a poll and a... post... rec
shinyopals wrote up a pretty great post about consent and the need for warnings in fanfiction (with particular attention to tropes in Doctor Who fic and probably sci-fi in general) that you should all go read. Given the subject matter, there's some potentially triggery stuff in the post related to sexual assault, rape, and consent in general.

In slightly more light-hearted fare, I did this poll over a year ago and now am curious to see how the results have shifted, so... POLL 2.0!

Poll #1633561

I have been known to refer to that character from Journey's End as...

Is this just a poll so that Frances and Kali can feel smug about how many people have started using "Cloen"?

I always read Roman numerals as just straight numbers, so Ten2/Ten II/TenToo are all homophones in my head, and I've always used Ten2 for SRS THINGS like fic headers because I'm a bit too lazy to type out "Ten II" apparently, but I appreciate how classy~ it looks.

Actually it started because I had seen someone make the typo (?I assume it was a typo, they kept saying "cloen doctor") like three times in one comment, aaand I was talking about this to goldy_dollar, and since it was around the time there was all that wank about "Handy" (and also because saying Ten2/any variation thereof sucks in actual speech) we were like "LOL LOL WE SHOULD JUST START CALLING HIM CLOEN LOL". .....And then we did. .....and it stayed forever.

That's not a very good story though so FEEL FREE TO FILL IN A LONG ILLUSTRIOUS HISTORY.

I'm the same way with the homophones.

LOL @ classy. XD I just got fed up with all the variations and having to type out "Duplicate Doctor" was just waaaay too much.(Teaspoon dubbed him with that monstrosity) I came up with Ten II from the context of Romana II.

YOUR STORY IS WAY BETTER THAN MINE. MINE IS ALL BORING AND SENSIBLE.
