Cohesive Lemmings - April 25th, 2010

About April 25th, 2010

And we all know I am very good at pretending to be a real live grown-up 08:12 pm
So we're settling in in our new place. Givat Shmuel. Not a place we terribly wanted to be, but pretty good under the circumstances - close to both our offices, strong community (once we break into it), close to all the parental units. The apartment's nice. It'll take some getting used to before it's comfortable, but hey, we'll be here.

For those of you I've been criminally out of touch with, a prime reason behind this move is that Rachel is pregnant, and due to give birth in just a couple of weeks. It's a healthy baby girl, and even in her fetal state she's got us in a flurry of excitement and nervousness. By now, we're feeling the pregnancy drawing to its end, and we're eagerly waiting for the other shoe to drop - for the baby to be out here, with us, after all this long wait. We hear the relief will be accompanied by the less-than-enchanting birth itself, and followed by a long period without sleep, but what that heck. That's what we signed on for, ja?

My observations thus far are a bit eclectic. It's curious (though unsurprising) how among my friends, we'll be among the very first to have a child; among Rachel's, we'll be among the last. Even more than how I love feel the baby kick, I love it now that she's big enough and pressing hard enough that she can feel me back. And it's very odd trying to buy things for when the baby's born when I don't feel like I've got any clue how it's going to be, so I have no idea what to buy or how much.

All in all, this is going to be a rather monumental change for us. We've been looking forward to this for a long time; hopefully by now, we're somewhere near ready. Here's wishing us, and our b"h soon-to-be-newborn, well. And we look forward to having as many of our friends around us as we can possibly coax over here.
