so this is what it feels like when doves cry
  • My paid account expires soon, which is super weird? I've had a paid account for so long, it feels almost traitorous to not have one. AND MY BLESSED ICONS. On the other hand, I'm not really making enough right now to justify the expense, especially with LJ so quiet. Oh LJ. I miss your heyday. So naturally this made me want to update lj!
  • Life is pretty okay. I like work, mostly, although I need more hours, but at least I have some kind of purpose and the company is really cool. It's interesting working for such a small company because all my previous jobs were with quite big organizations. We went go-karting a couple weeks ago! The CEO drove me home!
  • I've also been driving more and have become much more comfortable with the highway et al. Of course, this is just in time for it to start snowing and totally fuck with my life anyway.
  • On the 13th I'm going to one of those "live" (except, uh, not) screenings of Richard II, with goldy_dollar and a couple other assorted people. I've never gone to see one of these play/theatre broadcasts so that should be interesting. I also need to brush up on my Richard II because at present I have basically no recollection of the play at all, despite studying it. Woops.
  • The 16th is my friend's birthday and I think we're going to a spa? Which... I'm actually not super thrilled about because I'm not a spa person, but it should still be pretty fun. I am more looking forward to the "hang out afterwards with food and wine" part.
  • On the 18th I'm seeing Eddie Izzard with a friend. He's been in town before and I missed him so I'm glad we were on top of things this time. Live comedy is so great and Eddie Izzard is so great, I'm pretty pumped.
  • And then the 23rd is of course the infamous 50th anniversary. Since goldy_dollar has RUTHLESSLY ABANDONED ME in favour of being a lawyer, I'm going with two university friends to the 3D screening here on the Saturday. I was a bit skeptical about spending money on something that is available for free and will likely not be great, but on the other hand I really like seeing things in big busy theatres, so I'm hoping the general air of excitement and fun will help make the whole thing a better experience for me. So I'm excited, more for the experience of seeing two people I haven't seen in ages and being in a big chattering crowd than anything else. Prayer circle the ep doesn't suck as hard as it could.
  • And at some as-yet-undisclosed date... S2 OF THE WALKING DEAD GAME.

THE MOST ANTICIPATED MEDIA-RELATED EVENT IN MY 2013 LIFE. WHAT DO I NORMALLY DO WITH MY HANDS, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY, OH MY DARLING CLEMENTINE

If you haven't played The Walking Dead Game I 100% recommend it and it is far more of a storytelling experience than a... zombie action game experience. AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR S2, COME TO MEEEEEE

Oh yay you're working now! :) Congrats! What kind of work is it, and when did you start?

Lol I am still debating whether I actually want to pay for such a fail boat, but it does sound like it can be fun if I'm with the right people...but Moffat. :/

Ugh driving on highways, I'm still too nervous to do it. O_o I might be scarred by the fact that the entrance nearest my house growing up was right near a merge so you had to cross six lanes of heavy traffic in half a mile to reach the right exit.

Are you going to watch American!Broad church?

Thanks! It's a... they call me a "temp" but it's more temp in the sense that I don't have a fixed number of hours each week, rather than having a fixed end to my work there (I don't). I do some QA stuff and help out the marketing team as well when needed. It's sort of ad hoc work, nothing particularly challenging, but it's at least some money coming in and I can work from home which is a delight.

The two people I'm going with are bigger fans of Moffat than me, which ...lol might be good or bad. Their excitement will either be infectious or off-putting, we'll see. I might end up bottling some of my criticism until i get home. I'm slightly irritated that a bunch of snafus with the ticketing website mean we're not going to the simulcast, we're going to an evening showing, but it should still be fun.

Unfortunately I waited so long to get my license that everywhere I need to get to requires using the highway. It's not comparable to a major American city highway, and I still get nervous merging when there's traffic, but the idea of driving 110kmph doesn't terrifying me anymore lol.

OH MY GOD, YES. I'M SO EXCITED FOR AMERICAN BROADCHURCH LOLLLLLL I forgot I had never mentioned it on LJ. IT'S SO LUDICROUS TO REMAKE A SHOW WITH THE SAME WRITER AND ACTOR and I will eat up every second. I look forward to Alex Hardy's shoot-outs and sexual tension with Kelly Miller. lol but for real, I think it's win/win for me: either it's good, in which case, great!, or it's bad, in which case it'll be funny. I just hope doing American Broadchurch isn't the determining factor in whether or not Hardy is in s2 of UK Broadchurch.

Yeah, luckily most of my IRL DW fans are Moffat haters as well, so I would probably be safe on that count!

That's too bad re: highways--I have the option of public transportation, which probably takes hella longer but is with it for me.

Lmao mte! As long as it doesn't affect him being in s2 (because without him, what is the point? I still don't see what they are going to do with s2, tbh), I am cool with an American version. And lol, sexual tension indeed--negl the shipper in me was not entirely sad at who the murderer was since it cleared the way a bit if they are both in season 2...

Also, are you still watching The Mindy Project? Did you think it ever improved?

Well we have public transportation too but I'm sick of it lirl which was part of the point in getting my license. Everything is much closer when you drive, too, unless it's rush hour.

Apparently as of today we know the American Broadchurch will be called "Gracepoint" although I suspect I will carry on calling it American Broadchurch for some time. And LOL ia -- I don't know what's up with s2 of Broadchurch but if it doesn't have the former detectives club I'm not sure I'll be super interested. I did like most of the characters, but the Elie/Hardy dynamic was the major point of interest for me.

Actually I haven't watched in a few weeks. Ever since that episode where James Franco gets raped as a plot device without the show displaying any realization that he was raped, I was like, "nope". I might go back to it one day, but idk.

moving from a paid to a plus account is the weirdest ever. because part most of you is like NO THIS IS THE WRONG DECISION WHY DOES EVERYTHING TURN TO DUST

I actually super enjoy small company atmosphere compared to big company atmosphere. FEELS LIKE ~FAMILY lol

IT'S SO WEIRD WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL MY BEAUTIFUL ICONS THAT ARE NOW SO WORTHLESS IN THIS CRUEL EVER-CHANGING CYBER LANDSCAPE :(

YOUR ICONS JUST KIND OF CRUELLY LURK. LIKE, MY EDIT PICS PAGE SAYS I HAVE UPLOADED 258 OUT OF 15 BUT THEY'RE ALL 'INACTIVE' AND I CAN'T USE ANY EXCEPT THE 15 OF THEM.

Your plans sound awesome, Richard II, the 50th and Eddie Izzard!
I actually got TWD on humble bundle ago based on your recommendation, but I haven't downloaded or played it yet. I guess I better get on that in S2 is coming out tomorrow.

Yeah! I'm pretty excited, it should be a good month.

S2 isn't out yet but they released news about it and it's due sometime November I think. You should definitely give it a shot! What a good game. I can't wait for s2, the news they released just made me more excited than ever.

I renewed my paid account last year and I only have to go back 2 pages to get to my 2012 Christmas cards post. fml. I do wish I had bought one of those lifetime accounts when they were handing them out, even if it seemed exorbitant at the time.

I spend most of my time on tumblr just like, stalking your tumblr, so I am also looking forward to the 50th anniversary. OLD WHO BLAH BLAH WHAT SLUTS THESE COMPANIONS ARE BLAH BLAH

I am glad to hear that you are doing well! Did you beat the CEO at go-karting? That's all that really matters.
Kali: dw :: amelia :: sulk_thirty2flavors on November 15th, 2013 02:06 am (UTC)
I have so few icons to choose from now! And it bugs me how it doesn't let you pick which ones to keep. Excuse u, LJ.

Well my Tumblr will keep you well stocked with wank for weeks to come as the 50th comes and goes. DID YOU READ THE SPOILERS FOR MATT'S LAST EPISODE AT CHRISTMAS? APPARENTLY HE REGENERATES "WITH SUCH FORCE IT CREATES A MUSHROOM CLOUD" AND CLARA "WATCHES FROM A SAFE DISTANCE". COULD ANYTHING POSSIBLY BE FUNNIER? I DON'T THINK SO.

I did not beat anyone at go-karting, except maybe the one guy who DNF. I am a terrible, terrible gokarter and I understand nothing. I didn't even really enjoy the actual gokarting if I'm honest, since I spent most of it in terror that I was going to die.

Also, yesterday was the screening of Richard II -- one of those ones where like, they record the live performance and broadcast it in a movie theatre -- and I think I was the youngest person in the entire theatre. The average age had to be at least 60.
Circe: superdork!redcirce on January 3rd, 2014 05:45 am (UTC)
What did you think of Richard II? Did you like it?

Also, I hope Eddie Izzard was awesome. I saw him a while ago when he was trying out material for his new show and it was pretty great.
