More politics...

So I heard today a promise from the party that is currenty in leadership of NZ, that said that family with 3 kids and a joint income of $65K or less a year will be entitled to paying less taxes, and, that a family of 2 kids with a joint income of $35K a year, don't have to pat taxes.
Do you think that is likely to happen? the idea is good, great infact, but I dont think it would work out, look at the police force... they just got a big addotion to their annual budget (like 6 million or something!) so how are they going to benefit to a taxes decrease? They will blow all this money on a certain key areas that, along with the upgrade, maintanance cost also go on the increase, meaning they will be asking for more in the future years to cover these costs, but where will it come from? are the gonna disband our army as well? or maybe our navy? or we'll just take it from something less important, like... say, television, drug/alcohol awareness, medical research, or our pay checks (yeah.. right!).
OR..
Is it just a ploy to encourage people who are unemployed parents, or as a couple with a joint income of $35K a year to work less becase they know they will get equal to a little difference in money at te end of the week? with one parent at home al the time, but then again, for a nuclear family to have only one parent working they probably have a seperate tax exemption bracket.
But.. i'm sure WINZ (http://www.winz.co.nz) have a seperate 'working for families' scheme which entitles the family to extra money (from us workers that is..)

So, are they any better off doing this? or what is the story?
