waters of mars!
I almost DIED trying to get out to goldy_dollar's, just as a matter of interest.

Ahem.
I will probably do some kind of long-winded bantering quasi-intellectual meta on why I think it is ballsy and honest and awesome for RTD to show Ten completely cracking.

But that will have to come tomorrow or something when I have more time, so get ready for CAPSLOCKY REACTION POST OF INTERNET-YELLING.

Back when I watched Torchwood: Children of Earth with Frances, I remember our reactions being basically like this:

goldy_dollar: Wow, that was really dark and depressing.
Me: That was awesome.

Basically the reaction to Waters of Mars was like:
goldy_dollar: Wow, that was really dark and depressing.
Me: THAT WAS AWESOME

Adelaide was awesome, the story structure was awesome, sonic-segwaying on Wall-E was hilarious, Pompeii shoutout was awesome, angsty speeches of angst were awesome, Ten totally losing his shit and going all I AM TIME LORD VICTORIOUS THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAA was awesome, and unexpected Ood was unexpected.

And then on the bus ride home, lacunaz texted me and we had this conversation:
lacunaz: I just watched dw. Ten is head douche of doucheville in the county of great douche.
Me: OMFG I LOVE IT. HE SO CRAZY.
lacunaz: WHAT WOULD DONNA SAY, DOCTOR. THIS IS WHY YOU NEED ADULT SUPERVISION.
Me: YOU KNOW YOU NEED A THERAPIST WHEN YOU START HALLUCINATING OOD.

As for the trailer, there wasn't much I think we hadn't already seen in the shakey cam-version of the ComiCon one. BUT AHHH. DO WANT. DONNA. COME BACK TO ME MY LOVE. AND SKELETON MASTER LOL.

In conclusion:

WELL PLAYED, RTD. I EAGERLY AWAIT MORE EMOTIONAL BATTERING AT CHRISTMASTIME.

I thought his reaction to Adelaide's death was really because he knows he's gone too far, he even says it, but by the end of the episode I didn't feel like he was back in control. And saving her causes her death regardless -- just like he says, whatever he does, he makes it happen.

but by the end of the episode I didn't feel like he was back in control.
that yeah, I think he just realised that he's not that Victorious after all. But his firm "No." in the end says he won't give up his life easily. Ooh, I'm so excited.

I read his "no" as sort of a response to both those things -- he could give up and die, and maybe even he should, but he won't. I aslo saw it as a refusal to accept that he isn't as all-powerful as he wants to believe.

Well, maybe...

I've just rewatched last 15 minutes and yeah, he's definitely in need of serious therapy XD It's just in the trailer he doesn't look all that insane to me, he looks his normal abnormal self XD
