true story.

Is it common for brestfed babies to spit up often. we have some days where there is none and some days where it seems like every time she eats shes spitting up. Shes doing a lot of clusterfeeding and I think I have some OAL stuff going on. Ive spoken with an LC and our pediatrician about it, the pedi says not to worry since she is gaining weight but I am wondering if there is anything I can do to help this issue resolve?

We made fennel seed tea and gave it to the baby in a dropper. Just a couple drops.

It calms down any reflux issues that might be/are going on and reduces the spit up.

I found that certain things I ate would make my boys spit up more. Tomatoes were the biggest offender and with my first son, dairy would make him spit up. You can look on kellymom for the elimination diet but as long as she is gaining I'm sure she is ok!

I can't seem to figure out a pattern for Riley's spit up. I can't match it to a food item or a time of day, it's just random days. He did it a lot when he was really little, and now that he's becoming a better burper, there's a lot less in the spit up department. Is Harper a decent burper??

Sometimes she is and sometimes the spit up happens when she is burping or when I am trying to burp her, there isn't really a pattern.

Both my boys had acid reflux which caused them to spit up but once they got the med for it .. They pretty much stopped.

Hailey spit up ALL THE TIME, but she was also screaming and hiccupping all the time as well, which led us to her diagnosis of acid reflux. Now that she is on the medicine, she is doing much better and only seldomly spits up.
On the other hand, my brother spit up every single feeding, but was a happy and content baby. Nothing wrong with him, they just called him a 'happy spitter'.

What made you guys think it was acid reflux, I mean what made you think it was more than just being a spitty baby, the screaming?

Yeppers. SHe was definitely very screamy, very uncomfortable, arching her back all the time, etc. Really wish it didn't take 6 weeks to figure it out! Life is so much easier now!
