Whinging Swinburne students

[Real life ramblings]

Last Friday, Maxine, my housemate and his brother went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at Melbourne Central. During the pre-feature ads, one particular black and white ad appears showing a beach and people on it. At this point we heard someone shouting from down the front. It was a girl about our age shouting "Get on with it!" at the screen. I just figured it was just some Melbourne city lunatic until the ad responded to her. It was an interactive ad for Swinburne. The press release can be found here.

The main message is that Swinburne is for students who want to "Get on with it" and just get through the course without any bullcrap I guess. After five years there (well, four not including my work placement), I don't quite feel that our course just "got on with it", especially when there was plenty of fluff and irrelevant subjects. Oh well, I suppose that makes me a well-rounded graduate. :P

The ad was quite clever. They are apparently doing more in King Kong and the Chronicles of Narnia at Melbourne Central, the Jam Factory, Hoyts Ringwood and Village Wantirna.

Harry Potter was very good. The best movie of the series yet. It was a lot darker, there was more character development, and it was just plain old exciting. Well worth seeing. (****) That's out of five...
