Like most Jedi, Tarja was whisked away from her home world of Cathar at a young age to train to be a Jedi at the temple on Coruscant. During her time as a padawan, she studied Ataru lightsabre combat and learned to channel the fiece temper of her people into a passion for life. And it was this passion, coupled with her natural empathy for all life forms, that lead her to become both a skilled warrior and a trusted diplomat.

All was not to continue to be well for Tarja, though. Just two years before the start of the Clone Wars, she and her newly assigned padawan were sent to settle a disputed between two warring political groups on Mimban. But unfortunately, and unbeknownst to Tarja, the entire mission was a set-up. A group of Dark Jedi looking to throw the proverbial wrench in the Jedi machine had orchestrated the mission in the first place through clever manipulations, and when Tarja and her padawan arrived, they were attacked. And although Tarja managed to escape with her life, her padawan was not so lucky.

Now, it's a known fact that Cathar form strong bonds with those they consider friends, and Tarja had had developed such a bond with her apprentice. So, it was no shock to anyone that her padawan's death affected her so deeply. Especially not when one considered the fact that Tarja held all life in such high regard, and how uncalled for her padawan's loss of it was. It was also no real surprise that Tarja returned to her homeworld of Cathar under self-imposed exile to get a handle on her emotions without succumbing to the Dark Side.

It was somewhat shocking to learn that this exile is what eventually turned her to the Dark Side. Unable to cope with her grief and feeling as though she had somehow broken her own code - the belief that all life is precious - by letting her apprentice die, she began to resent. Slowly but surely, she began to feel as though the Jedi and the Republic were at fault. That, if they had seen the mission on Mimban as a trap, if they in all their wisdom had noticed something was wrong then her padawan would still be alive.

In the end, her grief corrupted her, and once it had a new thought occured to her. Something that replaced the sorrow that had hung over her for nearly two years. And that thought was revenge.

Leaving her exile, she did the only thing she could think of - she signed up for the Seperatist army. Quickly and quietly, she rose to the rank of general, and well, that's where we are now.

If anyone even thinks of stealing Tarja's concept or, more importantly, her icons, I will hurt them. I worked hard on all of this. So yeah. :P
