Karen Gillan is great as far as I can tell. Of the new crew she is my favourite, v excitable and enthusiastic and seems friendly and stuff.

*buts in* I think them saying "not a household name" indicates that it won't be Sophia Myles, because she kind of is (way more than Matt Smith was when he got hired). However, this is not to say that I don't think she won't appear in an episode or two because I totally think that she will. I don't really have a gauge on who is or isn't a household name in the UK so I don't really know, but I'd had the impression Sophia Myles was the kind of person known to like... people on the internet but not much else.

Well, Sophia Myles was on Spooks for a series, and she had a show here in the US (Moonlight) and she pops up quite a bit in various things. She's not like David Tennant Famous but she's fairly well-known.

You know I sort of recognized the actress when I saw her, and then I IMDBed her and realized that she's been in a few things I've seen (lol at the amount of effort I've put in). I was about to say that I'd never heard of Moonlight, but I just realized that's the show with JASON DOHRING. Oh, Logan ...

Mm IDK, she's been on several UK shows (Spooks as well as DW), starred in Moonlight, and also had a role in Underworld (the first movie at least)...I mean, not a household name in the big sense, but I feel like she porbably is known pretty well in Britain...I mean when the same actors appear on all the shows over there you'd think they'd know them, right? :p

I feel like they probably mean someone nobody has heard of, like Karen Gillian was...

(Although if Sphia Myles came back as a different person besides Reinette, a la Amy, Martha, and Gwen, I wouldn't mind, since I do really like Sophia Myles, even if she suffered terrible writing in GiTF).
