4:30 pm - I'm still alive ...
|
... but somehow I don't feel that much inclination to update my LJ anymore. I mean when was my last update? one months ago?
Anyway, tomorrow's my birthday, and I rather should bake than laze around at the PC.
Other news: - I began a course in Esperanto. I know some may say "Why do you learn that language? Nobody's speaking it.", but I like the sound and flow of Esperanto and it's really easy to learn. - I did some more work on SD3 - a project that'll be over in a year or so. - I was at a LARP in mid-September, and to be honest: it was just average, but ok. - Papa's fraternity colleagues visited last weekend and we had a really good time. Though I ate way too much.
That's it ... no more news, because my life usually is boring.
And did I mention that I always have the feeling of being permanently busy?

11:40 am - She's still alive!
|
And I'm finally updating again, now that I have nothing else (distracting) to do.
The stay at the (mountain) hut in Lofer was really nice. I mean it rather was a house to rent for vacation thn a hut in the mountains - having running water, a dish washer and a sauna as well as the fact that it was renovated this spring - and therefor really comfortable. From the play point of view it wasn't as good as the last two years. We played less, but I think that's partly because of Ines, the almost one year old daughter of Karli and Mom, and the game wasn't as intense as it was the last years. All in all it wasn nice, though I sometimes was really frustrated, because I had the feeling as if I don't contribute anything worthy to the game.
On our way back home we decided for a break at Wels, where we went to a Medieval market. Sascha and me even found some nifty things: we both bought a Bauernring (a small portable sundial) and I got a nice bag made from leather. Both for LARPing, wht else?
Finally at home and online after one week gone I checked my mails and foundout that I had to submit my updated charater the day before - *shrug* I submitted my character on Sunday (instead of Friday *ggg*) and: On Tuesday I finally got the Artefaktkarte from Gregor. Took me almost 4 months to get it.
Plus: I registered for a LARP next year (at the begining of April). Robert - the organiser - even called me to give me the chance to register before it went officially online! Waiting list for PCs started 4 days after begin of registration.
About SD3 and the Rabenordencamapign: both are worked on. I think the webiste for SD3 will be one during next week, as well as registration. And for the Rabenordencamapign: Tino, Daniel and me will meet up tomorrow to finish the plot.

So. I'm on vacation now and to be honest: I'm ready for it. The last two weeks were stressy at work (no wonder, since Thomas is on vacation) and I'm happy it's over now. Though Quendi will go on vacation/a congress the second week I'm back from my one week vacation.
So ... I have to write two To-Do-lists now (one for Quendi and one for Thomas), then look up some needed recipes for next week and then go to bed. Tomorrow I'll go to work to count my batch again and then write a bit of protocol. Then go shopping food for next week, pack things for it and leave.
And then: one week RPGing at a hut in Lofer.

My vacation's almost over and compared to the last three daysI feel a bit bored today. Perhaps it's because I decided to -not- do any cleaning or tidying up. I wanted to look through the fotos of Pendelmacher again, but the CD/DVD-drive somehow doesn't want to read them. That makes me somehow ... not happy.
Apart from that there's still the pan and the pot from yesterday's dinner to clean and the whole laundry I did Tuesday and yesterday to fold.
So: still some house work.

4:21 pm - I'm still alive - and on vacation
|
I'm hom from vacation to Mondsee since Sunday afternoon, but somehow I lacked the enthusiasm/ time to update until now. The time in Mondsee (or Salzkammergut - how you like it) was really nice. Sascha and me left Vienna on Monday morning and arrived in Mondsee early afternoon. After getting unpacked at our rooms we went hiking to the Irrsee (around the moor and it's nearer environment). Tuesday Sascha and me went to the Almatl, where we visited the local zoo and the Konrad-Lorenz-Forschungsstelle. We also wanted to hike to the Almsee, but it started raining heavily after the first half and we two decided to just go back to the car and home. Wednesday the weather turned summery again. Sascha and me went on a very long hiking tour around the Drachendwand (a mountain formation west of the Mondsee). We started at 10 am and came back to our car at about 7.30 pm. Though the tour itself was exhausting at some points (like walking up the Almkogel or hiking in full sun up to ruin Wartenfels) it was a very nice day. Thursday we were still exhausted from our tour (walking downhill is just bad ;-)) and spent the morning shopping in Freilassing (were we both got a cool hiking rucksack, I got a pair of Birkenstock sandals and Sascha leather pants) and the afternoon swimming at Lake Mondsee. Just relaxing and doing nothing - in the end it was kinda boring compared to the other days. Friday Sascha and me went to the Hallstättersee. Hiking at the Eastern bank of the lake. It was a very beautiful tour, because since there's not much place between shoreline and hills there are no houses, just the trainline, thr hiking trail and wood. Saturday we went to the Tauplitzalm - again hiking. A beautiful day, though we ended up being caught in a thunderstorm with heavy rainfall. Saturday evening we were at Skerolf & Clara's barbecue party. And on Sunday we just went home. With a premiere, because it was the first time I really drove a car in Vienna. I'm happy I chose Sunday early afternoon for that because there wasn't much traffic.
And yesterday early afternoon I went to Burgenland. I'm currently sewing a nice dress for LARPing. Tomorrow there's tidying up some part of the Karlhof and on Thursday and Friday I'll prepare things for my IT-barbecue party.

5:32 pm - some snippets
|
Yesterday I wrote an IT-letter for Berenike. (I later talked with Daniel and then even later with Sascha about it)
After watching Universum, getting a shower and calling Dan and Daniel (it's not a pun, these are two different guys) I surfed a bit around at Wikipedia and found out that the history for Vestenmannavnjar (a nation in 7th Sea) is very similar to the history of Iceland. But I doubt that it's any bit different for the other 7th Sea nations :-D
In comparison to yesterday I'm a bit more motivated, though I'm still not in the right mood for writing backgroundstories.
Today after work I shopped groceries (including 2 kg strawberries) and on my way home I saw a pair of crows with two additional crows that were a bit smaller. Seems to me as if these were the younglings. It was niceto watch them sit around on a nearby roof, too timid to fly on their own.
Another cool thing today: ( work-related, so some gory details behind the cutCollapse )
So. I'll make dinner some time later (I nearly forgot to take the minced meat out of the freezer) and perhaprs I'll write on the background story for the LARP in July. Plus: I should call Benji. And Bernd.
On another work-related note: the cells of two of my batches died from yesterday to today. No living cell left. Thomas and me are sure that it's because of the high Sodiumbutyrate dose. And the cells decreased their antibody production during the proteinfree adaptation.

2:59 pm - weekend news
|
The very good news first: Quendi's back from New Zealand. Seems as if he arrived sometime during yesterday because in the afternoon I saw him appear on ICQ - though I think he just turned on his PC nad then left to chill with his friends. Anyway, he's back.
Yesterday evening Sascha and me went to the movies again and finally saw "House of Flying Daggers" (though just in the German translated version, but I'm happy we still found a theater showing the film)
[WARNING: spoilers ahead]
I like it, perhaps more than Tiger and Dragon, though the film had some lengthy kitschy moments where I thought I've to retch ;-) anyway, it was a nice story, with a lot of nice martial arts scenes and really a lot of nice costumes (I really liked the dancing scenes at the beginning) The only partly ridiculous thing about the movie is that at the end it took the female hero (heck, I forgot her name) a really really long time to die. Too long to be real, though when she finally died, it looked more real than any other scene I've ever seen in a movie - not that I haven't seen large amounts of blood in movies before, but this time it was ... like it would be in real (as far as I dare to say, not that I'm a doctor or someone who's studied medicine)
[spoiler's end]
Apart from that I'll sew again today - hopefully I'll be finished with my things in the evening.

9:00 pm - an evening alone at home
|
Sascha's out tonight, meeting up with Markus and Kabel at the Shamrock. I completely forgot about that, and so I'm just staying at home. Not that I feel bored, but I'm in the mood of calling somebody, but can't come up with somebody ...
At least I got a decent shower folded laundry and started packing things for Burgenland. Not that I'll need much, but I'll go back to Vienna on Saturday afternoon, because we'll play Alternity (I completely forgot about that until I got a mail from Momo today) and therefor I've to take allthe RPGing stuff with me. Btw: I really wonder how the story continues ...
I'm also considering taking some sewing things with me to Burgenland. I mean I didn't sew ANYthing this week. Lazy me that I am, but somehow I found no time for that. All I did was washing the fabric.
Besides: today I had an appointment at the dentist again. My root treatment's finally finished and I have a shiny new filling again. Along with two other "serviced" fillings. All done without narcotics :-) It hurt a bit, but all in all it was bearable. And I'm proud of myself because of that!

9:01 pm - Friday
|
I'm currently talking with Sascha over ICQ. Yesterday I decided to reactivate my account and talked with Kabel (already mentioned that). I even downloaded Miranda - a nice tool.
I've also talked with Tina shortly, to get her bank account number and talk with her about the order at Lederkram.
Besides that: just weekend. And now I'm back to ICQing. ;-)
Btw: I need new icons. For everything.

4:36 pm - the weekend ahead - full of plans
|
Hehe ... yesterday was new moon - no wonder I slept that well :-D
Beside that: work today was nice: first I prepared the samples for doping the mice (again a nice EPO assay with some rodents), then did passaging cells, and passaging cells and .. cleaning up the mess in the mouse room. Sounds boring and ordinary, but it was an ok day. Ok, I screwed up a thing: I passaged the proteinfree cells with FCS-medium. I decided to wait until they are dense again (on Monday) and then change the medium back to proteinfree. I hope the cells won't go crazy until then. I mean they are adapted to proteinfree medium and now they have get the ultra-heavy protein and hormone-slap. I'll see on Monday.
Today in the evening is MüSh-session again. I wonder how it'll be, because today Babsi's new boyfriends joins us as a new player. Tomorrow's Alternity night and I'm really looking forward to that. Especially to seeing Ines again. She's sooo cute (I admit: she's not my baby). Plus playing of course :-)
I also want to go shop fabrics for sewing LARP-costumes at Kritzendorf tomorrow. That means Sascha and me have to get up pretty early (for a Saturday after RPGing) to get there on time, because I'm not sure how long they've opened on Saturdays. In the worst case I have to go shop there on Monday after work.

6:02 pm - Dentists!
|
Today was my second appointment at the dentist because of the root treatment. I came there on time and turned out that the receptionist forgot ot note my appointment when she arranged it for me last time. So I had to wait for about half an hour (not that bad, but I could do better things with that time) because "the doctor's doing a surgery right now". I really don't wanna know what kind of surgeries these are ... So after I waited my root treatment continued and now this damn tooth aches again.
I -so- hate dentists and all things related to them!

11:10 am - Go me! Lazy SL ahead!
|
Yesterday I spent 8 hours on sewing that damned cape for the Dalriada-LARP. In the end I let out the inlet, because it was too much work at that time. SOmehow I managed to cut the fabric for the inlet a bit too small and I didn't want to fiddle around with it. All in all the cape came out pretty good, I like it and it feels as if it can keep me warm - at least for some time. All I have to do now is sew a small fabric strip on the strip where cape meets hood, because that spot still needs some attention to look decent, but seince I have to sew this by hand I can do that sometime during week.
Apart from that I finally came up with nice names for months for the calendars of the Duchies and Tristande, but I'm still not 100% sure if they sound good - I'll present them to Chris today (as well as showing Tino the calendars at all) and then - let's see how he likes them and what input he can give.
Well, that leaves me with the duty of writing info about Anima Atra, which I have postponed until - now. And I really should start with it now, because I'll leave for Vienna at 1 and when I'm in Vienna I'll go straight to Chris - so text should be ready when I leave.

9:35 pm - the evening - fluffy things to mention
|
Yesterday when I as at the tunnel for breakfast I met Karli, Momo & Ines, Hannes, Philipp and his girlfriend. It was nice to see them all again. Karli immediately asked me whene I have to play again, but as soon as he heard that I organise a LARP at the begin of Febuary he meant that we'll play in mid Febuary again. Hehe, he knows what it's like to SL/DM and organise things. Karli also told me to ask Sascha if he wants to join the Alternity group, because he's fed up with Roland's mode of (not)answering the mails.
I'm also finished with answering the player mails for Rex Mortimer. And now I'll resume free time: call Skerolf and then look at all the shiny books I bought at Mahü today :-)

12:29 pm - The last day
|
Until so far I haven't done much. Ok, I was shopping groceries at Billa - along other things I bought black tea (Earl Grey) and Green tea for the occasional guest who wants that. Plus I called Sascha.
Well, right after posting I'll start helping my mum in the kitchen. And then take some time to tidy up my room and perhaps do a bit organisational stuff for the LARP.
Besides: Daniel will come over on Sunday. I think I'm already looking forward to talk with him again. And I think I'll call Jakob and as him, if he wants to come over on Thursday. He wants to repair his LARP-arrows and I want to talk with him again.

7:09 pm - Christmas and the days after
|
I had a good time this Christmas though some people wanted to know if it was hard for us, because my Dad died three months ago. To be honest: this year it was less stressy than in all the years before, especially concerning the decoration of the tree, because my mum and Franz had prepared the tree on the 23rd and not as usual on the 24th during afternoon. So Christa and me decorated the tree, and my mum cooked dinner (Zwiebelrostbraten) and after dinner Christmas started with giving away gifts and all that. We also took a foto from us and the Christmas tree for Michi who had to work in St. Johann all three days. At about 8.30 Franz and Angela came (as every year) and stayed until 1 am. Apart from other years we didn't play anything (the others didn't want to try out Citadelles) and just talked. On Saturday we went first to Rosi Oma and after that to Tante Resi in the afternoon. Sascha and Franz went home after Rosi Oma, because they said it was enough for them. We three girls spent another two or three hours in Zurndorf and I think it was 6.30 in the evening when we finally came home. Saturday evening Sascha and me just stayed at home and watched TV - first "Ice Age" and then "Brotherhood of the wolves" - a movie I haven't seen back when it was at the theaters and to be honest: I think I didn't miss that much then. (Sascha meant that the film was ruined by a bit too much posing) On Sunday Sascha and me went to Vienna straight after lunch and spent the afternoon and dinner with his parents and the rest of the weekend (from 8 to 11) at Nick's place where we watched Football. (I think I looked forward to that the whole week)
( And here's the obligatory gift-listCollapse )

6:11 pm - The last two days
|
To sum it up: the Christmas party yesterday was like the other 5 before: lots of food to eat, lots of alcohol to drink, lots of people to talk with and a lot of dancing. All in all: I had a pretty good time. I didn't get drunk like last year or the year before, but it was about 3.30 am when I finally was in bed.
Today I got up at 8 and went straight to work where I was the 4th or so to arrive :-). I'm pretty surprised that I didn't feel tired during the day, but I think I begin to get tired now. The only bad thing today was that I don't have a lot of motivation. (Therefor I postponed some things at work to tomorrow :-D)
Besides: Yesterday was Christmas party in the evening and at noon we (Günter, Teresia, Simon, Reinhard, Vera, Thomas, Karina, Katja and me) went to Toko-Ri for lunch. A nice Christmas lunch for the EG21 and Ferm crew of the Technikum. It tasted delicious, especially the Sushi.
Now I'm doing a bit of housework, then I'll make something for dinner, hang laundry, get a shower and then leave for the next Christmas party at Daniel's appartment.
