When we're apart,
these funny thoughts come from no where
and catch me by surprise.

Like I wish you'd wear button-down shirts
every day,
because I love the idea of taking it off,
exposing you bit by bit,
like a mystery.
I sit in my math class and I think of you
in a button-down shirt,
and suddenly functions don't matter so much.

Like how you'd look with a daisy-chain crown
if we were on a picnic
and I made it for you,
and even though you felt silly, you wore it anyway,
because you love me.
and I'd call you Prince Daisy for the rest of the day
and you'd pout, but secretly like it.

Like if you went to Chicago
and some pretty girl with fake blonde streaks
starting putting her hand on your knee,
you'd tell her of the girl waiting back home.
"she has eyes like the sun,
if only it were green,
and she squeaks when she's tickled,
and I love her."

Like if we got married and grew old,
and our kids went off to college,
I'd beg you to play scrabble, and you would
even though I beat you every time,
and you'd never, ever tell me
you let me win
every time.
