Day 24 – Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

This video seems appropriate for the following questions:

Day 25 – Favourite Who Actor

Do you even go here?

Day 26 – Favourite Who Actress

Okay this one is actually a bit more challenging, because I feel like I have relatively equal amounts of love for all of them, and yet I have not actually gone to great lengths to see any of them in other things so no one really wins by default.

Billie Piper & Catherine Tate

I was really committed to finding a picture of them together okay.

I think I am probably equally fond of both of them in different ways. Billie Piper is gorgeous, but Catherine Tate gets props for being a successful female comedian. I have a huge girl crush on Billie Piper, but I want to be Catherine Tate. One day I plan to watch Secret Diary for Billie, but I might even watch that Gulliver's Travels movie for Catherine.

And I consider both of them to be good actresses -- Billie can cry like nobody's business, but then Catherine is the only one who's made me cry.

So uh... tie!

Don't worry Freema ilu2. Once I watched an entire half hour of Law and Order: UK just for you! AND YOU NEVER SHOWED UP. >(

And having said all this, I do feel I ought to give credit to Karen Gillan and Matt Smith for being probably 60% of the reason I liked series 5 as much as I did. It's not even that I think they're fabulous actors (although I don't think they're terrible either); they're just so enthusiastic and sweet and seem to be having a blast, which endears them to me a lot. I wish I liked Amy Pond as much as I like Karen. If the idea of hearing Moffat speak didn't horrify me so much I might even have considered watching the Confidentials.

In conclusion, I LOVE EVERYONE. I would gladly watch movies with any of these people.

Maybe even you, John Barrowman.

Maybe even you, John Barrowman.

Shark Attack 3 looks well worth watching.

In fact, Frances should get it and we should watch it this summer.
Kali_thirty2flavors on August 6th, 2010 04:19 am (UTC)
I actually meant "wach movies" as in "I would eat popcorn with Catherine Tate while I made her watch Star Wars for the first time", but YES I WOULD TOTALLY WATCH SHARK ATTACK 3 OMG

YOU NEED TO BE MORE SPECIFIC WHEN YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT ACTORS, BB.

BUT I NEED TO SEE THAT MOVIE SO MUCH. IT LOOKS GLORIOUS. DO YOU THINK WE WOULD NEED TO WATCH SHARK ATTACKS ONE AND TWO FIRST FOR ~CONTINUITY~?
Kali_thirty2flavors on August 6th, 2010 04:37 am (UTC)
I am sure there's a really deep plot carry-over from Shark Attack 2 that we would be missing out on!

Although I guess I would probably watch movies with most of them in it too.

Except Eccleston, apparently. Sorry Eccleston.

LOL

I actually watched an old tragic play with Eccleston and it was pretty good. He's a good actor. But I would not watch anything for him.

Well when I got into movies for free Frances and I talked about seeing G I Joe for ages, but when it came down to it we decided Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs was more appealing. I regret nothing, but I would not be surprised if we both paid full price to go see Fright Night when it comes out so IDK what that says about us.

Poor Eccleston. I respect him as an actor and stuff, but he seems very um, serious and such, with his flouncing and all, which does nothing to endear him to me.
Opal: TSoD: Saxon thumbs up!shinyopals on August 6th, 2010 04:27 am (UTC)
I will totally watch Fright Night. And half the reason I wanted to see St Trinian's 2 was for Tennant. Fortunately, that one was definitely worth every penny and the non-Tennant-fan friend I'd talked into going with me for the quality of the film was not disappointed.

*Pets CE* I do not know many CE fans who paid to see GI Joe.
Kali: eng :: what a piece of work_thirty2flavors on August 6th, 2010 04:30 am (UTC)
I did not see that one! That is okay, I like knowing there are things he has been in that I have not watched because it makes me feel less creepy.

BUT WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO PAY. WE COULD'VE JUST... GONE. lol Eccleston.

I mean G I Joe looked awful though, to be fair, it wasn't just him.
Opal: TIP: heh shiny!shinyopals on August 6th, 2010 04:32 am (UTC)
I would actually recommend St T's 2 for non-Tennant related reasons. Well, I think I would - it might be some of the jokes and stuff are very English and not-English people wouldn't get it very well. St Trinian's is like... a UK institution.
Kali_thirty2flavors on August 6th, 2010 04:34 am (UTC)
Yes I have never heard of it outside the realm of things-I-have-heard-people-mention-because-of-David-Tennant.
Opal: TPotW: *kiss*shinyopals on August 6th, 2010 04:42 am (UTC)
St Trinian's is an all girls boarding school, and I think it started out as a comic. Basically it was a bit of a caricature of UK private boarding schools with the girls doing things like causing explosions. The really-short-skirt schoolgirl costume sort of originated/became popular (in the UK at least) due to St T's. Having been to a UK boarding school, it's... closer to reality than most people expect. The movies basically involve things like the girls hunting for treasure to get it before the baddies. I've not got a clue what it's like for people who are not familiar with the culture, but I rather enjoyed both films.
Kali: to :: group shot_thirty2flavors on August 6th, 2010 04:54 am (UTC)
I SEE. Yeah I was previously unaware of its existence. AMAZINGLY, IT TURNS OUT NOT EVERY ASPECT OF BRITISH CULTURE CAN BE LEARNED THROUGH HARRY POTTER AND DOCTOR WHO. This was quite a shock when I first discovered it.
Opal: PiC: Adipose in sinkshinyopals on August 6th, 2010 05:05 am (UTC)
WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE?

St T's is like... if 50% of Hogwarts was Fred and George.

THIS COMMENT THREAD IS JUST LIKE TURN LEFT BUT WITH LESS PEOPLE DYING.

LOL. I OFTEN THINK IF I PUT AS MUCH EFFORT INTO MY STUDYING AS I DO FANDOM, I WOULD HAVE A PHD AND HAVE ACTUALLY INVENTED A TIME MACHINE BY NOW. POSSIBLY THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE DESTRUCTION OF THE UNIVERSE, SO MAYBE MY INTEREST IN DOCTOR WHO HAS SAVED US ALL.

Or, yeah, I would be into BSG or something. Or Lost. Lost could have worked.

Kali: dw :: ten/rose :: domestics_thirty2flavors on August 6th, 2010 05:52 am (UTC)
I THINK I WOULD HAVE TO MINOR IN IT BECAUSE I WOULD NOT WANT TO STUDY THE CLASSICS.

BUT I KNOW THE WHOLE HARRY POTTER UNIVERSE PRETTY WELL SO THAT COULD BE MY MAIN FOCUS.

AND THEN I COULD IDK GIVE PRETENTIOUS LECTURES AT CONS.

I would have if I could have afforded it. I actually squealed in the theater when I went to see Star Trek "Nine!" when the trailer for GI Joe aired.
Kali_thirty2flavors on August 6th, 2010 04:51 am (UTC)
LOL I SAW STAR TREK WITH FRANCES AND WE SAW IT AND SHE WAS LIKE "......IS THAT CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON?" "....I THINK IT WAS! :O"

I'd already known about CE playing Destro in GI Joe, but I hadn't realized the trailer would be in Star Trek, and was unable to contain my squee, which was later compounded when Nimoy first showed up on camera.

Billie and Catherine seem to be looking at the gif of David. Catherine looks like she's enjoying it while Billie has this look of "Has he lost his mind?"

LOL WHAT MAKES THAT BETTER IS I ALMOST USED THIS PICTURE:
juliet316: DW: DonnaRoryRosejuliet316 on August 6th, 2010 04:53 am (UTC)
In that one they both look like they don't know what to make if it. Billie's verging on "He has lost his ever loving mind."
Kali_thirty2flavors on August 6th, 2010 04:55 am (UTC)
I've seen the interview this is from and I'm pretty sure they're making "oh lord" faces at someone's Four impression. I especially like the one where they're smiling because Billie is pretty clearly like "not funny, abort mission".

Pretty much.
fauxkarenfauxkaren on August 6th, 2010 06:10 am (UTC)
Secret Diary of a Call Girl is a lot of fun! You should give it a shot one of these days.

And re; Confidential in series 5, I feel the same way. In the gifs I've seen, Matt and Karen seem adorable, and I want to fuel my crush on Arthur Darvill, but I really don't want to sit through the Moff talking.
