yup, that means ONE day to HK baby! :D finally again after 1.5 years, although i can't believe the last time i went was in 2007. time = flying. but this time will be slightly different, cos i'm not just going there for a holiday & to chill & bum around all day. first time being there for more than a few weeks + working...who knows how different it will be. well, the plan is to eat lots, go to lots of places, stalk ppl & have fun, as always. :D looking forward to meeting: Chingyi, Jeff (maybe), Xtie (PLZYES! we need holy grail!) & KK (maybe) after a long long longgg time.

finally back in Vancouver for the summer. it's been reaaaally chill so far, cos for once i don't have to look for a job. this is the first time i've went into summer actually having a job. go me! so yeah, i've been lazing around, driving my bros around & of course, watching shows. XD i'm waiting for the package from Citibank to arrive so i actually know what to expect of my job. and what the dress code is so i can start planning my OL (office lady) clothes. saddd. bought some black heels yesterday, but i'm not looking forward to wearing them to work everyday. O_O

my prize from Ella (Koon) came today! it was a big black shirt from her official site. like it has the site address in front & a drawing of her on the back. like...okayyy. she sent me an e-mail & a facebook message telling me to take a pic & post it on facebook so i could make her fans jealuz lol. apparently it's a "limited edition" t-shirt that not many ppl have. i wonder if i can sell it... honestly i wouldn't wear it out cos it's too big for me & i'm not a mega fan haha. but it's cool that she actually gave out prizes & sent personal e-mails/messages i guess. :)

oh yeah, i just learned that one of my friends from high school got married in March. like WTH. well i can't say i'm surprised, given her personality, but STILL. i wonder if she even told her parents about it beforehand. O_O i sincerely hope it doesn't end with a divorce. i don't know how old her husband is, but i really can't imagine getting married at age 20 when you're still in school. if she starts popping out babies next, i think i might faint. DDD:

anyway, my aim for now shall be to learn to play rock band. play well, i mean. :D played for the first time with my bros today & they said i sucked. -.- i got like 72% on the drums okay! and they wouldn't let me buy any clothes. PFFT. it's quite a cool game really. i wonder if my hands will hurt tomorrow from gripping the drumsticks too tightly. O_o

eighteen days to HK

ah, finally have time to update about my birthday & random things about March. as it is obvious by my lack of updates, i was busy busy, especially the last 2 weeks of school, where i just about spent every second that i wasn't in class hibernating in my room. in the span of 2 weeks, i managed to produce: 1 socy response paper, 1 lab assignment, 1 lab project, 1 socy essay AND study for a socy test. *faints* thank goodness my exam schedule is pretty good - i end late but only have 3 exams. aka 1 per week so studying isn't that stressful. ^^ had my environmental socy exam yesterday so that's done with. i can't believe i wrote for 3 hours straight. O_O next is stats on Friday...ugh.

anyway, March. baked green tea cheesecake, friended Ella Koon on facebook & won her facebook contest (don't ask...i can't wait to get my prize though :D), went to the sugar bush to see how syrup was made (see pix), went to zai's dance show, spent Earth Hour playing sardines & singing in the dark cos there was nothing to do...fun stuff. :)

oh yeah, i finally got a job in HK a few days ago, to my own surprise. i had 3 interviews last month, so i was hoping that something would come through. but i really didn't expect to get the one that was closest to a real job. so basically i'll be interning at Citibank HK for 8 weeks starting 15 June. yeah, i was pretty :O myself. i swear my jaw dropped a mile when i read that e-mail lol. but all is well & good. :) the downside is that i won't be able to be a counselor at the camp i went to 4 years ago. and i really wanted to do it cos that camp is so awesome! but i guess i can still do it next year, or before i turn 25. -.- so if anyone is thinking of going to HK this summer, DO IT (edit: uh, i just realized i already said this a few entries ago. well, that just shows how desperate i am for visitors. ><) i'm already trying to persuade Xtie & some ppl from TW to visit me haha.

i've been so busy i haven't had the chance to update about things worth updating about. oh well, maybe i'll do a huge summary of March after next week.

alright, braces! so i got them yesterday, & i look like this. not hideously ugly (i hope), but definitely not attractive. oh well. to start from the beginning of this dental torture, pulling out 4 teeth at once wasn't fun, but not as bad as i expected. thank goodness for anesthetics. i couldn't really eat for a few days, but at least it didn't hurt. now actual braces is another story, because guess what...IT HURTS. LIKE HELL.

i got clear brackets with dark grey elastics, which is low key but good to start off with i guess. if i feel adventurous enough i may get neon pink elastics one day haha. it didn't hurt when i first got them on, but last night it started hurting, & still hurts now. well, it's bearable when i'm not eating, but i have to eat sometime right. argh. i know - no pain, no gain/beauty is pain & all that, but that doesn't stop it from hurting. and it's worse when everyone else at this age is post-braces & has perfect teeth. T____T at least i get tips on what/what not to do, & warnings on how much they're going to hurt haha.

in case anyone is wondering, i only got them now cos 1. when i was in Spore my mom wasn't sure how much longer we would stay for 2. i'm not sure i trust dentists/orthos in TW entirely (i only went to the dentist twice there & they didn't do jack to clean my teeth -.-) 3. i was really against getting them until last year. my mom had been telling me to get them since i started uni, but i was like meh. but over time it became more obvious that my teeth were sticking out. and my relatives & mom's friends kept commenting that i should get them...sooooo i was like okay maybe i need them after all. so after much trouble & stress in dealing with Kingston's lousy wols ortho/dentist offices, here they are. whoopee.

never mind, i shall take comfort in the fact that Niki didn't get braces till she was 20 either, & she's beauuuuuutifullll now (of course that is prolly cos she's a celebrity -.-). but still. she said no boys were attracted to her before she got braces LOL. i am a boy-repeller! XD

i'm procrastinating on a paper for my ICT class right now. so far i've watched STS, read 2 chapters of Twilight (no i'm not becoming a crazy fangirl don't worry), flipped through an old TVB mag (the one with KeNi on the cover ♥), flipped through yearbooks from the past 2 years...& now i'm waiting for dinner time. sigh. going to the dentist to get 4 (yes, FOUR) teeth pulled out on Monday, & i'm scared shitless. :( not looking forward to not being able to eat for the next X number of weeks. they're not wisdom teeth extractions btw; just regular teeth cos i'm getting braces on 12 March. yes, that's right. i'm going to be OOGLEE. T___T

3 whole months in HK! i'm excited. :D:D:D trying to get an internship/job/volunteer thingy right now, either at a lab, camp or real company. we'll see how it works out. i just want to be busy busy busy...but happy of course. :D hopefully the heat doesn't kill me; i haven't experienced super hot summers for like 3 years. anyway, me & some other ppl who're going back have already thought of so many things to do when we get back. KTV (overnight?), island hopping (like the small islands off HK), Macau, lan kwai fong, cycling, EATING, SHOPPING...& of course, being glued to the TV every night. maybe after this summer i'll be able to reach 100 shows lol.

going to Toronto on Friday to watch The Sound of Music musical! maybe i should start practicing my songs...

btw, i revamped my LJ for the first time in like 5 years. this layout is called peacock declining umbrella. XD

today (or tomorrow) marks the 6th year since i've moved from Singapore. i wonder at what point i should stop acknowledging this date. after 10 years? 50 years? never? well, i guess there's no harm in remembering it every year. it kinda serves as a marker of how far i've come...which i sometimes think isn't that far. :\ who knows?

2 weeks into the new semester, & i'm still not back in study mode haha. quelle surprise. classes-wise, there's still stats and race from last semester (full year courses), sociology of communication & information technology (CIT), environmental sociology & socioemotional development. i'm loving CIT (who doesn't love talking about facebook 24/7?!), but enviro is kinda out of my realm & the prof's accent is hard to understand. socioemotional development is fairly interesting, but the prof uses like SAT words every 2 sentences. *___* like is it really necessary?? my brain does not process big words at 8.30am kthx.

the last 2 Fridays have been well-spent with the same group of ppl - eating German food (cordon bleu!), playing mafia & talking about everything from putting babies into washing machines to maids to how guys always take advantage of girls. watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button today, & it was a pretty good movie, but i found the entire thing too...chronological. it was like listening to a 3-hour story, basically. zai couldn't stop swooning when Brad Pitt reached his 20s/30s. XD i hate to admit it, but he's still pretty damn hot.

next 2 weekends are going to be craaaazyyyy, with CNY dinners/events, a fashion show (which i'm volunteering for) & possible bday celebrations. and incidentally that's when all the work is going to pile up - the 2 weeks before reading week. but we're going to watch The Sound of Music musical in Toronto during reading week! :D so excited...TSOM is like my fave musical ever. our kindergarten class acted it out during our k-school orientation. XD hopefully the ppl on stage will be more than dots even if we're sitting in the second last row. we spent like 2 hours discussing & looking for tickets. O__o it was totally a spontaneous decision though - i didn't even KNOW the musical was in TO till that night. but it should be good! :D

it's that time of the year again! countdown this year will be spent at my aunt's house (or at home, depending on what time she kicks us out). haha, at least it's not in the toilet ala 2006. XD nothing really major happened this year, & i didn't go anywhere besides back & forth from Kingston to Vancouver.

i started my 2008 scrapbook around March under Xtie's influence, & really had fun updating it throughout the year (esp. the tv/movies section for obvious reasons XD). highlights of the year include: countdown in HK with Winnie, passing my driving test, obsessing over TSD/KeNi/DDSS/Jack, reading week trip to Toronto/Niagara Falls, my bday dinner + night of YBG, lake date IV, summer job at the food bank, Spain winning the Euros, obsessing over La Seleccion/Fernando/Iker/Sernando, obsessing over HOGII/Movia, 0.5, human sexuality class, OB lab-ing, Angelita's bday at the corn maze, bday dinners at Sakura all-you-can-eat, surprising Hansen on his bday...songs of the year would be When I'm With You by Faber Drive (for Sernando) & 鍾無艷 by Kay Tse (for Movia). and here's the whole list:

winter break in Vancouver has been pretty chill so far. all i'm doing is hibernating cos there's SOOOOO much snow. like we actually have a hard time getting out of the driveway. so i guess the whole of Canada will have a white Christmas this year. :) i feel sorry for all the poor ppl stuck at the airport though. hopefully the weather clears up before all of us have to go back to school.

while procrastinating on my sociology essay (due on the second day of school wth), i went on a Last One Standing (Roger Bear/Kevin/Yoyo) marathon & have been youtube-ing like crazy ever since. LOS is like the most miserable show ever. :\ i think watching it will suck out whatever happiness you happen to be feeling at the moment. Roger Bear freaks the hell out of me now, especially his EYES. the last scene was downright CREEPY. but you've got to hand it to him for his acting skillz though. and of course to Kevin, who i am falling in love with all over again. *fangirly sigh* suit!Kevin, wifebeater!Kevin, moobs!Kevin, shoobs!Kevin, swt!Kevin etc. just keeeeeeeel me. *falls over* and KevYo too. ♥

so as a result, things have not been going so great academic-wise. i don't even really like any of classes in particular, & especially not my learning class. the info is dry as hell & one of my lab partners is seriously DUMZ. although he does know how to make a graph on paint, which still baffles me. XD and human sexuality provides the lulz. i mean, who doesn't like learning the 10 steps of condom use & rubbing spermicidal jelly on themselves?! >) i wish i was as enthusiastic about the midterm though. marks aren't out yet but i'm 100% sure i did pretty badly. so much for starting out on a good note. i need to do better.

thanksgiving weekend again. went out for Thai food with the remaining housies (aka everyone minus Wendy) & had bbt after. last night we had a 4 hour dinner cos we were going through each other's friends lists & facestalking potential hot boys. but of course none of them were actually hot. -.- but good times. :D

speaking of which, the feeling of spring05 is coming back again. (read: *V*V*) good old days of teenage angst which led to a single moment of beautiful insanity, & then more months of moping. sigh. but hey, a girl can dream. :)

just finished watching 溏心风暴之家好月圓 (Heart of Greed II aka Moonlight Resonance) last weekend, & i have to say the whole show was just EPIC. i have never cried so much while watching anything. and i guess the story of a broken family picking up its pieces really brings home the message of 家好月圓. :) interestingly enough, i cried more at the family parts than the lovey parts. gah, everything was just so emotional & dramatic. i was already bawling like an idiot at the end of ep3, & ep5 still makes me cry every time haha. the show also prompted me to buy moon cakes to celebrate mid-autumn festival. XD i bet moon cakes sales in HK went up like crazy, just like abalone sales did last year after the prequel aired. also, i really have to commend Tavia's acting. her crying scenes are like the best i've ever seen, & they make me cry every single time. ;____; and i loved the character she played - so stubborn but passionate at the same time. <3 as much as i love BoTa, i'm 100% a MoVia fan now haha. their story was like a k-drama without the tears & with a comedic twist. I FULLY SUPPORT SEMI-INCEST KTHX. :D also, i need to learn sign language (cos Falala's character was a mute).

ugh, my body needs to stop aching. can't really blame it though, since i have to work 6 days a week for this whole month. also, my mom bought a skateboard for 50 cents at a garage sale, so i've been practicing for sk8ter _gurl_2008 kthx. um right. anyway, for work we're having food drives at grocery stores on Saturdays, so i have to stand there for 4 hours & hand out paper bags. :\ it wasn't bad last weekend though, cos i was paired with my boss & she brought her 3 kids - a 10-year-old boy, 8-year-old girl & 4-year-old boy. they're kyooteeeeeeee. *__* especially the 4 year old. he was so hyper & violent haha. and the girl thought i was 13 years old. -_____- i had no idea what to say to that lol. but all in all, they seemed to like me a lot, which is always a good thing. ^^ i suspect i'm sekritlee good with children cos i'm just as immature as they are. XD also i've decided that i like kids at age 4, like this one, my kid crush in Thailand (i think he was about 4?) & the sextuplets on Jon & Kate Plus Eight! :D I ♥ KIDDEES KTHX. *cue aching uterus*
