GENERAL:
I was born in the early morning hours of October 25th, 1979 in Berkeley, California. Apparently, it was right in the middle of a thunderstorm. I wonder if that has anything to do with my appreciation for lightning.
I grew up and currently continue to live in the bay area of California. I've been to various places in Europe and all over the states. Still, the bay feels best to me.
INTERESTS:
My hobbies mainly include 3D photography, band-organs, and the occasional touch-up to my porsche 914. But since 3D photography has become a dormant hobby, due to unavailability of supplies, it will be ommitted from the bio until I can truly engage in it again.
My appreciation for band organs stems from my early childhood exposure to two authentic carousel organs, one fron North Tonawanda, NY. And the other, from Waldkirch, a small town on the outskirts of the Black Forest of Germany.
The smaller of the two organs is the North Tonawanda, Style 188. The larger of the two is something of a mystery in terms of origin. What is known is that it was converted long ago by the B.A.B. organ company the 66-key BAB perforated paper rolls.
For at least 3 years I have been trying to reverse engineer and practice on building the many styles of pipes with the intention of building my own organ.
I'm fortunate enough to have received my father's 1973 914 (2.0L) and am doing the best I can to keep it running. The fuel injection system has been replaced by good old fashioned dual weber carburators. And so, there are no longer any computers in this car. It is officially "old school."
ACADEMICS:
After having graduated from Berkeley high in 1998, I enrolled at Saint Mary's College of California with the intention of acquiring an undergraduate degree in biology to move on to medical research. I was quick to find that I did not mesh well with biology and realized I would eventually have to switch majors. Through an elective course, I fell in love with architcture and later cross-enrolled at UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design. The first class I took at Berkeley was Environemtnal Design-4, taught by Professors Donlyn Lyndon and Sam Davis, FAIA. These professors, Berkeley's finest, had me hooked on the subject from day 1.
With dilligence, I graduated from Berkeley in the spring of 2002
PROFESSIONAL:
After having acquired official standing to take the architectural licensing exams, I am now electing to depart from the field of architecture for a little while to fulfill a career in the development and manufactory of pipe-organs. Yes, while this ancient art may well seem outdated, the truth of the matter is that the genuine sound of physical organ pipes can never be substitutted by an electronic counterpart. And so, the tradition of producing these musical leviathans continues, and I am being called to the center of that production.
