6x03 the curse of the black pearl. i mean, spot.

I watched this with my friend Olivia as it aired on tv :O :O :O, which was fun but also meant I missed a few lines and explanation things here or there. My overall impression is that I liked it, and man did it feel nice to have a simple, contained, linear, easily-understandable plotline with a ridiculous explanation (lol computer nurse). It even made sense enough that I was able to figure out the "she's trying to heal them" bit before the text explained it, which suggests that there was actually a logical pattern. I'm not sure what was going on with the universe-inside-a-universe thing, but ...okay. Actually, that might be relevant again later, since Amy seems to be both pregnant and not pregnant and maybe it is a universe-collision thing.

So... pirates! I am glad we got an explanation for how Amy could hold her own in a swordfight -- no one else used swords! And everyone was afraid of cutting her! Makes sense. Ish. Rory's initial response to the Siren was hilarious lololol. I thought it was pretty funny when Amy stepped forward to Defend Her Man, and the Siren blew her backwards, and then everyone took a while helping Amy to her feet even though Rory was in more immediate danger since he was about to explode into dust.

I was less impressed with "OH NO RORY'S DEAD" because goddamn how many times can that boy die. Also my friend kept making jokes that made it hard to stay srs. Karen Gillan's distraught acting is getting better though, good job Karen. She seemed more legit distraught here to me than she did when Eleven "died" in episode 1, and I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. I'm okay with this because Rory is the bomb and Eleven has been sort of meh to me lately.

WTF eyepatch lady. I'm choosing to ignore this and the pregnancy thing rn since I know answers aren't forthcoming.

Um, I think that is it. I am curious for 6x04 and am going to try to avoid spoilers for it but that always proves more difficult than I anticipate. OOD. OLD TARDIS. TIME LORDS??

Afterwards Olivia and I waxed poetic about Ten and how flawless he was for like 45 minutes, so that was fun. I've been thinking I want to do a rewatch, since I haven't actually seen most of those episodes in a long time, but I am also thinking I should wait, or s6a will look so sad in comparison, lol.

I feel like the only person on the internet who liked it! It might be because watching with Olivia is fun though, same thing happened with Beast Below last year. I liked Amy and Rory and the Amy/Rory, and I was alright wtih Eleven (a rarity lately) so that was all well and good. The plot was totally cracky and illogical, but that has never bothered me before and didn't bother me now lirl.

Rory's fake dying is so ridiculous. Everyone needs to stop fake dying. It isn't interesting, it's stupid.

LOL it was awesome. I always feel validated when people in the real world share my opinions on this stuff.

Maybe I had too high expectations of this ep, such that the cracky didn't work for me this time. Usual I can handle the crack and just find it amusing. :D :D :D :D

My expectations for this episode were very low, so maybe that's why I enjoyed it. I'm not into pirates and I didnt' like Thompson's Sherlock episode much, so I had pretty low expectations.

NO ONE'S DYIGN IN EPISODE 3. MOVING ON.
