i hear the nbc comedies are reruns tonight too. rude.
I. My alarm did not go off this morning. More specifically, my alarm did not go off because I set it wrong. That is the hazard of having to set your alarm for a different time every day, I guess. So I woke up at 7:45 with class (and a quiz) at 8:30. I live, like, 50ish minutes form campus. HA HA, no. I got to class with 15 minutes left to write the stupid test. Luckily (?) this didn't matter because I had no idea what any of the material was about anyway so GO TEAM RANDOMLY CIRCLING ANSWERS. For real, it was a quiz on the article we had to read for class and the article might have well been written in French for all that I took from it. That in addition to the midterm I had on Monday for which I evidently studied the wrong things, I have basically reached this point:

II. Hey, remember that time they cancelled my seminar and I went to talk to the Faculty and its president and they were all "yeah we'll get on that and let you know"? As far as I can tell they did neither of the above. So I just sent another email being like "um???" Omg just let me into one of your boring seminars so I can graduate and have an existential crisis.

III. If those first two paragraph did not give it away, I am so done with school rn. I had midterms and stuff this week and ugh, so over it tbh. BUT after today I have a week off? Because we get a week off in the fall now ever since... a student... committed suicide a couple years ago. Errrrrr. But a fall break will be nice, even if I have nothing planned and most people I am friends with don't go to my university and do not have a week off. I will probably just sit at home and watch Community and Misfits because that is how cool I am.

IV. On a similar note, Halloween is in eleven days and I have no costume planned or plans... planned. My one friend has hosted a Halloween party every year since we were like 14, but last year's ended in vomit and disaster so she is understandably reluctant. (Though, like, protip? We're all adults, we've all been drinking legally for years, have you considered NOT DRINKING SO MUCH YOU PASS OUT IN YOUR OWN VOMIT? Ugh.) One of my friends suggested "going out" but omg the only thing that appeals less to me than clubbing is clubbing surrounded by ninety Sexy Witches, Sexy Nurses and Sexy Vampires while I am dressed as a pumpkin or whatever the fuck. ...So that is the sad state of my social life rn. lol the other day my mom asked me if I talk to any of my friends anymore. THANKS, MOM.

IV. HAHA this entry turned so bitchy, that was not my intention. I'm just killing time before class at 2:30. Here is a fic rec:

Amy Pond and the Year That Never Was by snowdarkred
~2,700 words, PG-13, Amy, Rory, Martha
She keeps thinking that the Doctor will save her, he will, her raggedy Doctor, but he doesn’t. It’s just Amy and the cold sky, all alone as the human race suffers in the distance.

Does what it says on the tin, basically. I've wondered for a while about Amy in the Year That Wasn't, though admittedly I've mostly just used the opportunity to lol. But this was a good serious take on it, and I like the way the author plays with Amy Pond's magical ability to remember things other people can't.

V. Lastly, I see on the interwebs that according to DWM (lol @ them reporting on this) Much Ado About Nothing will be available on DVD for Christmas? IDK how reputable the source is but that is exciting if true. IT'S MY BIRTHDAY GIFT TO ME.

Bonus points if you read that in the correct Disney character's voice, btw.

The only good thing about The Office being a repeat tonight is that I can get some GRE test prep done.

Also, OMG A FIC WHERE MARTHA AND AMY ARE BFFS!!!! MY TWO FAVE COMPANIONS ARE BEING AWESOME AND SHIT! Needless to say, I APPROVE.

I haven't watched The Office this season, but I'm down to just Parks & Rec, Community and Modern Family as weekly shows, so not having Parks & Rec or Community means... just Modern Family. Oh well. Misfits starts soon at least lol. HERE'S HOPING IT DOESN'T SUCK.

I know! And Amy got to be awesome without overshadowing Martha's awesome! That's one thing that makes me wary of other-companions-in-that-time fic.

The Office hasn't been that bad considering there's no Steve Carell and Supertemp didn't replace him.

I'm definitely bookmarking that fic. It's one of the best Year That Never Was fics I've seen in a while.

Was that the dramacouch party? With Mark being a winner et al?

I don't understand university administration; it's like they are paid to hate students and make our lives hell. Like the program I'm in rn? It's theoretically ~the best program of its kind you will all get jobs~ but nobody gives a fuck about us and the Library Department keeps changing credit timeframes and then being like OH RIGHT SORRY YOU EXIST WE FORGOT ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU DON'T MATTER TO US XD. Like literally my prof was talking about curriculum changes and I was like UUUH HOW DOES THAT APPLY TO HILS STUDENTS and he was like LOL YOU DIDN'T EVEN OCCUR TO US, SRY. And the rest of the class was like :O

I think you need to start getting bitchy with those people. I've learned that they respond to aggression.

I am sorry about social life and stuff, bb. I have weeks like that too where I am just like I HAVE NO FRIENDS NOBODY UNDERSTANDS ME I MAY AS WELL JUST STARE AT THE WALL AND WATCH MY OFFICE DVDS AND THINK ABOUT HOW NOBODY WILL EVER LOVE ME. And tbh, I would rather cut off my own head and use it as a punch bowl than go clubbing on Halloween (lol do you think there will be sexy aids nurses?)

LOL NO he was not invited. It was just everyone getting drunk off their face including the host. It was basically us + her friends from school and all her friends from school got shitfaced while the rest of us were like "OH LAWD".

LOL YOU DIDN'T EVEN OCCUR TO US, SRY.

GREAT THAT IS SUPER HELPFUL, THANKS.

I will see how they reply after this email I sent being like "UM????"

I'm not like super emo about it, at least not at the moment, but it does make life pretty dull and I always feel quite pathetic when I spend a weekend reading lj and getting angry at Tumblr or whatever instead of going out and interacting with real people.

LOL IKR OMG CLUBBING AT HALLOWEEN, HAHAHAHAHA no.
Lizbazcat89 on October 20th, 2011 06:10 pm (UTC)
I'll bet they totally forgot about your existence after you left and are gonna be like "We're sorry for the confusion, but unfortunately we are not authorized to let students into filled courses. may we suggest that you sign up for a course happening after your intended date of graduation?"

Ugh it is the worst when you are alone with the internet and all you do is get mad, type ranty lj posts, and then delete them. Fuck those days, man.

ALSO. That fic was A+

You have an iphone, right? Could you set up a bunch of different alarms at different times so they go off every week?

And lol clubbing is the worst.

AND I HOPE THAT NEWS IS TRUE. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

ALL of NBC's Thursday night comedies are re-runs? BOOOOO. I knew Community was a rerun, but didn't know about the others.

My friends and I have had an annual Halloween party since we were in junior high, but it's never on Halloween (it's on the 29th this year), so I have Halloween-adjacent plans but no actual Halloween plans. And I haaaate dressing up in costume, so I have no idea what I'm going to do on that front either.

at first I was like "is this person a legit butthurt Vernon stan what is happening"

but I see in the comments it is a Snape stan

o f c

YOU ARE THE SICKEST PERSON I HAVE EVER KNOWN

James was a cheat who broke off Snape's friendshiop with Lily by constantly telling her and brainwashing her about EVIL Slytherins and I think he was along with Sirius, instrumental in giving a wrong picture of the werewolf incident, which led to Lily falling for James and eventually breaking away from Snape. I just hope Lily felt the sepration as much as Snape did. While I have no canon, I am sure she did.

this is amazing omg

I. OMG! I had nearly the EXACT SAME MORNING! I managed to completely forget to set my alarms last night and I had work lined up this morning at a school that was new to my agency so they were counting on me to really represent them and such. I'd been planning to catch the 7:30 train and make a really good impression by arriving early and all that.

And then I woke up at 7:45. And I freaked! I basically jumped out of bet, threw on clothing, grabbed my bad and ran out the door. I didn't even brush my hair. And then I RAN to the overground station. I made the 8:00 train like JUST. I was insanely lucky and there was a bus almost right away after the train so I didn't have to waste time waiting and by some miracle I made it to the school by 8:25 (at which point I was left waiting outside the office for 20 minutes before someone took me to the classroom I was in - I was not impressed with the competence of this school's office staff - everyone else was super nice though so that's good). Anyway it turned out fine and I totally wowed them with my on the spot lesson planning and management skills and basically 3 people complimented me in person today so I think that makes up for the almost lateness however it is NOT A FUN WAY TO START THE DAY! Ugh for your exam though. I hope it turns out okay. It sounds like you really are ready to be done!

III. I have next week off also! (It's half term here) And I'm broke so I won't be going much of anywhere (I'm planning to do lots of writing though) We should totally arrange a skype date on one of those days when we're both off. It would be epic and awesome and we can flail about the possible release of MAAN. (WANT RIGHT NOW)

IV. You are the second person on my list to rec this. I may have to read it. But not tonight. Just spent two hours reading an AMAZING River/Eleven NOIR fic of awesome. It's incredible and everyone should read it. (it's AU but it takes the good bits of S6 and uses them 2000000 x better than Moffat did) It also has a lot of awesome River/Eleven moments that I can support! Link in case you're curious: http://humansrsuperior.livejournal.com/197894.html

V. LOL clearly I should have read this post before I sent that email. You will all probably now mock me for my over-excitement. But hey, even if it is only DWM it's in print and that's a step up from just hearsay so I'm allowing myself to get excited about it now.
Kali: dw :: doctordonna :: flapper_thirty2flavors on October 21st, 2011 05:23 pm (UTC)
Omg that sounds horrific. LOL DID YOU HAVE TO RUN UP ANY LONG ESCALATORS IN TUBE STOPS? That is the worst. It is a really stressful start to the day.

We should! I'll email you. I don't really have any plans this week yet lolll so I'm probably mostly around.

I've seen that fic around! I used to read her Doctor/Rose fic lol. I am not much into Eleven/River or AUs usually, though I guess an AU of Eleven/River probably wouldn't have half the things that bug me about how they played out.

YES, PRINT IS TOTALLY EXCITING
lorelaisquared: Squee: DT Finger Licklorelaisquared on October 22nd, 2011 05:48 pm (UTC)
It was pretty terrible. VERY STRESSFUL!! And running while you have a cold with a cough (when it's close to freezing out) is THE WORST EVER! No, luckily I was taking the overground and a bus so there was a staircase to run up but it was wide and not nearly as horrible as an escalator.

Yes! Email me! I'm always delighted to get email that isn't adverts or lj notifications! :) I have no clear plans either beyond writing lots of fic (one of which involves Donna with her VERY OWN TARDIS!!) Shhhhhhhhh.

I'm not big on AU's myself but this one really works well. The setting is perfect and I pretty much like everything about this fic about 10x more than I liked S6 so I think it wouldn't bother you. Actually, if anything, it made me appreciate Eleven/River more because it's like she's taken the best aspects of the show, thrown away the crap, and made everything make more sense. It's really rather delightful.

THINK OF ALL THE GIFS WE CAN HAVE!!!!!

Don't forget Forbidden Planet!

I haven't been to Doctor Who Experience this year, but I went back in RTD's era, and it was pretty awesome.
Austin: dream teamjohnmayergirl23 on October 21st, 2011 12:39 am (UTC)
We have a Forbidden Planet in Edinburgh and the DW stuff wasn't what we wanted. I want a sweet-ass TARDIS keychain or something, not a Matt Smith action figure.

UGH we want to go..ish but we don't really care as much about Moffat-era, and it's like twenty quid, so we are a little hesitant.
Kali: dw :: ten :: i don't want to go_thirty2flavors on October 21st, 2011 03:33 am (UTC)
I totally got a TARDIS keychain at the random Doctor Who store in London, but it was way the f out of central London.

Oh, and as someone who cared... not a lot about Moffat Who when she went (lolol WE'D JUST SEEN LKH, SO DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS) it was pretty fun. The Experience part is really campy but sort of tongue-in-cheek and they make reference to how shit the plot is which made me LOL. The exhibit afterwards has lots of RTD-era stuff, including TEN'S TARDIS :O :O :O complete with Ten regenerating on screen in the background on loop LOLOLOL. It was fun, but IDK what your budget looks like. There's a promo code you can use if you buy the tickets online. I don't remember what it was -- something basic like "TUBE" -- but I can try and find out if you like. It saves you a couple pounds, idk.

Having said that, the people who would get the most out of it are definitely Moffat-era stans from Tumblr. Even more than the children, lol. I'm pretty sure if it had been RTD-era themed and Ten had been telling me to fly the TARDIS I'd've been delighted forever and ever.

We might stop there, but we found another store online that might work?

We are very split. Because we definitely want PICTURES IN THE TARDIS HOLY SHIT but on the other hand ehhhhh twenty pounds ehhhhh. Plus we're only in London for two days, so we have a billion things to do. LOL THAT REMINDS ME i have a very lulzy doctor who-related scottish tale, but i'll stick it in the entry i'm writing rather than in this comment. it is possibly my favorite thing ever

I went to it with starlightmoonla and shinyopals and it was fun to poke around, but it was in like Zone 3 or something so I couldn't even get there without paying extra on my Oyster card etc. Just saying. If you're only there for 2 days it might not be worth it since I'm sure you could find all that stuff online.

I AM EXCITE.

DW Experience was kind of fun. The Experience part was very campy and obviously aimed at kids, but it had a moment I found hilarious and it was kind of cute regardless. The exhibit bit was neat. I MEAN, I got to do a dramatic ~I'M HERE~ photo with the Face of Boe. It's not cheap, but there was a promo we found on the Tube. UMMM... I don't remember the promo code though lol but I can probably find it.

I also went to the Doctor Who store -- I don't really know if it has an official name other than that, but it's not a BBC-run thing I don't think. It's way out of central London though.

I think that might actually be it? Doctor Faustus finished its run and the rest was stuff like Much Ado and loling at Fright Night. When are you going?
Christy Corr: (y)christycorr on October 21st, 2011 04:10 am (UTC)
All right, noted. I didn't even know this DW store existed. Huh.

January!
Kali_thirty2flavors on October 21st, 2011 04:12 am (UTC)
I can find the exact address if you want. They have a wider range of era stuff than Forbidden Planet. Most of the new merch, obviously, but also RTD-era and Classic stuff. I can get the address if you like. For some STRANGE REASON there's an ad in the Much Ado program, lol.

Exciting! I am jealous, I wanna go back. I forget, weren't you flying into Ireland or Scotland?

THIS ENTRY MAKES ME SAD. But i feel you on all counts.

Halloween ugh. I love it so much but I am always disappointed. Brynn and I are doing X-Men Halloween, so we're dressing up as Rogue and Wolverine on Halloween, meaning that she is just Wolverine and I am Rogue dressed as Velma from Scooby Doo because Rogue would dress up but Wolverine would be like fuck that. (Realistically, I'm just Velma and she's Wolverine, but I might wear gloves because we wanted our costumes to go together)

FUCK YOU NBC. I CRAVE P&R MORE THAN ANYTHING

I look forward to that fic.

Also I recognize that quote but suspect it's from Emperor's New Groove which is not my fave so eh.
Manda (formerly known as springhaze23): DW donna awkward smilemandamanda on October 21st, 2011 01:51 am (UTC)
I hate mornings like that! I remember one time when I had lab that I could not miss and I woke up at 8:20 for an 8:30 lab. I basically changed into jeans, slapped on deodorant, and RAN. And of course I had to run up 8 flights of stairs, too.

Keep in mind that soon all of this bs will be OVER (and then you will be like me and be like OH HAI COLLEGE TAKE ME BACK).

I am always so ambivalent about Halloween. Everyone I know is either 1) doing something with friends that I don't know or 2) not doing anything, and I think I don't care, but then it turns out on Halloween I'm like OH I WANT TO DO THINGS. Going out is usually disastrous because everything is crowded, especially in New York, because people who normally do not go out in the city and therefore do not know how things work are there and it is more frustrating than it's worth. Writing this has strengthened my resolve to stay home. STAYING HOME IS COOL.

I hope Much Ado comes out on DVD so I can watch it 2304983 times.
