tumblr it is rude to get my hopes up like that
I. Remember that issue I had with my seminar being cancelled, and how I had to email the faculty president a month later being like "umm..."? I got an email back that was literally like "I totally forgot", so lirl. But then I did receive an email later telling me I was okay to join the one seminar I had asked for. So that's sorted, I guess. TBH the seminar sounds boring as shit, but I like the prof and my friend is in that course as well sooooo that's okay I guess.

II. Turns out I actually do have Halloween plans! So this weekend I scrambled a bit to put together a costume and wound up defaulting to a generic devil costume. Huzzah. Every year I tell myself that next year I will have an awesome Halloween costume, but it's never really happened, lirl.

III. Last weekend I also went on this haunted ghost walk thing in my city, which primarily was a tour of the old jail. Apparently it is ~very haunted~, and now it is a hostel. I don't really believe in ghosts and I'm not easily scared, but I quite like ghost stories, so I thought it was a lot of fun. The jail here was apparently used until the 70s, when it was shut down for being inhumane. HAVING SEEN THE SIZE OF THE CELLS, I feel qualified to say "no shit".

IV. Hannah got me to watch the pilot for "Once Upon A Time", which was ... so-so. I think I could like it if it lightens up a bit and has more fun with its concept, but probably it'll just continue to be way more srs bsnss than it has any right to be, given that it's a show about fairytales. It's kind of like if someone made Enchanted into a serious drama, and the only thing I liked about Enchanted was the lulz at the disconnect between fairytales and the real world. In conclusion, television needs to make things that don't suck.

V. Mostly though I want to present this open letter to Tumblr:

DEAREST TUMBLR,

I understand your desire to post the same six crying gifs over and over, but there has been absolutely 0 confirmation from anyone in any official capacity that Matt Smith is leaving the show. Every single article you have linked to as "proof" hinges on the same single, ambiguous quote being interpreted by journalists who have nothing to do with the BBC or with Matt Smith's career. You do not need to rush out and get "a bucket" for your "creys" until someone actually confirms something, somewhere. Possibly consider saving your existential crisis for the day, whenever it may be, that Matt Smith actually announces his leave himself.

Also, the handful of you who are worried about the fact that there are "only two regenerations left"?

In conclusion, calm yo tits.

YOURS TRULY,
A lurker interested in saving her popcorn gifs for actual real casting drama

I guess another article came out today in which he says he has no plans to leave. IDK. I could see him leaving after whatever they do for the 50th, but not before then. I would imagine he'd want to stay for that. I think he's even said as much. I do hope the "fall of the eleventh" thing is foreshadowing for his eventual regeneration though, because if it's just another red herring THE DOCTOR DIES YOU GUYS LOL OH WAIT JK ughhhhhhhhhhh.

I would really like to get some fresh blood, to be honest. I like Matt, and if I could choose between Matt leaving and getting new companions, I'd pick new companions. I think it'd be a shame and a waste if Eleven only ever got to know the Ponds. Part of the fun for me with Ten was seeing how he reacts to losing each companion, how each relationship differs, how his relationship with one companion is influenced by his relationship with previous companions. We won't get that with Eleven if he just has the Ponds all the way through.

Oh I definitely think he's staying for series 7 (as far as I know BBC ordered a full season, 13 episodes + christmas special), it's series 8 that I'm not sure of. They keep dropping/mentioning how Matt wants to go to America to try his luck or how Moffat has ~so much work (with Sherlock, DW, and now big releases like TinTin)... so who knows, maybe they'll both leave.

I do hope the "fall of the eleventh" thing is foreshadowing for his eventual regeneration though, because if it's just another red herring THE DOCTOR DIES YOU GUYS LOL OH WAIT JK ughhhhhhhhhhh.

I expect that would be either that the Doctor regenerates into Twelve or Eleven actually STUMBLES ON SOMETHING AND FALLS TO THE GROUND FOR A WHILE. XD

Even if Matt stays - awesome - but new companions PLEASEEE! Someone/someones that have nothing to do with the Pond family. I mean, the Doctor doesn't have to suddenly forget they all existed but can't we have something new? Even Ten had Martha by now. Sure he angsted over Rose but there was also a separate storyline that had nothing to do with that.

Although I hear rumours that Karen and Arthur have actually signed for series 7. Don't know if it's true tho.

Yeah, but I guess it's a question of when s7 airs. I know it'sbeen pushed to the fall, but I assumed it'd be s7 in the fall of 2012, and then a Christmas special in December 2012, and then... something... in 2013. Whether that something is a series of specials or s8, I dunno, but I'd expect Matt to be involved.

Yep. This is the longest we've had the same TARDIS team in New Who, by far. Nine/Rose, Ten/Rose, Ten/Martha, Ten/Donna, Ten/Angst -- we've never had the same team for two consecutive seasons, let alone three, and I think it's getting stale. The nice thing about the show is that when you don't like a character or actor or showrunner you can usually wait them out. But we're heading into the third season of Eleven, Amy, River and Rory and even though I like them I'm getting bored. Amy and Rory and River will all be in s7, though I don't think they've confirmed if it's a full-time thing or a cameo thing. Karen Gillan has, however, said she's not very interested in doing cameos after Amy leaves, so I guess it's fulltime. UGH GO DO OTHER PROJECTS lol

It doesn't even feel like there's a difference between seasons 5 and 6 - just one really long (convoluted, weird) season with a lot of hiatuses.
Kali: dw :: rose :: her name was_thirty2flavors on October 27th, 2011 05:46 pm (UTC)
Totally. Questions from s5 still haven't been answered, though I suspect they never will be.

LOL yeah, The Tardis exploded because of.... reasons. :|

But that's ok - not like it was the most important part of the whole season or anything.

Remember that time River was devastated to see the Doctor die in TIA even though she was already serving time for his murder and therefore had to know that she'd already killed him and could easily have then made the assumption that she was witnessing that, even if she didn't remember killing him (in which case, you think she'd argue against her incarceration WHICH already seems thoroughly unjust since the case can be made that the suit killed him, not River?)

anna_sg1: dw - ten in specsanna_sg1 on October 27th, 2011 06:29 pm (UTC)
Nonsense, don't bring your ~logic into this.

RIVER HAD TO BE IN JAIL FOR GOD KNOWS HOW MANY YEARS BECAUSE OF.... REASONS AGAIN, OKAY? It was the ~only way EVERYONE and their grandmother will believe the Doctor is dead. The only way. Plus she can get out any time and that makes perfectly OKAY.

Never mind his other regenerations are running around all the time through all the space. -.-

According to what we've seen so far it's not really hard, it's impossible to write about.

And LOL I love how River's complete lack of reaction in that two-parter is just waved-away with 'River lies'. Oh, show.

RIVER HAS THE WORST SPACE LAWYER EVER

WHO EVEN CONVICTED HER? THEY WERE ALONE AT THE LAKE EXCEPT FOR THE PONDS.

WHAT EVEN.

lol ikr. RIVER LIES. SO DOES THE DOCTOR. SO DOES MOFFAT. DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING WE SAY EVER, OR ASSUME THAT YOU CAN HOLD US TO IT.
anna_sg1: dw eleven & the tardisanna_sg1 on October 27th, 2011 07:47 pm (UTC)
Never mind convicted, WHO ARRESTED HER? AND HOW DID THEY KNOW WHERE TO GO? How long did she wait for the space cops to arrive, still at the bottom of the lake. LOL I can already see the exepatch lady making an annonymus phone-call to ... time police? IDK who would even have jurisdiction in this case.

And yeah, you'd think the future!CSI teams would be able to establish that she was in fact trapped in that suit.

SHE PROBABLY GOT THE PRO BONO LAWYER BECAUSE THE DOCTOR WOULDN'T PAY FOR THE GOOD ONE.

Exactly! What happened to 'Trust me, I'd the Doctor.'?

LOL EYEPATCH LADY CALLS THE SHADOW PROCLAMATION

I rewatched SITL and there's that exchange between Ten and Donna where he's like "it's okay we're safe" and she's like "why?" and he's like "we're not, it was a clever lie to shut you up" (bolded for MOFFATY EMPHASIS) and I was like MOFFATEN I WILL KNEE YOU IN THE GROIN.
anna_sg1: dw - future amyanna_sg1 on October 27th, 2011 09:42 pm (UTC)
LOLOL and the rhino cops get a crane and eveything and pull River out of the lake. :D :D

I ALWAYS CRINGE SO HARD AT THAT SCENE! D: Normal!Ten would never talk to Donna like that, I wish she DID knee Moffaten in the groin actually. ~Clever lie~ LOL
