Name: Edmund Caine
Age: 16
Birthday: August 27th (Virgo)
Height: 5'5"
Weight:127lbs (hell I dunno)
Class / Rank: 1-1 / 15
1st Year: World History&Writing
Clubs&Etc: Tech / Football, Track, Hockey
Visible Markings: Lots of sports-related scrapes and bruises
Appearance: If you know Terre Caine, you'll see a bit of him in the kid. Something about the heavy eyebrows and the dark eyes will give it away, even the hair if Edmund gets it cut close enough. But he's clearly the type that'll get wrinkles from smiling rather than frowning. He slouches a little and shuffles a bit, and he's a bit on the short side though he's expected to have a growth spurt soon. He wears a lot of navy and cargo green and doesn't really have any particular outlandish style going on- t-shirts and jeans for the most part, and clunky-looking skater shoes. His shoelaces are frequently undone despite double-knotting.
PB: Shia LaBeouf
History: Growing up the only child of a single mom wasn't as bad as some people would have it be. Sometimes, he got the feeling things could be worse from his mom, but he never pressed it. He didn't have to. His mother was always open about his father, Terre, whom she divorced when Edmund was still young. She respected the man, but the love had run out quickly, and the divorce had been a clean break between them even with Edmund. It'd been decided he wouldn't be a good influence on the boy, or a good caretaker come to think of it, so when his father moved out, Edmund stayed behind in New Jersey with his mother.
Being a nurse, she was frequently busy, and Edmund had his share of babysitters throughout the years, and sometimes felt like he knew his friends' houses better than his own the older he grew. It didn't bother him that much, though. His mother did an important job and hung out with him on her days off, so there wasn't really anything to complain about. She turned out to be one of his best friends, in an odd way, and nothing went unsaid between them. It was a rather stark, unmysterious relationship to have, but he never regretted being able to ask anything and get an honest answer in return. Anything he tried to hide she discovered anyways, so this method also served lessening any lectures he might have gotten. Things were pretty normal, though. He was obsessed with sports and video games and skateboarding, took apart every appliance his mom brought home and eyed the car longingly.
Except for one thing. He didn't hear much from his father. That sort of rankled him, but he didn't doubt his mom when she said it was probably for the best. There was some communication now and then- a belated birthday phonecall or card usually, and he still hates to admit he still keeps the Black Sabbath album his dad sent him, even though he doesn't like it much. But he doesn't hate the man- he knows he tried, it just didn't come out all that great.
When he was about twelve or thirteen, his dad actually brought him over to That Country. He never got to see his dad often, especially when he left New Jersey to go to That Country, and Edmund was so nervous he threw up on the plane over there. He got a clearer look at what his dad did- and who his dad was. It didn't really surprise him, and it bothered him less than he thought it should. Still, the school and his father's place in it left an impression on him and he wanted to go back. His mother said, if he wanted to go there, he'd be old enough then to make his own decision in her opinion, and if his father still worked there, tuition wouldn't be a problem, and he had plenty of time to get his grades up there. She didn't like it, but just as she hadn't been willing to change his father, she wouldn't try to force the same on her son.
Life continued on. Hard work and natural talent saw him scoring well on the entrance exam into Second Heaven. His tuition was arranged, and in an awkward phonecall informed his father of what he planned on doing.
He doesn't expect much- he doesn't know what to expect at all, really. His mom's told him not to get his hopes up. Those he's pretty sure don't need to be called into question- his visit made it pretty clear to him the type of person his dad is. But, dad aside, it's a new experience. He finds himself wondering how things will go, given who his father is... he certainly doesn't expect them to go easy.
Personality: Much like his mother, he likes working with his hands, though in more of a mechanical sense. He likes to take things apart and try to put them back together. He likes to see things run smoothly. He's got oceans of patience, but even those run out eventually, and he has something of a sarcastic manner when he's annoyed or irritated by something or someone. He's got a sort of "tough love" principle and handles himself easily, having learned to be independent to a certain degree given the frequency his mother was out of the house at work or on call. He's pretty good-natured... pretty normal, as far as fifteen year olds go, anyways. A little (a lot?) hesitant in his new environment, though, fully aware of his father, and his father's reputation. He's pretty honest, blunt, and expects the same of others.
