It's 1:54am and I felt like recaping these first two weeks of June. I guess the urge comes from the fact that today, June 15, is my last day of freedom before the new adventure that is law school.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not afraid. I'm excited really. But even then, I'm still anxious. I've been dreaming about this for the past so many years ever since 3rd grade. Now that it's here... it's here. haha.
But back to topic:
June 3 - rainy birthdayI woke up early that morning to the wind howling and the rain pouring. What a wake-up call, eh? I looked to my phone and found only two messages. One from Krys and the other from Erik. For some reason, I just didn't really feel the birthday vibes.
Well, that was until I got up again a few hours later to constant greetings every few minutes. My facebook was flooded with greetings and shout-outs were on plurk. Let's just say I really felt the love and I'm so thankful to all of you for making me happy on my birthday.
Sure it was spent at home but the stream of greetings kept me company the whole day while I wrote and facebooked the hours away. Couldn't really do much since the rain was coming down hard but I could, at least, not let it drain my spirits.
So yeah, compared to last year, my birthday this year was a calm and peaceful one.
June 4 - semi-served at RVCI paid for my tuition that morning and then chose to hangout with SE-RVC. I was supposed to serve but due to technical problems and the power going out, most of us just ended up bonding at SE106. haha.
I missed you, Pakaye! I'm super glad you're back!X) Si CJ, sobrang sabaw minsan. hahaha. Luv' you, Ceej.XP Go TF ROTF!XD
June 5 - law freshie orientation and a belated, birthday semi-celebrationInitially I wasn't so excited about this day. The schedule was from 8-5 and I had expected exactly what would happen. Talk, more talk, even more talk, did I mention talk(?) and then an afternoon session with the block handlers (Go, A2012!).
I however had not anticipated just how much awesome law would be. Sure Dean Leonen doesn't have the same commanding voice as Dean Fab or Dean De Dios but he has the same commanding intellect. I'm actually excited to have him as my prof for Consti 2 next sem.
We were also given the honor of listening to three different speakers of, amusingly, three different stereotypes. We had the traditional nun lawyer (studied her life away in lawschool), the crazy loud woman lawyer (love you, ma'am rhoey! Moot court ftw!), and Reese Witherspoon from Legally Blonde (jeezus woman, you make getting Magna in law seem so easy). Srsly, I forget her name right now, but she was everything Legally Blonde from the way she talked to the way she dressed to her college stories to the fact that she graduated Magna Cum Laude and is already working as an associate at Puno&Puno. Wuh.
Note, to drive the amazing-ness of her Magna:
The number of Magna Cum Laudes since 1911 (the founding of UP Law): 4
The number of Summa Cum Laudes since 1911: NONE
Shiz yo.
Another highlight of the morning: the beginning of what seems like a good 4-year-long partnership with Migs Tirona. A geek after my own heart. God Ginrai, pare! haha.
We're never sitting beside each other in class. EVER. We'd probably just end up getting shouted at by the profs. haha. So we've agreed to maintain the craziness outside of class and be the nerds that we are within the quarters of our classroom.X)
The afternoon with the block and the block handlers was fun enough. CK, Bambi, Tirona, AJ and I bonded over the McDo treat A2012 prepared and then we all left at around 5-ish.
But my day didn't end there. Dana invited me to join her pre-birthday dinner (her birthday was the next day) at TOSH. AND she told me that cLaire was going to be there. Lordie, I missed you so much, cLairebear!XP
The dinner at TOSH was fun. cLaire, as always, was late. haha. But we can't take that against her. We all know that time just seems to stop for cLaire while it keeps going for us.X) After catching-up for awhile, she moved to the other side of the table to hang with her and Dana's masscomm friends (most of them former classmates of mine in duckpin bowling or in j152. haha). I went on to get to know Dana's Povedan friends.
Jordy! You geek! I know very few girls who actually know Saber Rider, the Old He-Man, the original G.I. Joe series, and all that other geek stuff. haha. I hope Boards went well. Looking forward to introducing you guys to Drew's.XP
Also met Pam and Bernice. Pam reminds me of Yla. haha. And yes, the most entertaining aside from Jordy (although I didn't get to talk to her much), Erica (or is it Erika?). She reminds me of a cross between Pao Engracia and someone who I can't put my finger on at the moment. Let's just say that her cellphone rang and what played was the Final Fantasy 7 (and onwards) victory theme. I turned to her and said "I know we're not close yet but you
have to bluetooth that to me" hence my message tone now is the FF Victory theme. haha. Found out she's a KH geek too. Lol.
After, TOSH Katipunan, I headed for Eastwood where I met up with Raya. The original plan had been to go party at Manor that night. But because of the presence of a schoolbag over my shoulder, a not-so-great outfit selection that morning, and my nerd-instincts kicking in because of the scheduled mock recit the next day, I chose to just hangout awhile and catch-up. Miss you, Raya. haha.X)
At around 10, I said my goodbyes to Raya, Kris and JB (the latter two arrived about 30 minutes after I got there) and was set to go home. That is until I was pleasantly surprised with a familiar face. Bro Enteng was there with people from URC. We talked awhile and did a little bit of catching-up and then Ngertz told me that Erik was there too with his batchmates at the MT program.
Of course I rushed to see my best bud and that was probably the most publicly humorous greeting we've shared. Erik shouted from about "HOY!" 15 feet away, out in the open air where lots of people were seated. If that wasn't enough, we gave each other a bro high five and I was sent flying about two feet backward from the force of the bump he hit me with. haha. I would've stayed and crashed their party but I'm not that fresh (and I really felt like going home and being a nerd). haha.
So yeah, got home and fell asleep on the couch while waiting for Noey to get off so that I could make my digest. Eventually made it at 4am of the next day.
I'd planned to party hard over the weekend to make up for my "stay home" birthday but seeing my three favorite people in the whole world without any prior planning absolutely made my day. cLairebear, I hope you've found
the job for you. Raya, goodluck at Bounty! Erik, URC, yeahmehn!X)
I couldn't have asked for better for my birthday celebration.
June 6 - mock recit and impromptu block bondingI don't really want to get into details about the mock recit. haha. I didn't get called but to say that I got "first day shock" is an understatement. Like I texted Mia after, Sir Molo DESTROYED us and then stepped on the little pieces of our egos littered on the floor after the continuous rain of intellectual blows. But what made me happy was that I
knew the answers to all the questions except for one (which I found out later no one in the class knew either). I'm ready for lawschool, baby. Give it to me straight! No salt, no lemon.
Migs and I pushed for a block lunch at McDo and a post-recit block inuman that afternoon. Not everyone was present but attendance was high among our blockmates and we all had fun getting to know each other and just ranting and raving about the mock recit session we'd just had.
Since not a lot of people could go to the inuman that afternoon, we told Madi (our block president) to arrange another one for the week after (since classes had been postponed till the 16th. BEST NEWS EVER that day.XD) But I, Tirona, AJ, Paco, Vien, Anj and Krizel still went to Cantina. And then to Drew's.
What happens in Drew's stays in Drew's. Sorry, guys, no details on who we got wasted that afternoon. haha. Migs had to leave but Erik arrived and kind of served as a proxy. lol. Thanks for passing by, dude. Always fun when you're around.
June 7 - family lunch at Chili'sI LOVE CHILI'S nao. haha. Gonna' celebrate there a lot more often.XP
June 9 - RVC and block bonding at drew'sWe'd told Madi that we wanted the block bonding early in the week instead of on Friday (since we all wanted more days to be sober before class came along). So since it was set for 4pm at Drew's, I opted to serve at RVC to pass the time.
I love you kids so much! You guys make me so proud.:) Goodluck in all your endeavors (within and without RVC) and I promise to always help serve whenever I'm free and have time.
The block bonding, to say the least, was a blast. And just like above,
what happens in Drew's, stays in Drews. haha. But I got 3 people drunk, 2 other people tipsy, and officially got branded by Tirona and the others to be the example and picture for the term "motherfucker" in the dictionary. AJ is the example and picture for "beeotch" and Migs is the one for "asshole". haha. I love my block!
I doubt we'll be having another inuman session anytime soon *coughcough*bullshitbullshit*coughcough*
but I promise you guys we'll have one out of town when this sem ends. Let's prove to everyone that we can get high and
still have fun.X) Go, Block A2013!
June 11 - Justin's birthdayMissing attendees were Lia and A.:( Bawi kayo next time!X) But it was fun being back at the Don Antonio Royale clubhouse. haha. memories, eh Jana, Chesca?XP We even had the same bartender (Jana, naalala ka pa niya!XD).
There were lots of old faces as well as many of the new ones. But the one thing in common was the everyone there at that night were GV. Good vibrations make the world a happy place.:)
Bonded with Sam again. Dude, let's set up your despedida for Eastwood! Para sa condo mo after at walang parental supervision.X) We
need together (as in
really, really) party before you leave in July.
June 13 - out with tiffy and shopping with the best personal fashion consultant everThis day was such a blast.:) Gawd, I missed you so much, Tiff! Soldier down! LINTE GID!X)
You standing there in front of Starbucks at Theatre Mall with your aviators on while texting was so epic I wish I'd taken a picture of you. Taray, dude.XP hahaha
We'll do this more often in the future, I promise you that. And next time Brian tells you "Welcome to Manila", I'll be there to enjoy it. haha.
Got 3 long-sleeves this day too. Haha. Solids are boring. Time to expand my wardrobe of Stripes.XP Thanks for accompanying me, Raya. I hope Dennis' party was blast.X)
June 15 - random last-minute stuffGoing to LSGH today to file for my OTR. Alma Mater fail. My clearance and OTR from UP are pending because they still don't have my f137 from LSGH.
I'll see if I pass by the UPSE freshie orientation. I really do miss everyone and knowing my schedule and workload at law, I'm not going to be able to visit that often (without to-do cases hovering at the back of my head to boot).
Gonna' watch a movie with Mia at Eastwood after. Although I'm praying somehow they'll be showing Star Trek again, it looks like we'll be checking out Pelham123. Denzel's really starting to look like Morgan Freeman. haha
Ohwell, that's enough rambling.:) 3:23 and I need to hit the sack.
GV. I love my life.:)
