hockey is a subject you all care about deeply
I went to the game tonight! My dad's birthday is on the 13th which means playoff tickets are a great gift... if we make the playoffs.

We were down 2-0 after about seven minutes and I was ready to come home and make a sulky post about how them playing "I Am The Doctor" in the arena during warm-up was the most exciting part. (Somewhere, the BBC is super pressed!)

BUT THEN WE WOKE UP CAME BACK IN THE SECOND AND TIED IT. AND THEN I BASICALLY DID NOT BREATHE AGAIN UNTIL WE WON IN OVERTIME.

It's been a LONG time since I went to a hockey game and even longer since I went to a playoff game that we won, and in overtime !!!!!! so I am now psyched and a bit hoarse. It's possible I literally hopped up and down on the spot screaming when we won.

lol the funniest part though was having sweetcherrytree text me that the Pens were up 9-3. WHAT? LOLLLLLL. I'm super pressed that the 3 series I'm following all played on the same night. But LOL PENGUINS, WTF?

In conclusion, go Sens go.

ETA: I FEEL LIKE MANY OF YOU MAY NEED TO REFERENCE THIS POST ABOUT CANADIANS AND HOCKEY.

Compared to last season this year for the Avs was like, a miracle, so I'm not too sad overall lol. And the fact that there has been so many weird suspensions/non-suspensions this year kind of makes me feel okay to not be a part of the drama............ that said if the Avs don't make it in next year I'm probably gonna burn some houses down. Hopefully they have internet in jail.

IKR? Plus it was like 8-3 or something after the SECOND PERIOD. Whoever gets out of that series alive is going to die in the second round because I'm pretty sure most other teams ice a fairly competent defense. Lol the highest score I ever saw was 9-1 and it was a game the Avs lost last season and I got to see it in person wooooo. /sobs

Yeah the last time we were in the playoffs it was with Anderson lol. And last year we gave him to you guys for Brian Elliott who we of course did not keep and look at him now. WHYYYY (it's okay though because I like our current goalies) (but seriously ugh).

Yeah there's been a lot of drama this year. The reffing at our game was, to quote the radio, "woefully inept", where lots of shit that should've been called wasn't while really borderline stuff would get called etc, just lots of really poor decisions. Apparently it was the same refs from the Philly/Pens mess of a game the other night too. The NHL needs to get its shit together.

Omg being there for a blowout is the worst. And the game was in Philly! LOL IT MUST'VE BEEN TERRIBLE.

Brian Elliott who we of course did not keep and look at him now. WHYYYY

LOL STORY OF OTTAWA'S LIFE. So many now-stars start off in Ottawa, get traded and then win Cups for other teams. We have absolutely shit luck with goaltending in particular too, IDK. Anderson's been playing well for us now but he also was out with an injury at the end of the season because he cut himself with a knife while cooking dinner, so...

Those refs need to be fired, seriously. Things need to actually be called the first time around so there's no need for weak make-up calls. The "I didn't see it" excuse can only go so far when it's happening in literally every game you're working. And Shanahan has just flat out sucked at supplementary discipline pretty much since the preseason so... yeah this is gonna get interesting.

The saddest part is that the way that series has been going, a Philly comeback was totally within the realm of possibility even late into the third, lol. So ridiculous.

HA I remember hearing about the kitchen knife incident. Wtf. Yeah every single team the Avs have done a trade with in the last two years are in the playoffs now (except the Leafs of course trololol). You guys got Bishop this year too though and I guess he's supposed to be pretty good? I like him since he's from Denver, haha.
