recap of week in NYC

Day 1: got into LGA. the traffic to Columbia was awful since there was a lot of construction work being done and the US open had just finished.

Day 2. Went to lunch with Alyssa and Chad. Went to Soho visited Thuy, and Alyssa's friends, walked around soho, noho, chinatown, little italy, and wall street. shopped. Saw battery park. Had thai food.

Day 3. Went to times square. Hershey store, M&M store, Virgin Records, Toys R Us,shopped. Chrysler building, grand central station, rockerfeller center.St patricks cathedral. union station.

Day 4. Nyu. Thai food. Village. Magnolias. Marc jacobs. The Met (the only civilized place in all of NYC with toilet seat covers). Didn't even go to the top floor bc there was so much on the 1st and 2nd floors. lame housewarming party, upside was the alcohol. Pinkberry, ciggies and ppl watching.

Day 5. Crystal, Brendan and Galina come to Columbia. Ethiopian food. Horrible rain and weather. we did go to a Hungarian Cafe which was cute though.

Day 6. Breakfast at lylas cafe then desserts from kitchenette. The cloisters, fort tyron park. Walked around greenwich, and chelsea. Saw flatiron building. went to Bryant park and saw Thuy's show then went to the after party. Amazing how I got drunk more in New York the one week I was there than the whole month I've been here.

Day 7. Guggenheim. Central park. Neue galerie. Dylan's Candy Bar. Dinner with Alyssa, Galina, Lauren, and Anna. went to Chinatown and soho. Filenes basement. Borders and had ice cream with Galina at Union Square.

Whats up with New York and the lack of toilet seat covers? Also, a lot of places smelled bad. I think I lost weight that week because I walked around so much, sightseeing and visiting everything. The only thing I'm kicking myself for is not going to see Mamma Mia!

we sing we dance we steal things

I don't think I need to justify why I like Jason Mraz's music. But if I did, I'd say you can't be heavy all the time. Even his slower songs had an underlying tone of lightness. He strays from his typical styles and adds some cool different beats that you wouldn't normally hear from him.
This is one of the few albums I can listen to from beginning to end without skipping a song, but I especially like "Lucky" featuring Colbie Caillat. Chad hates Colbie Caillat, so I deleted her album but kept "Bubbly" which I still think is a cute song despite what Chad thinks.

The sun has been really bright since 7 and it's already starting to get hot. I love the weekends. fuck school.

how annoying

I think it's fine when teachers leave exams in a bookshelf or cabinet outside of their office for you to pick up whenever you want. However, I find it EXTREMELY annoying when my friends pick up their test and get mine too and compare scores. What happened to privacy? fuck off people.

Speaking of annoying things. Miley Cyrus needs to STFU because the picture of her and her dad from that photo shoot was way creepier than the picture of her naked.

I went to the nude beach on friday. it was nice being able to tan almost nude but getting hit on was really annoying. Chad and I went to the beach today and took an adventurous and unsafe path there. I fell and slide on my ass multiple times but at least I got somewhat of a tan today.

I'm all out of apples! fuck!
rock n roosevelt: a night to remember

so rock n roosevelt was crazy. absolutely nuts. hardly anybody was sober which meant friday night involved a lot of vomit, cops, stretchers (especially for tyler) and arrests which i have to say... was kind of amusing to watch. i hardly remember the federation but i do remember being out on the green dancing in the crowd but left after 5 minutes because it got way to violent.

hey chad, i hope you enjoyed young love. sorry for not being all that fun to be around that night and my finger still friggin hurts from cutting myself with a razor. cutting pills while you're peaking is NOT a good idea.

midterms suck. suck. suck. suck. suck.

i think the only thing that would make me get over the horror of the quarter system this spring is http://www.nubrella.com/ the new bubble umbrella. its around $60 and looks sooo cool. if i got that i'd walk to class with so much fierceness and a hint of silliness conveyed by Bubble Boy but above all i'd look fierce. FIERCE!

it's been a while

i'm sorry lj for neglecting you. i promise i'll change your layout and update you more often.

so what's been going on?
i guess my life isn't as fucked up as britney but it's second quarter and i'm already in between midterms. i just got my math and chem midterms back which i'm very ashamed to say i did poorly on. i'm taking my mmw midterm next week and with the way chamberlain teaches his lectures, i don't think i'll be doing well on that either. all i can say is the quarter system sucks and so do tests.

i've made many observations about college i wish i could recall them now but it's my fault for not writing it down. if anything college has made me an increasingly self conscious person. i hate walking to class because i can feel people looking at me. it's quite existential of me to say this but when i see the other's eye on me i get insecure and downright anxious. it's one of the worst feelings now that i've become more aware of it after ann and i had a talk and it's something i have to deal with everyday. i'd feel fine walking to class if nobody was around, but this school has thousands of eyes. then how do i deal with this? i find that my sidekick is my best friend. it's fantastic, i can surf the web, text or chat on aim while i'm walking to class. by looking down at my sidekick i get to block everybody out, i kind of imagine that they're not there and pretend those masses of atoms are just cardboard obstacles that i have to walk around. the only downside to this is sometimes i end up walking the wrong way and once into the middle of the street with a car coming at me... a small price i have to pay for temporary peace of mind.

So T.J. Mitchell and his son Stuart figured out what the symbols carved into the chapel's arches meant. They were led to the Medieval musical system called cymatics or Chladni.

this is so fucking cool. and the video makes it three times cooler.

check out how the sugar changes shape with each sound pitch as it corresponds with the symbols sculpted into the Rosslyn Chapel.

<lj-embed id="1" />
