I will post about my trip soon probably. Also probably my questionable future and such. In the meantime, have this post:

Today I went downtown to hang out with lacunaz for like 45 minutes which was great fun. Eden marks the fourth new LJ person I've met in the last two weeks. (SORRY EDEN YOU ARE THE LATEST IN A LONG LINE.) Then I went out for coffee with Frances which turned into an entire day-long event, because clearly we haven't spent enough time together recently. (During this we did a headcount, and I've now met 20 internet people, I think. THAT IS QUITE A LOT.)

We watched some of s3 Community since she is behind, which brings me to my main point: OMG I AM SO UPSET ABOUT THE DAN HARMON THING. I CAN'T BRING MYSELF TO WATCH THE S3 FINALE EVEN THOUGH I DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED BECAUSE I AM SO CRUSHED BY THE IDEA OF IT BEING THE LAST 3 GOOD/REAL EPISODES OF COMMUNITY. UGHHHHHH. At least if NBC had cancelled it they would be the last 3 for real. Now we are going to have a fourth season that will in all likelihood be BS, and even if by some miracle it's better than I anticipate it will never feel like the "real" fourth season of Community. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Ugh I am so distressed. NBC, what have you done. I will allow this gifset to illustrate my feelings:




Ugh why do my favourite shows always die painful, new-showrunner-related deaths ugh

I knowwww, I wish now it hadn't been renewed! :( I don't want a "Veronica Mars season 3" situation where I want to repress the entire last season...

Oh well, the finale at least does feel like a real series finale (in fact it would probably have been impossible to top), so it makes it easier to pretend it really is one, if need be. You should watch it soon!

And yay for meeting internet people, obviously the best reason to travel these days...;) (It's how I've met probably 90% of the online people I've met). Hope you had a good trip!

ugh I am just so sad that this excellent show is (likely) going to face a really unceremonious death. The whole time Community has struggled with ratings and viewers and stuff I've been saying "well, at least maybe it'll get a proper send-off and have a good ending, rather than dragging on until it's terrible, like The Office". BUT I CLEARLY FAILED TO FEAR THE PROSPECT OF THE SHOWRUNNER BEING FIRED BEFORE THE SHOW IS OUT, THEREBY GIVING PLENTY OF TIME TO TARNISH THE SHOW'S MEMORY BEFORE IT DIES. Ugh.

I wanna watch the finale but I also... don't wanna watch the last episodes. D: I dunno. I'm also still feeling grumpily post-vacation so I don't want to watch the eps while I'm in a bad mood.

Dan Harmon is an ass of the highest order and I get that he was probably really frustrating to work with. But he really brought something special to the show. He gave the show it's voice and pushed the show to take risks that often paid off. The show just isn't going to be the same without him.

The good news is that the last episode of seasons 3 (WHICH YOU SHOULD REALLY WATCH) has a nice ending, so if season 4 sucks (which is likely), then we can just pretend that the season 3 finale was the series finale.

P.S. I AM AN INTERNET PEOPLE YOU HAVE NOT YET MET.

Dan Harmon sounds personally unpleasant, but he was the driving force behind a show I really loved and I don't think it will be the same without him. WHICH IS TERRIBLE, BECAUSE THE SHOW WAS PRACTICALLY PERFECT IN EVERY WAY.

There are lots of internet people I haven't met! And TBF, when I counted to 20, I was counting relatively loosely (ie people I met once for an hour or so, Frances' one TVD friend I had never spoken to online but met briefly in London, etc).

the great tragedy of our times is that you, me, and liz manage to live on the same continent and have spoken to each other for like ... oh god way more years than is acceptable (like sevenish? wow) ... and have never met.

also WATCH THE REST OF COMMUNITY dammmit it was so good. i'm fully prepared to flounce if next season sucks, and i will live in a state of ignorant bliss, like i do with veronica mars post s2 and x-files post s7.

I've met pretty few North Americans in North America actually. Hmmmmmmmm. Well, maybe not. But most of the people I've met in North America are people who already lived in my city.
