Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (NO SPOILERS)
I have seen and was thoroughly entertained by the Indiana Jones movie. I saw it COMPLETELY spoiler-free and I will afford you the same favor - no spoilers about it in this post, please.

Let me just say that I reacted exactly as I'm sure you could predict: I laughed, cried, *squee*d, jumped (quite a few times) and gasped precisely where the filmmakers meant me too. I will say that I watch Indy movies as entertainment - I willingly suspend my disbelief and criticism, and usually enjoy them immensely. And yes, ohsovery YES my romantic heart swelled with happiness over That One Line - I actually had tears in my eyes, I was so happy. And even right now, thinking about it, I'm all *sigh*-y about it! ^_^

Seriously, I was exactly the movie's target audience. And rather than be bugged at their blatant manipulation of my emotions, I thank the filmmakers for a very enjoyable evening.

We saw it last night and are quite undecided what to think of it. More or less started out well, then leave it to Spielberg to make a screwed up ending. Multiple people in the audience, ourselves included were saying, "...seriously, [insert word describing beings that come in at the end]?" Entertaining, yes. See it again? Nah. That's just me.

HA! That's the 1950s for you, I guess. I wasn't surprised by this turn, but even had I been... well, I don't think I'd mind. It's INDY! Hehe

I was quite pleased with how they tied this movie's story line in with the previous ones, but as Adam said, my feelings at the end were exactly as he described. "Really? Thank you, Mr. Speilberg." But it was a very entertaining movie, nonetheless, and overall I enjoyed it as long as I refuse to be bugged by the ending (though I did like a(n accidental?) tie-in to another big movie with, I think, another part coming out rather soon). EEKKK! We need to hang out and discuss in person so as to not kill the spoiler-free atmsophere!

I love ancient cultures, so I knew what the crystal skull was and the various legends around it - of which the movie's storyline is a big one. So no surprise there for me, and it didn't jar me out of the movie like it did a lot of other people.

We need to hang out, regardless!

Yeah, that's SO outside of Spielberg's oeuvre. *cough cough, Close Encounters, cough cough, E.T.* If you can swallow the magical Ark of the Covenant, the magical Holy Grail, and underground cultists ripping people's beating hearts out of their bodies, it's not a far leap.

I loved it! Better than the last two Indy movies IMO. Also can't wait for the other big movie (July 25)!

I Can't Wait Either!
It's been, what, a decade in the making?

Re: I Can't Wait Either!
I guess David Duchovny's better at making his money last than some other actors, but now he's ready for another payday. I heard his voice-over in a Pedigree dog food commercial today. He's REALLY ready.

HA! Yeah, I do agree - Speilberg's working out something in his own psyche there, eh? Like I say above - the theory is a common one surrounding the crystal skulls and pre-mayan/aztec culture, so no shock to me.

Wait... what movie is coming?
