I just discovered that I am old. I sound old, I look old, I act old, I rationalize old, I think old, I love old, I dislike old, and I live old.

I'm bitter, I'm viscious, I'm jaded, I'm lonely, and I'm always wishing to go back a year or two or maybe even twenty.

I am an old lady and there is nothing about it that I like. I'm not supposed to be old yet. I'm supposed to be young, and have fun, and go out, and get stoned, and get drunk, and get tattoos, and smoke cigarettes, and kiss boys, and play loud music, and not get home til 2 a.m., and get up, and take a shower, and get dressed, and go hang out with my mom. That's what I'm supposed to do. I'm supposed to play Guitar Hero and Monopoly and walk down the road in the middle of the night with people that I love. I'm supposed to tell secrets on top of cars and hide my cousin's from the rest of the family. I'm not supposed to care.

But instead I work and diet and power walk around the neighborhood and watch The Price Is Right and scrapbook. Which is good. I like doing those things. But I feel I'd like them better at forty.

So this is me trying to be young again. And fun and nice and sociable. I want to be in on everyone's lives before I don't have the chance anymore.

On the upside....

I realized that everyone has a gay best friend. I just happen to have the best.

Fifty-six days. That's how long it took me to get right about here. I miss you.

Saturday was great. Garrett picked me up around 1:00 and we went all over the place. To Native Sun then to eat then to walk around Five Points then to get Denis. There was some drama, but it's all worked out I think. There was much driving and much going back to Native Sun, where we hid in Katie's unlocked car and scared the booty out of her. Then we went to Fuel and a concert that got good once we left. But that's okay because everyone worth being there was there (well, almost, we were missing some amazing people that I love) and went on a Nathan F. hunt. We returned empty handed but to great applause by two guys at an ATM who spoke in British accents as all seven of us piled out of Olivia's car. And one of those boys was a HOTTIE lemme tell ya. I wish I would have chased that kid. I stood near him quite a lot during the night. There was some bathroom funny and some outside funny and some all the time funny and then....we had to go. And I bade the French Boy farewell and I really do miss him. He has one picture of me. And it is unattractive. I was singing. He said he'd miss Garrett and me singing. I will miss him saying ghetto. And then we went home, Katie driving me like the beautiful person she is.

The next day was okay. Work was pretty decent. The Murphys came to get a book and Garrett came to be a butt head and I watch part of Pirates on break. And I did some work in the wee hours of the morn.

And the rest of the week has been pretty good. I miss this summer. FINALLY I miss it and feel like it might just be over. Strangely enough, when we were driving down the road over a bridge in the rain on the last night that kid was here and most of us were together--the last REAL night of summer--guess what came on the radio? Officially defining every real turning and important point of the past few months came....

"Turn the Page."

So school started Monday and it's already tiring me out. It's not as bad as it could (and I'm sure it will) be but I'm already putting off work. And I already don't care much. I'm hoping this year will be a great one, a grand and inspiring and memory-filled section of my life that will forever linger in fondness in the back of my brain and heart and soul bursting with love. And all those other things I'm supposed to say and may or may not mean. It's only day four. I don't know yet. About anything.

But the first few days haven't been bad. On the first day we sat in home room for two hours and Garrett, Luria, Jonah, Bailey, Katherine, and I made jokes and scenarios the entire time, which was pretty funny, I must say. Then we went to classes. Katie, Olivia, and only seven other people are in my Econ class, which makes me happy. Valerie and Stacey are the only seniors in my Lang class, but that's okay because I like Stacey and I loooooooove Valerie. Then there was Journalism. It feels empty without Katie and Garrett and Natasha and, for the first day, Suzy. We got her back though, thank GOODNESS. Then fiction, which I like. Next day, Lit I liked. I like the teacher, I like the class, and I like the people (I'm so glad Tess is in there though, or I'd be screwed). I like Anatomy and I finally have a class with Ross and Angela for the first time in years. It's small and now I have Katie as well, which makes me happy. Almost as happy as screenwriting, in which I have a lot of people I love a lot. I'm scared of that class though. And then fiction again, which I still like.

Arts area meetings today. I got me some freshmen. It made me happy. I like them better than last year's. These freshmen are magical. And I got to pick my own.

I never had a farewell to summer. I guess I'd better. This summer was just so strange and "action-packed" I don't know how to summerise it. And I don't really care to. There was so much--too much--of everything, it made the whole thing seem so mundane. French kids are funny. My kids are wonderful. Some kids just drive me crazy in all senses of the word. But it was a good summer. It was busy. It was crazy. And now it's done. Somehow, I'm not torn up about it. It found a good stopping point. Both halves did, as most of them do. They found the perfect place to stop, to let me enjoy things at their finest, instead of watching them decline. I'm greatful. And it's over.

It's July 31st. Happy birthday, Harry Potter and JK Rowling. Happy one day late birthday MOM!! and Neville Longbotom. I have exactly eight hours and forty minutes to start my period. I'm probably pregnant. If there is a way for someone who holds THIS TIGHTLY to their V-card to end up with child, it would sure happen to me. Of course. Immaculate conception.
