mnuh.. My laptop seems to have developed a weird fault all of a sudden. When typing in text boxes, it'll just randomly freeze and I'll have to force-restart. Pressing return in them seems to hasten it.
Initially I thought it was a bug in Firefox and/or LJ, as at first it was always replying to LJ comments that caused it to freeze - but I updated Firefox and it's still happening, and I've just discovered typing in MSN causes it to freeze too.
Clean-reinstalling the system isn't something I'm in a crazy rush to do as it always takes me months to get things fully back to normal after doing so.
Anyone else had this problem? Anyone got any ideas what I should do? |

SHOW ME YOUR WANTS LISTS! I've fallen out of love with a bunch of my clothes and CDs, but as you can imagine, listing it all is a bit of an effort. To get the ball rolling, is there anything in particular people are looking for right now? |

Anti-Virus for Mac? My work computer turned up with a virus today. The external USB drive that I connect primarily to my Windows machine was found to have the virus as well. I have been using the USB drive to transfer files from my Windows machine to my new MBP. In fact, I used it just before my work machine was found to have the virus. Does my Mac come with anti-virus? I can't seem to find any. What's a good name in anti-virus for Mac? Yes, free would be great, (I have to admit, I'm hoping that I don't have to worry about viruses at all on the Mac), but I'll pay. I appreciate all the help I've been given. I hope to someday pay it forward. Thanks! Current Mood: annoyed |

Random bleep? I have a Macbook. It's a little less than a year old, and running 10.5.4.
Within the past few weeks, it's started randomly bleeping at me. It doesn't matter what I'm running or how long it's been on, but every now and then (every 5-10 mins, so often enough) it emits a vague bleeping sound that is kind of like a muted MSN Messenger / Facebook alert. The timing is random, not set, so I have no idea what's going on.
Needless to say, it is starting to drive me INSANE. Any ideas on what to do to stop it other than keeping my computer muted? Because that would be the most inconvenient thing considering I work with sound all the time.
On second thought, it's more of a deep "bloop" sound than a bleep. I think too much. |

I have a MacBook running 10.5.4 and every so often instead of asking me for my password once when I wake it up, it asks me for it twice.
When I input my password, the screen flashes quickly to my desktop, but then the login screen will show up again and prompt me for my password a second time. It never asks me more than twice though.
Does anyone know what the cause is? D:
Thanks! |

Goodbye Firstly today has been a very sad day and i am v upset as i found out a very old freind died last night. I have not seen him in 7 or 8 years but he was for many years one of the closest people to me we did everything together. And we both saved each others life many times, he was one of the people that gave me my name ( Carter ) and one of the people that truly shaped who i am today. I will miss him even though i have not seen him for a long time. I will not go in specifics but he died the way he lived in many ways at 35. Its brought back many feelings and i know a part of who i am is gone forever Goodbye my crazy, mental friend you really did live. After starting to write this i realise that the other things i was going to say dont matter this post should be about him Thank you for britney thank you for Half life thank you for all those nights and all those parties thank you for being there in that club on that night and saving my life when nobody else believed in me And sorry for closing our friendship because of a girl i know you understood and thank you for walking away before i had to tell you You should have called bro i would have been there but i understand why you didnt. I managed to cope with losing the one i love i understand why you didnt GOOD BYE Current Mood: sadCurrent Music: now i fall - wolfshiem |

Rich Text Editor for OS9.2.2 After Mac of All Trades http://www.macofalltrades.com made me a reasonable offer for my iMac Core 2 Duo, I decided to start retro Macintoshing with a 2000 PowerBook G3/400 (Pismo) I bought from http://www.powerbookguy.com and an Apple Newton eMate 300 for a portable. My question is: Can anyone recommend a good rich text editor for OS 9.2.2? I don't need a full-out word processor or software suite, but I'll purchase and install, if - and only if - necessary. This is just for the time being as I plan to upgrade my PowerBook's memory to 512 MB, purchase and install Mac OS 10.3.9 by the end of this year. Please include a link (if available) with your reply. Thanks. ^..^~ Current Mood: curiousCurrent Music: Love and Rockets - Kundalini Express |

For people still waiting for payment from me Many apologies, I'm still absolutely unable to use online transfers right now. Which is infuriating. I hope to resolve it soon (am looking at approx a week now), but if you are still waiting to hear from me (have tried to respond, but not at home much this week, am mostly checking the internet form a phone), please comment here or PM me. If you're London-based, I'm happy to arrange a meet in person with cash. If not, let me know and I'll send cheque/sort out alternative.
Hope this is acceptable within community rules - I want to let people know ASAP. |

Photomanip program - freeware? I'm looking for a simple, freeware photomanip program (it's for a child - bright, reading at adult level but I'd like options besides GIMP).
Any suggestions?
Yes, I did see the entry below - would like some other options, between GIMP and photoedit |

Leopard: Use Preview for Simple Photo Edits Preview for Leopard includes some basic photo editing tools like crop, resize, color adjust and more. Apple's posted a new (well, new to me) video with an overview of these features: http://www.apple.com/business/theater/#tutorial=photoeditsThought some folks might want to know this based on how many queries we get here for simple and free photo editors. Changing iMac HDD Hi, I have a 20" iMac from early 2006. First models with the intel processor. The hard drive just died on me and Apple wants $248 for 250GB drive and another $135 to put it in. This seems outrageously expensive since 500GB drives are now under $100. So my question is, is there something special about the hard drives Apple uses? Or can I just go out and buy any 3.5" SATA drive and attempt the grueling process of replacing it myself? Spending $90 and having twice the storage to do it myself seems more appealing than paying $400 for Apple to do it with the smaller drive. Also, can anybody recommend a good data recovery specialist that can hopefully get all of my stuff off the old drive 'cause the fool that I am didn't have everything backed up and will be devestated if it's gone forever. Thanks. |

Macbook vs. Macbook Pro? I'm going off to college in September and I'm thinking of making the move from Windows to Mac for my college laptop. I'd appreciate any help regarding a few questions I have about Macs. I'm stuck between the high-end Macbook (the $1500 black one) or the low-end Macbook Pro ($2000). I've been looking at the system specs on the Apple website and the only difference I've noticed is the hard disk space (the cheaper one actually has 50 GB more) and the video card (Nvidia powerhouse on the Pro vs. some generic Intel video card on the Macbook). My first question is, are these the only differences between the two? Apart from the look of the and feel of the physical computer I mean. I'd also like to know, just how good is the Intel video card that comes with the Macbook? I'll probably bring a few of my games along and I'd like the assurance of knowing that I'll actually be able to play them. I'll also be using Final Cut Pro. If the card isn't too good, which wouldn't surprise me based on my past experiences with Intel video cards, would I be able to replace it with my Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT card? I have it on my PC, but seeing as it's just gonna be sitting in my room while I'm off at college I'm thinking of just taking the video card with me? I'm not sure if that would work though because 1. I don't know if Nvidia cards are specific to certain operating systems (i.e. a card I bought for my PC can't be used in a Mac), and 2. I don't know if the GeForce 8600 GT could physically fit in a Macbook in the first place. Finally, I'm also curious about runing Windows on a Mac. I'm planning on doing that so that I'll be able to run my old games without having to buy the Mac versions of all of them. Does it run smoothly? I'm sorry for the rambling, if you got lost my questions are just: /- Are there any differences between the $1500 Macbook and the $2000 Macbook Pro besides hard disk space and video cards? /- How well does the Intel video card on the Macbook run? Is it good for things like games and video editing? /- Can the Macbook's Intel video card be replaced with an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT? /- How does Windows on Mac work? Does it run smoothly? Thanks in advance to anyone with the patience to answer me, haha! Cross-posted to appleworld. My apologies if you have both communities on your friends list. |

Also Rocketdog shoes, white dollybar shoes, Onfire Purse, Zara grey stars top, leather accessorize bag, Elemis british airways club class kit, and sun cream! I need to clear up some space so i can make new batches of tarts. So i'm having a tarts clearance! I've made some packs, all reduced up to half price! All sorts of prices, highest is £2.50 for a pack. This is going to be a very rare occurance so snap 'em up!
If you don't know what i'm on about, i make my own soy wax tarts. You pop them in the top of your oil burner with a tealight underneath. Because i use soy wax, there will be less smoke, (almost always none!) the scent throw is better and they burn for longer! Give them a try. =)
They're not all in perfect condition. Some are individually packed, some are not. This is a good chance for someone who's wanted to try my tarts but never known what to try, now you can sample! Snow fairy scent is coming soon! ;) Click here for tarts!!! ( Read more... )Other stuff \/ Fully priced tarts first!
