cinquain time!
Okay, so since two people responded to the post on my private journal and that's quite enough for me, I'm starting a cinquain thread. To refresh your memories, a cinquain is a five-line poem; the first line has two syllables, the second has four, the third has six, the fourth has eight, and the last has two again. Like so:

This is
a cinquain. It's
a way for geeks to play
a pseudo-intellectual
snob game.

The next person writes a cinquain using the last two syllables of the previous one as the first two of their cinquain. Here it would be "snob game," which really sucks for the next person.

Anyway, I figure the easiest way to do this is for me to write a cinquain and then the first person who comes along writes one using the last line of mine, and then the next person works on theirs, and so on. There's no particular order, just first come, first serve. So yeah. Have fun.

Here's the first cinquain:

New York,
oddly asleep
tonight, croons to itself
beneath the lonely comfort of
deep snow.

The next person's cinquain should begin with "deep snow" (which, incidentally, can be punctuated and capitalized however you want. For example, "Deep? SNOW!" would be fine. Weird, but fine).

Yay! *pops the champagne cork*

[ETA: I decided to make it general instead of fandom-related. Just 'cause.]

Deep snow,
drifts as tall as
autos. Buried in the
white, a low voice calls out, softly,
"Help me!"

To me
There is only
one way out but there is
also no concievable way
inside.

Inside,
walls draw closer
and the air grows thinner.
Destroying walls, salvation. A
way out.

Way out
there, there is a
hopeful sky of purple
and blue, and it sings to me in
colours.

Colours,
brightly shading
breathing softly into
a mourning, lost child of night.
Return.

Return
to me, O my
beloved. An ocean
of sand through the hourglass has
fallen.

Fallen
through time, mem'ries
of life lived long ago.
Changes due to time. People don't
resist.

Resist,
Odysseus,
the sweet siren song. Sail
true, love, and I will lead you home
to me.
