| Bio: | I am 25 years old, British and female. I have been a pagan since my early teens. I dedicated myself to Wicca at the age of 19, after studying it carefully for three years. I do not consider myself to be a "fluffy bunny" pagan. I have not been formally initiated. I practice an eclectic form of Wicca, and I believe that this is just as valid as any traditional initiatory path. I do not belong to a coven. I don't know of any in my area, but that is because I have chosen not to look for them. I have no desire to practice with a group at this time. I call myself Pagan, Wiccan and Witch. My view of these labels is as follows: PAGAN: A person whose faith upholds the following three principles, as laid out by The Pagan Federation 1. Love for and Kinship with Nature. Reverence for the life force and its ever-renewing cycles of life and death. 2. The Pagan Ethic: "If it harms none, do what thou wilt" This is a positive morality expressing the belief in individual responsibility for discovering one's own true nature and developing it fully, in harmony with the outer world and community. 3. Recognition of the Divine, which transcends gender, acknowledging both the female and male aspect of Deity. Paganism encompasses Wiccans, Druids, Asatru and many many others. I think of it as an "umbrella" term. WICCAN: A person whose faith is Wicca- A nature based Pagan faith, celebrating eight Sabbats and acknowledging the cycles of both the moon and sun, acknowledging both a male and female deity. WITCH: A person who practices spellcrafts, this is often but not always done as part of a Pagan path. I will be respectful of your opinions and your beliefs, as long as you are respectful of mine. If you disagree with me, feel free to say so, but unless you have a valid and reasonable stated argument I will most likely ignore you. | |||||
