We were sorting through tons of old paperbacks, dividing them into "keep" and "give away" piles. Jeremiah was in the library with us, enthusiastically attempting to direct which books should go where. Since he had read none of them, this grew tiresome.
I put down the stack of books in my hands and said to Pär, "Maybe we should set him up with --" Then I stopped, thinking better of it.
Jeremiah's head swiveled around and he became very still, focusing on me with a sudden intensity. "Set him up with what?"
"...Set him up with a movie."
Jeremiah didn't move, continuing to stare intently. "I thought you were going to say, Set him up with Wii."
Pär and I, who have long since switched from a purely spoken communication to patches of speech used mainly to boost our telepathy, looked at each other. "Don't blunt his instincts," Pär murmured.
"Yes," I sighed. "I was going to say Wii."
"Yay!" Jeremiah shouted. "Set me up with Wii!" He bounced into the other room and began to press buttons, gather wiimotes, still talking. "Wii is more attractive than movies," he called over to us, "because you get to move around and make choices and do things. With movies you just sit there and watch. Boring."

For some reason it just occurred to me: J. is totally Franklin Richards. And not just 'cause his parents are all super-hero-y.
Hmm! He does spend a lot of time creating pocket universes. And I can totally see his career path in life as "Psi-Lord Adventurer". (Though we really aren't all that super-hero-y...)
Seconded. These anecdotes are so awesome.
I was thinking the other day about how J. is the internet version of Daniel Hall, having spent time gestating on the web. No wonder he's the twenty-first century boy.
"Wii is more attractive than movies," he called over to us, "because you get to move around and make choices and do things. With movies you just sit there and watch. Boring."
And that is the first really good reason I've heard to try a Wii.
When he's on the Wii he's usually standing up and jumping around wildly at least half the time. I'm not even referring to the Wii sports where you have to move your body to play, but basic immersive games like Lego Star Wars (his current fave). Wii turns out to be a pretty physical activity for him.
G's like that with Xbox. And then there's the sound effects. The game has sound effects, of course.
But G's are more attractive.
I love, love love LOVE this story.
I love "don't blunt his instincts."
