[Current Mood |sickmedicated]

Man this has been a crazy week. My surgery was this past Tuesday, which I'm so glad is finally over. Even though they said my surgery time was 10:30, I don't think I got into the operating room until about 1. I was a little nervous, but I tried to keep calm. I felt fine when they started to prep me for surgery, I suppose just sitting in the waiting room was what was making me nervous. It took my dad about 4 minutes to figure out how to tie the hospital gown, and he managed to do it wrong. When the nurse came in she gave him a funny look. Before they started my Stimate drip they took my temperature and I had a slight fever. They took it again during the drip and it had gone up more. I normally run a fever when I get Stimate, but since I had a slight one before it worried my doctors. One of the hematologists was concerned about the fever and about bleeding after the surgery so they wanted me to stay overnight. I was kind of upset because I was hoping to go home afterwards, but it worked out in the end because I needed a lot of care during the night. I was in so much pain after I woke up from the procedure that they gave me a sedative since I was yelling and and crying a little. My room was nice enough for a hospital room, but some of my bed buttons didn't work. Even though the nurses took awhile to respond when I would call them, they were all pretty nice and didn't mind having to roll me over. One of them said I was the most polite patient she's had in awhile which made me happy since I didn't want to be a pain in the ass. I couldn't sleep much that night all of the tubes and monitors made it difficult for me to get comfortable, the oxygen tube was irritating my nose and mouth, and I was still in pain from the procedure. Luckily I shared the room with a talkative and nice older woman who helped the time pass. She was 66 and had just gotten scar tissue removed from her knees and a hysterectomy. She told me all about her kids, her job, and jerk ex-husband. She was surprised to find out my age since in her opinion I was too young and sweet to be having all of these health problems. Cedric came as soon as visiting hours started the next morning. I was so excited I couldn't wait to see him. He was a big help, he helped me get undressed and dressed and he helped me unhook a lot of the monitors so I could be discharged. He even pushed my wheelchair around which was actually kind of fun. Even though he was worried he would get lost on the way back, he got us home safely. He was a big help Wednesday and Thursday, he helped me get around my house and was able to lift me up which was great since I couldn't really stand up or let alone sit up without somebody's help. My family seemed to like him enough at Thanksgiving, nobody said anything too offensive or rude. I was really sad to see him go Thursday night. Yesterday I basically laid on the couch and watched TV since thats all I could really do. Justine came by and brought me some pumpkin pie and a CD. Typing this live journal entry is the most I've done today. I can walk around ok enough but I still can't bend or sit straight up.
