Cohesivest. Geek Poll. EVAR. 03:08 pm
Yeah, yeah, life is hell until the exams are over. Let's go for an optimistic note, if only for the sake of variety.

OK: I've spent much time bemoaning the sorry lot of Givat Ram geeks. So many geeks, so little time; just when we've achieved critical mass, we're all too busy with schoolwork to do anything about it.

So I'm thinking: next year I'm third year, which (according to ancient Ramian mythology) is somewhat less busy than the first two years. And I've got all summer to plan and prepare anything I'd like. If I want geek activities here at Givat Ram, all I need to do is A) organize some, and B) convince a bunch of people that they can spare a few hours from their schoolwork.

So I'm asking my fellow students this question: would you be interested in geek activities, and would you be able to attend with any regularity? And: what kind of activities would you like?

The specific type of activity is very important, because I'd need to pick one that a decent number of people can come to. So please, let me know which of the following sound like fun. And remember, any one that we pick, even if it's not your absolute favorite, is a good chance to relax and hang out with fellow geeks. It's good for the soul!

So how about:
  • Star Trek episodes

  • Episodes of something that isn't Star Trek (Stargate, B5, Buffy, Simpsons, Firefly, you name it - we live in the age of bitTorrent)

  • Roleplaying games

  • Lectures and/or discussions

  • Monty Python readings

  • SF/F Book Club

  • Dental Floss demonstrations

  • Purely social gatherings - i.e. no main event, just coordinated hanging out

  • C++ Contests and Ross Races

Let me know which, if any of these, sound fun. If none of them do, or if you'd never in a million years have time to come, ever - tell me that too. And if you've got any other ideas - hey, by all means.

Awake, O Geeks, and Claim Thine Rightful Heritage!
