Xpo Fever
It's that time of year again; three days madness at the Barbican, commonly known as The Xpo. Much loading and unloading of cars and trailers, hanging of galleries and running around bumping into people I'd like to chat to but only seem to have time to wave at. And of course, the odd photo - some 2500 frames over two days of shooting fashion shows and studio sets.

As ever, a huge thank you to [info]shadowjen for model wrangling and keeping me sane, and to [info]harlot_rouge for being such good company. There'll be pics appearing in various places over the next week or so, but in the meantime here's a studio shot that I've chosen simply because I like it ...

Lift
Hello dear LJ, how I have abandoned thee. It's probably only been a few days (I haven't checked) but feels like I haven't updated in ages. I've been in the house still trying to get over this weird cold/flu thing that has persisted for over 2 weeks.

Thanks to Benylin and some paracetamol it's seems to be clearing up now, at last so should be all good and shiny for the Xpo. I almost forgot I'm also doing a workshop on the sunday at Switch Photography Studio. The photographer is Tony Nutley so should be pretty cool :)

Oh, don't know if anyone remembers me posting about a seller on ebay who sold me a fake DVD? They have another ebay account and are now selling the DVDs using images hotlinked from my website! (It's a hairdressing DVD). My site doesn't actually allow hotlinking so the images are all broken but it still made me laugh. People can be so dumb.

I was interviewed by a large french art nude site recently. The interview isn't up yet as I guess it's being translated, but they put a small 'coming soon' thing up on thier main page and I got a ridiculous amount of hits on my website from it. I actually went over my (pretty big) monthly bandwidth allowance for the first time I can remember since I got linked on Fleshbot (3 years ago!). lol. I'll post the english version of the interview up once the french version is online. My answers were a bit long and waffling. I usually only write one or two senetences when I get interviewed but I had a look at the other models and they all had massive paragraphs so I felt maybe I should write more (but I kinda suck at writing stuff like that).

New pic by Mick Waghorne that I'm quite fond of:

Haven't been up to much else that I can remember. Been getting lots of drawing done now I don't have a day job, which is really great. Trying out some new media and a slightly different more colorful style. Will try and get more of it posted over at [info]miss_charlotina soon.

Professional Widow
I just noticed that the new Bridal and Professional Widow collections have been launched on the Angels Carrying Savage Weapons website :) I modelled for the new Bridal collection back in June but the images were being saved for a September launch. They were shooting the Professional Widow collection on the same day with another model but I think she was feeling poorly towards the end of the day and had to leave early, so I shot one of those outfits too.

I love Angelic Weapons' stuff so much. I wish the pics were a little bigger to show all the details in the fabrics!

The bridal gowns were all made out of raw silk, I had to be so careful to keep from touching any of the dirt! The location was a semi-derelict factory of some sort. I think some of the images from the shoot are going to be in an editorial in the next issue of Black Meringue magazine. They were shot more with an editorial in mind rather than as catalogue shots which I guess is why there aren't any back views on the website.

I feel so bad I can't actually remember the names of the photographer and makeup artist! I will update when I find out!

US Elections, style=mine, beta profile, Snap, and Bollywood
U.S. Presidential Election Community

With a historic U.S. election coming down to the wire, causing a lot of buzz in the U.S. and abroad, we thought it would be cool to create a community with a global view on the 2008 election. To that end, we've partnered with various news providers, including The Independent in the UK, Gazeta in Russia, and Mint in India, to allow their journalists to engage with the LiveJournal user community, asking questions and posting news stories for comments and discussion. Our goal is to encourage a lively and spirited debate between users and news providers worldwide on LiveJournal itself, and also to allow republication of user comments from within this community in print and online media outside of LiveJournal. In this way we hope to facilitate cross-border public discussion of the issues and personalities involved to provide a better understanding of the internal political debates here in the U.S. as well as the international perspective of the U.S. election. Whether your views swing red, blue, purple, or neutral, come check out [info]us_election2008 and let your opinions be heard.

Persistent style=mine for Paid Users

Many of you know that you can add the parameter ?style=mine to a journal URL in order to view that journal in your own journal's style. In the spirit of giving users more of what they've been asking for, we're giving our users with Paid Accounts a persistent style=mine option. If you want to override other journals' styles with your own all of the time, just turn on the "View all journals and communities in your own style" setting at the Viewing Options page. This will make it so every journal you view will always be shown in your own style. In addition, you can use the navigation strip at the top of most journals to quickly toggle between the journal's original style and your own style. Head over to [info]paidmembers for more information on this new feature. Speaking of paid accounts . . . .

Paid Account Sale Ending Soon

One minute before the stroke of midnight on September 30th (11:59 p.m. PDT on 9/30/2008, to be exact), our paid account sale comes to an end. Act now to get 20% off the purchase of a 12-month block of paid account time. Check out our paid account sale page for details.  In addition, we wanted to remind everyone about the permanent account sale, coming in November: stay tuned for more information on pricing and other details.

New Profile Page in Beta

We have long wanted to make the profile page easier to navigate, so we have committed our best thoughts to paper (or .pdf) and put the redesigned profile page into Beta. If you want to participate in beta testing for the profile page, go here. The design team has been hard at work incorporating a lot of feedback from the folks over at [info]lj_design into the process, reorganizing information to make it easier to scan and process. This is just the start of the conversation with our users about how to improve the profile page, and we encourage your feedback over on the lj_design post. Our goal is to continue the evolution of the profile page to best suit user needs.

Snap Implementation Changes

We're changing the "Enable graphic previews" setting on the Viewing Options page from a journal setting (whether or not other people see it on your journal) to a user setting (whether or not you see it site-wide). You do not need to make any changes to your settings—whatever you had selected as a journal setting will be used as your new viewing option. For logged-out viewers of your journal, your viewing option will determine whether or not Snap is shown.

Idea Bollywood Club Community

Some people dream of being famous in Hollywood, the so-called Motion Picture Capital of the World, but across the globe in Mumbai there is another dream factory—Bollywood. LiveJournal has partnered with Zoom TV to present a behind-the-scenes look at Idea Bollywood Club, an American Idol-esque show with an Indian twist. If you're keen to find out more about the show's contestants, or want to show your support for your favorites, head on over to [info]bollywoodclub and make yourself heard. All next week the show will be live-blogged, providing an extra bit of insight into the running of the show.

NYC
So I am alive and mostly well, I survived hurricane Ike.

My area was pretty smashed up I have some pretty serious roof damage and some windows and roof panels blew out.  A tree crashed into the side of my house it was pretty scary.

My neighbor's carport was demolished, lots of huge trees torn up/broken/uprooted.  I'm too lazy to upload and post the photos I shot of the carnage.  I'm sure most of you have seen pics already on the news if you had any interest...  Just got internet back, some people still don't have power...

I wonder if that sassy Sarah Eudy believes in hurricanes now...

I just got back from a week in SF, I shot some ridiculously attractive girls for DN and my own work.

The Zivity workshop was awesome... everyone was really cool and the feedback has been great.  Photos from the event will surface soon - I've seen some online...  I'll post some of mine soon.

Chris Ambler's iphone posts straight to his LJ so i couldn't even scarf down an eggroll without fear of instant internet visibility/scorn/ridicule haha :)

Spent a lot of time with <3mosh<3 we shot a lot - lots of new stuff on the way.  Was nice to geek it up and hang out with Steen and I finally got Mischa naked on an elephant.

Conan and I made a fort and put a "no girls allowed" sign on our door.

This is getting long it's turning into an actual blog post - I guess this is me "blogging".

The east coast needs love too so I'm headed to NYC for about a week - if you're interested in shooting a set for DN or hiring me please let know soon -  I think I'll have a little free time.

Here's more info on the DN shoots: (medium+ to heavy ink required)

and my current rates for model portfolio/test shoots and commissioned noncommercial projects:

thanks,
Philip
