I've come to despise weekends. For me they're no different than any other day of the week save for a total and complete halt on any and all job related fronts. It stalls everything.
Also, Happy Easter
Oh that reminded me. Friday afternoon I left my apartment to head into Hamilton, just outside my apartment I see a parade of 200 some odd people walking down the sidewalk, with police escorts and such. I was pretty confused, so I crossed the street as to not have to walk through them (going opposite directions). When I'm on the other side of the street I see the leader of the pack is carrying a cross.
I have never seen this before or even heard of it as a thing people do on Good Friday.

i am a wuss |

I got the stitches out today, during the quick and painless process I almost passed out, apparently I'm a total wuss. I was watching the doctor do it then all of the sudden I got flushed and I got really light headed. It only lasted a few minutes.
I currently have no feeling along the top of my middle finger which may or may not be permanent. The finger tip is fine, it's just the top of the finger around the middle knuckle and the surface of the cut. There's really no way to know if it'll come back or not, but I got the impression that chances are good it'll return over time. Still got a few weeks before it completely heals, I don't know what made me think stitches out = healed.

In the process of making a late lunch I was separating frozen hot dogs with a very sharp knife. I thought to myself "This is a bad idea" and then it was. It worked well, a little too well. Separated the hot dogs and then just kept going! It sliced my finger open pretty good. Middle finger (my most used finger!) on the left hand, about 1 inch long and 1 inch deep and looots of blood. Having no one to take me to the hospital I got myself a ride on the ambulance. The bleeding had pretty much stopped by the time we arrived at the hospital. I sat around for a few hours in the waiting room then got 5 stitches. They stay in for 7-10 days and then I'll have a wicked scar attached to a terribly pathetic story.
( gross )
Conversation with mother: me - I felt like a moron explaining what happened mom - I've heard that separating frozen meats is the most common injury me - I can't tell if you're making fun of me. mom - no, it really is true

I finally got around to seeing Taken and it's seriously amazing. I recommend it to everyone. The action is well filmed and has the intensity of Bourne without being ridiculous or in stupid fast or slow motion for no reason. The characters have genuine motivations and emotions, they don't bother dumbing down the reaction they SHOULD have because, hey, it's Hollywood, everyone likes mercy and restraint. I looked at the run time and was surprised to see it clocks in at just under an hour and a half, however it doesn't feel too long or too short at all. I think the best part is that it never goes over the top. You think it's going to, it approaches the edge, and then slides gently back into reality.
Go watch it. Go on.

So I was going through my college work and found a flash mp3 player I programmed. One of the songs i used in it was a Less Than Jake song from my old collection which had something weird about it.
For whatever reason this song was double the speed in every player I could find except the one I programmed in Flash. The song is All My Best Friends Are Metalheads and it ran at literally double speed. Oddly enough however at this speed the vocals just sound like it's being sung by Roger Manganelli instead of Chris Demakes. Having never heard the properly timed version I just assumed everything was cool with this. It doesn't sound unusually fast. I had the song for a few years without ever knowing something was weird until I lived with Tommy. I was playing it and he instantly picked up on it asking what the hell was wrong with my copy. It was the entire Hello Rockview album, which I've since replaced except for this one track that was stored elsewhere for the purpose of the mp3 player.
It's neat.

So I just saw American Psycho for the first time and can't get over how good it was. Christian Bale nailed the role of Patrick Batemen amazingly. It's just perfect. Not just how good a job Bale did, the character itself is incredibly intriguing and as the movie reaches it's climax it's quite the mind job. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Probably the greatest scene of the movie for many many reasons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwicLgOGJOI
He's just so excited while preparing to murder, and so animated. At the end he screams "Try getting a reservation at Dorsia now you fucking stupid bastard!" referencing an earlier conversation.

I'm really looking forward to that new Liam Neeson movie where he's some kind of assassin and his daughter gets kidnapped. It just looks so intense only because it's Liam Neeson, anyone else starring in that generic rehash of too many movies would make it the equivalent of eating saltines. Something that cleanses the palette to let you appreciate the finer things that much more.
Taken
Upon further interneting apparently it was released to most of the world in 08 but for some reason North America has to hold out until January 30th this year.

If you were to say "Hey Stu, what's your favorite guitar solo ever?" I'd kindly reply with this. And by "reply" I mean by telling you, because there no way I can play that...yet.

So at work our Creative Director proposed this idea that every person on the creative team gets a 1 foot x 1 foot canvas and paints something, then we look at them all without the artists name and guess who did what. That was...late October, the deadline (which has been moved several times) is the end of this month and I've had about 3 or 4 different ideas now. I really need to just do one and nail the others later.
Relatedly, I want to paint now. Like as a hobby.

2 Weeks ago - Department Christmas party Last week - Company Christmas party This week - 4th floor (creative team) party. With which they've brought in a meme arcade cabinet, golden tee machine (you know, that golf arcade game that's in like every bar), ping pong table and a jukebox...just because. Along with drinks all afternoon. Also the games and such are here all week.
Awesome.
Update: There's also a 2 player Big Buck Hunter machine and a 1 player Cruisin USA machine.
I did nothing today, unless you count getting myself into multiple leaderboards.
