Me at the first Tribal Cafe, dancing to the live music of Solace (that's Jeremiah Soto drumming behind me). Man, that was fun!
Plus, I found an old student of mine! Rita from Australia (now in Gypsy Noir)! What a fun student/ dance partner she was!
I should probably google myself more often! It's fun what I find!
Um. yeah. Not having all my pictures on this computer = annoyed Lexie.

Remy at approximately five months old. I am slayed by the intensity of his eyes and the beauty of his happy soul!!!
I did not take enough video clips of him as a newborn/ infant/ baby. What a wasted opportunity. There are a few and I treasure them, but these days it seems on my new camera I take almost as many clips as photos.
What Your Taste in Music Says About You |
![]() Your musical tastes are intense and rebellious. You are intelligent... but in a very unconventional way. You are curious about the world. You love doing something new. In fact, you enjoy taking risks and doing things most people would shy away from. You are very physical. It's likely that you're athletic, but not into team sports. You have the soul of an artist. Beauty and harmony are important to you. |
Only 4 questions and I'd say that's pretty fracking true!
another good article http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/0
"I don't care about how Sarah Palin or John McCain take care of their families. I care about how their policy choices affect my family and millions of other Americans...
McCain and Palin want us to leave their families alone. Yet they want to make rules for our families by eliminating our right to make our own choices over abortion, eliminate our access to family planning education or domestic partner benefits, and our freedom from discrimination.
They want to control what our kids learn in school about sex and about science. In short, through the policies they promote and the judges they support, they want the government to have more control over our private lives than at any time in history"
~ Hilary Rosen
A fricking men is all I can say (and please note for the record that I am not the Alexis who left a comment on that page, although I agree with my name-same).
2. WHAT IS THE LAST FILM THAT YOU SAW AT The Cinema? Tropic Thunder (see it!!)

- Mood:
calm
Seriously, what.
- Mood:
hungry
- I hate ants!
- I'm not very fond of waking up at 4 am.
- Heroes season 2? IS SO AWESOME!!!!
- The world scares me a lot right now. But I am prone to freaking out about the state of the world, so... nothing new there.
- I think I got three or possibly four compliments on my dreads this past weekend! w00t! They are looking pretty fabu, I must say.
- Ants? I HATES THEM. We're completely infested with the little kind that don't respond well to cinnamon EO as a deterent. I'm trying Neem oil and we'll see if that helps. Also, will mix up some borax/ sugar water and watch them kill themselves eating it.
- One of the prefolds/ diapers in the last batch wasn't rinsed out all the way and tinged some diapers. ARGH! I hate it when that happens! OTOH, they are so beautiful, I can hardly complain. Will probably be dying some of the tinged things, tho, so they aren't that blah-pastel-blue. Blech.
- I think Remy is sufficently not-infectious enough to go out today, but he's so tired I don't know if we will... he woke up at 4am b/c the frigging ants in our bed were nibbling his toes! (And mine. And M's. Did I mention I hate ants????)
- He may also be onto the "sick" part of this gastro bug (which is the part M and I got). May be a two-fer (two different virusi). :shrug. Don't know, don't really care, just wish he were feeling better.
- Coffee rocks my world. Especially Hazelnut coffee. Why I love it so, I don't know (hazelnuts don't necessarily thrill me in any other capacity except of course, Nutella, but that's b/c of the chocolate, not the hazelnuts, I think). Still. Hazelnut flavored coffee makes me a happy Lexie.
- M did a serious amount of work around the house yesterday and should be HAILED as Teh Awesome for it!!! He folded 4-6 loads of laundry (I lost count) and washed off the back porch. And did equal-share parenting (as is normal).
- I still have a load or two of laundry to do today (gastro bugs create a lot of laundry, n'est pas?) but that'll be easy enough to fold. It's when the pile piles up that I get overwhelmed and let it slide. (Which is where M excells, he just digs in and gets it done! w00t!)
But then, all this internet ballyhoo started over Sarah Palin and my gut reaction was: This. Shit. Must. Stop. Yeah, I agree that maybe by going negative we could gain some votes, but at what price? AT WHAT PRICE?
Attacking her as a woman* attacks all women. That's just how overgeneralizations on "minorities**" work. If she's not a good enough mom, then guess what? Neither are any of us (and believe you me, our culture already feeds on that premise in a Very Big Way).
Attacking her 17 year old daughter? Attacks all girls who have sex at that age. Which is a significant majority. AND feeds into the idea that sex is something that "good girls" shouldn't want. Fuck THAT bullshit!
So, let's find some other way to go negative. We do need to win this election, but I am personally not willing to have it be won at the expense of all womankind. Let's think that one through, shall we?
I may end up disabling comments to this entry, but for now, I will leave it open to philosophical discussion. Let's keep it on that level, tho.
___
* Attacking her politics is very much acceptable, as I personally find them quite reprehensible!
** And although women aren't technically a minority, in reality we are. Very much so. It is all too easy for "The Man" to lump us all together and say we have PMS or are flighty.
