. We got to see the Kaminarimon Gate and Sensoji temple. I bought a yukata set there! Then we took a water taxi to get to lunch. Lunch was a delicious meal of chanko nabe. It was then time to go to the stadium to watch a sumo match. Not really my sort of thing, but it was actually pretty interesting. The whole thing is a highly ritualized event. The preparations take more time than the actual sumo matches. Some of the matches were a little boring, but some of them were pretty exciting. The best part was when wrestlers would get thrown out of the ring and almost end up in the laps of some unsuspecting audience members, lol.

And now, to top off everything, tomorrow is the Miyavi concert! I can't believe I get to see him live~.

Just dropping in to say that Japan is pretty awesome so far! I haven't really gotten the chance to do a lot of sightseeing yet, but just being here is great. After the never-ending plane ride, which was made a bit better by being able to sit next to Greta on the plane, we finally arrived in Tokyo. The better part of this past week was spent in orientation with my study abroad program. We were shown around the Makuhari area and our university, Kanda University. So mostly I've just been able to explore Makuhari so far, but a little later this week I will get to travel to other parts of the Tokyo area.

My internal clock has been thrown off this past week. As a result, I've been going to bed early, around 9 or so, and waking up at about 5 or 6 AM. I also took naps, which is something I hardly ever do. Today seems a bit better, but I'm still kind of tired.

I've discovered that being a foreigner in Japan means that many people will look at you with curiosity, especially if you are in a part of Japan where foreigners are not as common. Wednesday night we where split into groups and shown how to use the Japanese train system. We then took the train to go get dinner. We decided to eat at a little ramen shop. It was quite interesting to see the looks on people's faces when ten of us foreigners showed up at the entrance to the resturant.

My host family is very nice and friendly. There are seven people in the family; parents, grandparents, and three kids. They live in a cozy little Western style house, where I have my own room. We tend to communicate in a mixture of English and Japanese (Japanglish). I tend to talk the most with my host parents and their daughter Chihiro, who is 14. Chihiro is very cute. She seems quite curious about America and likes to ask me about it. The oldest son, Tatsuya, is 16 (the same age as my brother). I get the feeling that he might talk with me more if there wasn't a bit of a language barrier. The youngest son, Ryohei, is 12. He hasn't talked with me that much so far, but I also think that might be because of his age, in addition to the language barrier. I haven't talked to the grandparents as much becuase they somewhat keep to themselves. I also get the impression that they know very little English. They seem friendly when they do talk to me though. I think I'm going to enjoy staying with my host family for these few months.

I've only gotten lost once so far. I was able to navigate the trains alright because my host family had Tatsuya and I ride the train together on Friday, so I wouldn't get lost. (As a sidenote, I was quite amused when we ran into one of Tatsuya's friends and he started joking that Tatsuya was on a date with me. Lol.) I made it to the center for orientation alright. I got a bit lost on the way home though. Navigating the train was fine, but I forgot which way I needed to turn on the way back to the house. I had to call home and ask for help, so my host mother sent Ryohei to find me. Oops. At least I know which way I need to go now.

Yesterday, I went with my host family to the sports festival at the local jr. high. Ryohei and Chihiro were both participating in it. It was really amusing to watch! The kids were split into large teams to compete for 1st place. They had to do all sorts of interesting events that are kind of hard to explain without visuals. I took some pictures of it though and will post them later.

Tomorrow is the start of academic orientation. I get to finalize which classes I am taking. I'm ending this entry now though because it has gotten much longer than I intended. And that's not even all that I have to write about. Lol.

Omg.

I can't believe I'm leaving for Japan tomorrow~! Yes. I am so excited, you get sparkles.

Really, I'm kind of freaking out right now. I'm still super excited and nervous. I've wanted to visit Japan for so long, and I can't believe that I'm actually going there!

I need to try and get some sleep tonight because I have to leave the house at 4 AM to catch my 7 AM flight. I don't know how much sleep I'm actually going to get though. I'm too excited/nervous. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep on the plane because it's going to be one long flight.

Next update will be from Japan!

Had a good weekend! Former roomie [info]stellawind  came to visit me. We did things such as watching Advent Children for the umpteenth time. Of course, this time we had to watch the Whitney Lies subtitled version because [info]stellawind  had not seen it yet. Lol. We also spent time on Youtube watching a ton of Cinema Bizarre videos and AMVs. On Saturday we got to talk to Koji on Skype! It had been forever since we had talked with her, so that made me happy. Spending time with [info]stellawind  made me happy, as well. I missed her!

Been listening to Cinema Bizarre's new CD Toyz a whole bunch over the past few days. I am completely in love with it! I adore those boys so much. I think my favorite songs on the CD are "Toyz", "Hypnotized By Jane", "My Obsession", and "Je Ne Regrette Rien".  <3

Now, I'm just trying not to stress out too much. I have a ton of stuff to do this week, before I leave next Monday. Like decide what to pack in my luggage for 4 months in a foreign country. *sigh*
